Rondel nodded and smiled over at him. "I know!" she said excitedly. "Now from here..." she looked around. "We head back that way." she motioned with her head towards where the pass in the mountains was.
"We can check around here though to see if there's anyone around. Maybe they'll have seen Momma. Unlikely, that would have been months ago, but we can still ask." she smiled at him again and nuzzled against his side. "Want to split up and ask around for a tan mare with bells? We can meet back under the rock at sunset." she said.

He nodded and nuzzled her back happily. "Alright. ...and call me if anything happens?" He asked, looking at her hopefully. He didn't want to see her hurt further by anyone or anything.
After he got a confirmation, he turned and headed off to explore the area and seek out others to ask about Melody.

"Of course I will." she nodded then started off in another direction looking for anyone hanging around the landmark. There weren't a lot, but she managed to find a few winds, a kirin, and a pair of unicorns, but none of them had seen Melody.
Towards the end of the day, she'd come across a stallion, who tried to make a move on her. She'd threatened to kick his teeth out before trotting off to meet Crescendo. As she approached the set meeting place, she hoped he'd had better luck than she had.

Crescendo had spent the day wandering the area, mostly being completely overwhelmed by everything around him but at least managed to stop and get himself to ask about the missing mare. It was finally an older stallion with some strange mask that had given him some useful information.
He smiled when he saw Rondel coming back his way. It felt like it had been forever since he last saw her. "Any luck on your end--are you okay?"

Rondel brightened immediately upon seeing Crescendo. She trotted over to him happily and shook her head. "No, not a thing." she shrugged a bit. "Oh, some stallion thought I was to pretty to be alone, wanted to "protect" me. I threatened to kick in his teeth." she grinned and snuggled up to his side. "What about you? Anything?"

Crescendo nodded and looked around her, looking for this mysterious stallion before nuzzling her. "I ran into a much older stallion wearing some strange mask. He said he thought he saw someone that looked like Melody at some point with another blue stallion..." He finished, looking toward the mountain pass.

Rondel's eyes widened. "Papa?" she gasped. She turned her head and narrowed her eyes, then shook herself. "He must have come looking for me..." she said looking back at Crescendo. "Oh, I feel terrible now..." she said.
She looked back up at the sky and sighed. "Can't do anything else tonight, have to wait until tomorrow." she sighed, shuffling off just a bit to nibble half-heartedly at the grass.

Crescendo frowned as he watched her. It had been a long time since he last saw her that upset and unwilling to do much. He hoped the old stallion knew what he was talking about and that they would find Melody soon. For Rondel's sake anyway...
He looked around quietly and trudged off toward some fairly bright flowers nearby and began collecting up several of them.

Rondel munched and stared out at the horizon watching the darkness creep over the land. It had been awhile since she'd thought about her father or her siblings. She stamped her foot absently and flicked her tail, she'd just been so happy with Crescendo that the worries of her estranged family hadn't worried her as much, but with everything crashing back down on her, she finally took the time to worry about all the things she hadn't for months.
She finally came back from her mental wanderings and glanced over at Crescendo. She tilted her head as she watched him and stepped closer. "What are you doing?" she asked.

He jumped and looked up at her startled and ended up sending the picked flowers everywhere in confusion. Upon realizing it was just Rondel, Crescendo sighed and looked around at all his lost hard work. "I was trying to make you something to cheer you up a bit. Now it's all ruined though..." he murmured, looking at the flowers again pitifully.

Rondel blinked and watched the flowers spray everywhere. She smiled at his explanation and giggled. "Oh, Cres." she moved over to him and nuzzled him. "Thank you. Your so sweet." she murmured moving closer to him. "It was a wonderful gesture." she said.
She shifted back to look him in the eye. "Oh, Cres...I love you." she said the words just tumbling out all on their own. She then instantly blushed once she realized what she said. "I mean..uh...I love you." she said again unable to help herself.

He nodded and managed a small smile back up at her. "Glad you think so...I just wish I could have finished it for you." He finished and nudged one of the flowers gently with a hoof.
He had to do a double take at what came out of her mouth next. She...she loved him? The way he loved her? Was she really serious about this. "R-really, Rondel?" He asked, eyes widening again. "Y-you really mean that? Cus I mean I love you too, and I just didn't know how to say it before! But now that you've said it and I've said it and--" He started babbling, not really going anywhere anymore.

Rondel blinked and listened to him ramble. She let him carry on for several more minutes before laughing musically and putting her head against his. "Cres, I think your the most handsome, wonderful, sweet, amazing person I've ever met. I'm happy when I'm with you, and yes, I love you. I think I always have..I was just never sure how to say it either." she smiled at him. "Thank you for cheering me up. Tomorrow we'll make good progress and we'll find my momma, and make everything better." she paused. "And then I'll take you to the most wonderful place I've ever seen in my whole life."

Crescendo smiled brightly and nodded, nuzzling her happily. "Alright. That sounds wonderful, Rondel." He finished, happily willing to follow her anywhere now. Eventually he wandered off to nibble at the grass a bit before returning and snuggling up at her side happily.

Rondel nodded and watched him go off before going back to grazing herself, before happily settling with him for the night. Even with everything seeming so crazy and out of control, Crescendo was her safe haven, her port in the storm. She sighed happily in her sleep and snuggled closer until the sun peaked over the eastern horizon.
Rondel was up with the dawn like most days and stepped away from Crescendo stretching which lead to a short dance routine as she warmed up in the morning sun. She had a good feeling about today, with any luck everything would be better soon.
