Masaki followed Luo and his clones. For a while he couldn't help but wonder how he could possible find any traps with multiple Luo's moving in multiple ways Masaki didn't know who to follow. After a while however, he noticed something. The Luo's who had been moving independently all did the same thing. They all did the same diving in much the same way. Masaki wasn't always the sharpest spoon in the drawer, but he did have his moments. They were definitely dodging a trap. Masaki, who had fallen slightly behind, quickly moved to a lower level in the forest, going below where he believed the trap was. Then he moved back up and continued his path.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As Masaki followed Luo he grinned, the boy was learning. But the next ones were damn difficult to dodge. So much so in fact, the clones split onto the higher and lower levels of the forest, Luo taking the middle. This didn't allow for Masaki to simply follow the trio into evading the trap set forth. As the next one came about, it was on the mid level and spanned from their to the canopy. The difficulty in it was that the clones had tossed it near an array of spider webs you had to go through. Luo, sped too far ahead for Masaki to see, and so did the clones. He then burst into a spray of mist and simply breezed through the hazard. Appearing on the other side, he continued, tossing a kunai into the webs and slicing a few to make it seem as if he too had passed through.
This trap was dangerously fast and very close and it would be one of three final tests for Masaki's reflexes. If the boy didn't come out of this the better, allowing him to pay more attention to detail, he didn't know what would.

Masaki followed Luo as he again changed things up. Masaki wouldn't be able to pull the same trick twice. Luo must have planned everything right up to the traps Masaki would and would not trigger. Masaki was beginning to lose track of Lup, but he left signs of his path. Like a broken spiderweb up ahead. Masaki jumped through the hole Luo had left in the web only to feel something snap. Webs weren't that strong, and Masaki could already hear several objects bearing down on him. He was too far up in the canopy to use any doton and he didn't know any useful suiton moves for the situation. Instead, he simply jumped as hard as he could to get out of range of the weapons. He caught onto a treebranch awkwardly, and pulled himself up to his feet before falling off and having to catch himself on another branch. He had a couple shuriken embedded in his legs, deep. Luo wasn't playing around with these things, they were designed to kill. He pulled the shuriken out thanking his luck that he wasn't hit head on. He tore a bit of cloth off and wrapped it around the cuts, and took off after Luo once more. He had fallen behind, but Luo's messy antics were leaving back a trail of broken limbs. Masaki had to be careful though, Luo had planned on him going through that web.

He noticed him pulling out shuriken and shook his head as he went on. As the three Luo's moved in tandem, the next trap was a trick even Luo didn't expect from himself. The wire was completely invisible, hidden by a shadow cast by the leaves. And as he ran into it, a horde of Kunai shot at him. Flipping forward and dodging a few, he landed and blocked the rest with reflexes like a cat, pulling out a kunai and deflecting the rest, one grazing by and taking a strand of his hair. The trick there as Luo figured, was that it was to trick Masaki into thinking that Luo had accidentally tripped the wire. Where the real one was however, he really didn't know.

Masaki followed Luo past what looked like a tripped trap. Several kunai were embedded in the trees. A wire lay across the branch, but Masaki stepped on it thinking that the trap couldn't possible fire twice. Again, the annoying whistle of shuriken being released, brought Masaki to attention. This time, he had a plan. As he jumped he performed a couple of handseals with his left hand as he grabbed a kunai with his right. He hadn't even realized the significance of what he had done until after he was safe from the sharp teeth of Luo's training. "Mizu bunshin!" he declared, as he continued to get out of the way of the pointy objects. A bunshin appeared to his side, and while Masaki wasn't able to get out of the way in time, the bunshin took the pointy teeth of pain for him. Masaki deflected a few stray shuriken, and managed to escape with only a few cuts. He took a moment to catch his breath and let his aching feet rest before chasing after Luo once more.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As he continued on a bit excited at the surprise his clones had given him, he couldn't help but wonder what the last on was. And then he found it.....or rather, it found him. To move forward without setting off the first wire was impossible and even maneuvering through any of them would only set off more than the first. The last mile and the last trap was in itself a web which spanned the last bit of forest. Flipping to dodge a few and stopping one by catching it with his left hand, throwing the one in his right at two which were aimed at the same point, and using the one he caught to block the rest. However, this left Luo and Masaki with a problem.
As Luo had neglected to properly calculate, he had taken the easy step...something his clones knew he would out of initial instinct. However, Masaki was left charging through what was set up to set them all off. This above all the rest was to trigger the Mokuton bloodline and cause the boy to defend himself. Luo however, cascaded into a puddle of water, pouring down onto the rainforest floor. It would be this final trap that Luo hoped triggered what he suspected to exist.

