brainnsoup xxEternallyBluexx Lumanny the Space Jew xxEternallyBluexx I think evil or not good. I also think abuse, torture, bloody ceremonies and eventually I come to self-indulgence and athiestic satanism, all which makes me wince. >.< And I know some satanists don't do the illegal bloody stuff, but it still happens. I read the published diary of a kid who got dragged into the occult, and drank blood and prayed to satan with his three friends. They all were killed after having a wish fulfilled, and they were killed in three different accidents. I also read Stairway to Hell which was written by a man who woirked with kids who were hurt by satanism, and dragged up news reports of kids who had killed their friends while worshipping satan. I really don't like any form of satanism. I predict a lot of flaming on this comment. Eternal, worshipping the Devil is actually not what Satanism is about. talk2hand I know the name's misleading, but, in short, Satanism is basically about Satan as a symbol of man himself. Satanism is about the empowerment of oneself as a human and a person. All bowing down to statues of a red demon with a pitchfork and pointy tail? All that drinking blood and sacrificing babies? Bullsh*t. Nevermind the fact that I think of the same words because of how I used to view Satanism before I learned the facts... Yeah, I've kinda come to expect that. sweatdrop But it's more interesting then just another comment about LaVeyan satanism. Not all satanism. I don't really see any good to that either. How do you know? Are there any credible sources that says nothing bad has ever happened in the name of satan? Or that the occult never harms anyone? Plus the question asked for opinions more then facts, so wouldn't it be better to put down what you thought, even if you knew it wasn't accurate? I'm sure that people have been harmed in the name of Satan. The idea of Satan has existed for a long time. However, if we listed every act of violence that happened in the name of Satan, I'm sure it would be microscopic compared to the acts of violence performed in the name of Christianity.
Opinions are fine. But educated opinions are better. And I think you can even admit that you don't give Satanism a fair chance because it has "Satan" in the name. There are aspects of it that I don't agree with, but I think as a whole it's a great way for someone to live their life as it encourages people to be informed and independent.I doubt it. I mean, I think people commit evil acts partly because satan tempts them, so I blame Him far more then God. I didn't think the question was based on the knowledge you had, but on what immediatelly came to mind, so I put down what came to mind even if it wasn't entirely correct. If I had thought it was based on being informed, I would've gone looking for information on it, and maybe some links before posting. And yes, so? I hate satan, but that also means I don't hate anybody alive, even the people who worship him. Is that a bad thing? No comment. ><

Plenty bad has happened in the name of Satan, plenty of people have killed and raped and destroyed in the name of saten. But that's not what Satanism is about. And you can give your opinion while still acknowledging the facts, like I did. I think of the word 'evil' but I know it's not correct, it's just a kneejerk reaction. Maybe not all satanists, but you really think there aren't satanists that are about doing destructive thing's in satan's name? I think either form is evil. I haven't seen anything yet in this belief I'm in support of. Sorry. sweatdrop

Sanguina Cruenta xxEternallyBluexx there may be some meetings occasionally where something horrible happens, like people sitting naked in a circle and drinking blood. Why is this, in itself, horrible? Physically blood is bad for you, and the whole situation is just plain wrong. Forget the fact there's Bible verses against, if you don't feel a twinge that tells you it's wrong now, think back to when you were really little and tell me if the idea wouldn't have seemed somewhat monstrous?

Not at all. Why would I have? What does that have to do with anything anyway? Children's opinions of things are often pretty crap. I mean, kids read crap like Harry Potter and Twilight. Ew. And they watch really lame cartoons nowadays. The opinions of children aren't exactly the best yardstick. There's nothing wrong with blood in its own right (people drink blood for nutrition in some cultures, you know, particularly if food is scarce) if it's obtained in an acceptable manner. It's not like you'd be drinking a whole heap of it. There's nothing wrong with nakedness either. Wicca is practised naked. There's nothing sexual about nudity either, in its own right. There's nothing about these things that I can see that is "horrible". What are the bible verses against this, and why do these make this situation necessarily horrible? I mean, why is a thing horrible just because there's a bible verse against it? I understand that your opinion is that this is horrible somehow, based on your own emotional response to it. But I don't understand how "it's just plain wrong" is a reason for this.

Are you saying 'wrong' as in morally wrong? I don't think it's morally wrong to drink blood. Even Christians symbolically drink the blood of Christ. It may seem gross to me but as long as your not silting someone's throat and drinking their blood or anything I don't see how it is wrong.

Leviticus 17 The word they use for "blood" here is דם. I'm unfamiliar with the context of this word but from what I understand this has to do a lot with ritual cleanliness of the congregation and the passage seems to indicate that it's for the "sons of Israel".

But I don't understand how "it's just plain wrong" is a reason for this. I think we have an internal sense of right and wrong, and that it gets kinda skewed as we grow up. It's not healthy. All the iron is bad for you, you could get blood poisening, if it's your own blood you're suffering blood loss, and it's bad for your immune system. Quote: Acts 15:29 "That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well." As a Christian, the Bible's my standard. That's why. I can't really explain because I don't know how. Something about it screams wrong to me.

It's different. Plus there's the health aspect to think about. Drinking blood is bad for your body, and could make you sick.

Actually, you have the context all wrong. And דם is the only word for blood. דם("Dam") is short for אדם ("Adam"), as in Adam the father of mankind. And that verse is a Kashrut Law from Leviticus. Christians don't follow that. And I am not a Satanist, obviously, but I used to have an Agnostic friend who studied under Satanism. He never said G-d was dead, but he was fond of saying 'G-d is in the TV...' confused neutral I have always found that to be an intriging, fascinating notion...

xxEternallyBluexx I think we have an internal sense of right and wrong, and that it gets kinda skewed as we grow up. I think the opposite. I think for the most part, we learn what is moral and culturally acceptable as we grow up. Children can be quite horrible. Quote: It's not healthy. All the iron is bad for you, you could get blood poisening, if it's your own blood you're suffering blood loss, and it's bad for your immune system. How much blood do you assume these people are drinking? You'd need to drink a lot for it to give you iron poisoning, and probably over a few weeks rather than just on one night. I mean, you'd be more worried about them sitting around drinking alcohol. Quote: Acts 15:29 "That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well." As a Christian, the Bible's my standard. That's why. That's fair enough too, for your own actions. (How do you know whether or not your food has been strangled?) But non-Christians have no reason to follow your standard. Quote: I can't really explain because I don't know how. Something about it screams wrong to me. Okay. Fair enough. Just so long as you know that to others, things like this aren't particularly dreadful.
