"Dinner with my family." Jada replied to Cassius cheerfully. "A weekly obligation that satisfies my mother's need to interrogate me and be certain that I haven't forgotten my upbringing and become a bohemian while I am away at school." Away from school indeed; her family was a half hour away or so. She boarded at the school because she wanted her own space outside of the family home, not because of any need to. "Alas for them, I have my croissant. And alas for you, I don't think I need to be dressed for dinner. So I should have another 15 minutes left in which to interrogate you."
15 minutes would mean she wouldn't be reapplying her makeup for supper. How bold of her!
"I'm almost 21 years old." she looked far too innocent as she took a sip of her green tea. Seventeen was somewhat close to twenty-one... "I'm not really stressing about growing up. I just like to have what plans I can." Well-bred young women weren't impulsive. Jada wished just once that her impulses ran towards things aside from buying new pairs of shoes.

Family dinners. That made sense, he could see Jada being the proud daughter of two parents. Cassius would have been caught dead before having dinner with his father. He would have actually exploded to ever hear his father was proud of him. "Well that sounds nice." He was lying, of course. Not because it didn't sound nice to sit with a normal family and have dinner. But because he would never know what that was like. So it was easiest to just lie, because he honestly wasn't interested in that subject. "Plus, it is ok for a mother to interrogate, that just means she cares." And no one could ever hate on a mother for that. Not Cassius at least.
"Interrogate? Now that you put it that way, this does feel like an interrogation. I just wonder if you are learning anything from this deep and emotional process. I'm doing the best I can..." he winked at her of course and finished his coffee happily. Man, now he was definitely ready for the evening. He had plenty of caffeine in him to get him through any bad situations.
"Twenty one will come soon enough, and then you'll be itchin' for your youth back at that point. So just enjoy it. Even if you are at an all girl's school." Girls could do fun things together. Obviously Jada wasn't into what Cassius was thinking about. Or else she really would have loved her school and never asked about boys and Sovereign Heights at all.

She laughed, looked down at the notebook, ripped out a piece of paper, and closed the cover with a faint look of finality. "If you knew my mother, you might think differently." There was a reason her father called his wife the wicked witch. Not to say he didn't love the woman, but Jada had never known them to do much but fight. And then 'make up.'
Whatever.
She scribbled down her name and the home number on the paper and slid it across the table to Cassius. "If you like, feel free to harass me again. For all that you are..." A distinctly different class from her? "Different, your company was enjoyable. You can leave a message with the maid and I will call you back."
Neatly, her half of the chocolate croissant was polished off. As for her tea, it was a good thing she had gotten a small cup, because it was only half gone. "Twenty-one can't come soon enough." That age meant so many things. A whole chain of new possibilities opening up. "And don't pick on my school." she sniffed, gave him a look that said she was trying to be playful. "Crystal Academy is a tradition in my family." Jada pulled her purse up, setting it on the table to slip the notebook inside.

Cassius grinned when he saw Jada hand him her number. He took it quickly and nodded his head in a thank you. "Well, I am very good at harassing, so I may take you up on that. And your company was much enjoyed all the same." He definitely had a much better afternoon then expected. Time really flew by for them. They had discussed so many things as well. It wasn't often that he got to actually have meaningful conversation. "Thanks for putting up with me." Wasn't that the truth.
"Well then enjoy all the sleep-overs and pillow fights you girls get to have." Hey, he could imagine her school however he wanted. And right now he wanted to pretend that was all girls did when they were alone. Especially naked. He chuckled in her direction and knew his thoughts were too good to be true.
"Traditions are good- I am glad you are doing what your family wishes." Again, he was probably lying to be polite, but he really didn't feel like comparing his 'family' at that point. He knew in essence traditions were a good thing, he just didn't have any with his father.
Maybe who would kill who first was a tradition to be added? "I hope you enjoy your dinner as well."

As Jada slid her purse up on her shoulder and hoisted up her bag, she flashed the blonde a smile. "Well, I'd tell you a little bit about those pillow fights, but I suppose I'll have to save that for next time." She thought he might appreciate the ambiguity of the comment, and merely extended her hand. "Until next time we run into each other. I promise, next time I won't drop my book."
And with that she was moving away, cell in hand, heading out the door. If she were very lucky... Yes, she'd make it in time.