Masaki could sense that they were reaching the end of the challenge, and he began to rush himself. This was fun and all, but he wanted to actually learn something. Besides, at his quickened pace, any traps he tripped would likely miss him. Well, that was the theory anyways. Even if Masaki hadn;t foolishly tripped, the next trap was unavoidable. But he had indeed tripped over a stray kunai lodged in a tree, and found himself hurtling forwards towards the ground. He caught himself on a branch , but knew that he had tripped an insane number of wires during his fall. He was in for it now. What was mere whistling before, was a loud howl this time as Kunai hurled themselves at him from every direction. Masaki let go of the branch and landed on a lower branch, before looking around. His last hope was lost. There wasn't a single gap in the approaching wall of kunai, in a few seconds Masaki and the trees around him would be pincushions. No bunshin would protect him this time. Even if he was on the ground, the doton wall wouldn't stop half of them. Masaki backed up against the tree, giving him a small measure of hope. Perhaps he should turn and face the tree so he would be recognizeable when Luo came to claim his body. Luo wasn't trying to train him, the man was literally trying to kill Masaki. As much as that pleased the young genin, he was even more terrified of his fate. His hands shook uncontrollably as he stared at the approaching mist of sharp pointy things of pain. "This one is going to hurt..." he said quietly, as he threw up his arms in an attempt to protect himself. If only he had taught me something useful. Let's see me kick these kunai away. were his last thoughts. At least, they should have been. Somehow, in his final moments of terror, his chakra acted on his own. His eyes were shut, and he barely realized it was happening, but his chakra had somehow reached a level of unity that he had never felt before. All he could do was count the seconds towards his impending doom. 1 The weight of the tree began to shift. The wave of shuriken and kunai must be at a damned high velocity to move the tree. 2]/i] Weren't they almost there? 3 There was no way they were moving that slow. 4 Masaki opened his eyes and moved his arms, to look. Maybe Luo had somehow saved him. He could see kunai embedded in the end of the branch, but it took him a second to realize nothing was within 2 feet of Masaki. He looked up, expecting to see some miracle, but he wasn't expecting what he saw. Two massive "arms" extended from the sides of the tree, and crossed each other just over Masaki. He could see a hint of kunai and shuriken embedded in the edges. The tree had copied Masaki's movement when he moved his arms to protect himself. Masaki on the other hand, collapsed. There was, after all, a limit to the boy's chakra. The massive arms had taken almost everything. His eyes closed slowly, and his body went limp. He had become stronger.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner Picking the boy up and hefting him on his shoulder, Luo sighed. He didn't expect the feat to knock him out, but he'd certainly wake him up. Finishing the circuit back to the camp, Luo threw him into the water to jolt him awake. It was only four in the afternoon, and there was oh so much more to learn. As he would awake Luo muttered, "What you experienced back there is exactly what I expected. You are a rare breed of shinobi Masaki, capable of controlling the wood release, or Mokuton. The most famous user of this ability was technically the first Kage of any village to exist: Hashirama Senjuu."
Letting it sink in, Luo continued on. "Hashirama Senjuu used the ability you have to essentially create the forests of Konohagakure, having been the only one in his family capable of harnessing the Mokuton release. His influence stretched far and wide over the shinobi world, and it was this release which allowed him to tame and seal the tailed beasts. In repeating what you should have learned in the academy, you should know this: What you have is a gift not to be taken lightly. I will teach it in part to you, but you will have to be capable of teaching it to yourself. Now, do not make me out to be a liar. I intend for you to possess a strength far more than you thought existed in yourself."

"So you weren't trying to kill me?" He pulled himself out of the water. and cleaned the water from his ears. A second groan then emerged from his stomach. "More importantly, you mentioned something about lunch?" Masaki pulled off his shiry to wring most of the water out. While he could easilly use water manipulation, he didn't want to risk it knowing his chakra was so low. Besides, the cool water was somewhat refreshing. Putting the shirt back on he approached Luo. Food would be a really good Idea. ----------------------------- chakra 20/38

Merely trying to coax out what I believed to be there in the first place. After you eat, we will begin training as far as ninjutsu goes. You will learn suiton first and doton afterwards. I can't say that I'm an expert on the element seeing as how it isn't one of my own, but knowing a few of it's jutsu already you should be able to figure out how it works." It wasn't this Luo found would be difficult teaching, but Mokuton itself. It was something the boy would have to learn to understand, without too much help on Luo's part other than mere guesstimates. He hoped that he could guess correctly on the mechanics of Mokuton for his sake and Masaki's.

((Is Luo allowed to teach Mokuton? teaching masters have a benefit to be able to teach from scrolls, which I would think means that noone else can...)) Masaki ate his food at a slower pace than normal to let his body rest and then stood up. "Alright, so what's first. I already learned a bunch of Academy suiton and doton techs..."

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As Luo approached him, he motioned for him to stand up from eating. "First things first, you're going to learn defensive maneuvers before offensive. The first thing I'm going to teach you is the water shield technique. The first line of defense as far as suiton goes, it can also act offensively, something not many genin seem to comprehend and use to the full advantage. Using your current mastery of water manipulation, it's capable of tendrils, spikes, hands, and most other appendages used to keep away close range attacks. First you will get the basic jutsu down, and then move onto learning how to create the appendages. These will be the hand seals."
Going through them slowly and methodically, he made sure the boy could understand them well. Nodding after repeating them twice he muttered, "Now, you try." As he said this, a shield arose around him and he demonstrated the different appendages it was capable of. He would see just how well the boy could grasp the concept.
Mizu Tate no Jutsu (Water Shield Technique) Description: A shield of water is formed around the user as a cylindrical barrier that reaches just above the user's head. After the initial creation that user can manipulate the water, allowing for water spikes, tentacles, hands and the like, though these appendages are not dexterous enough to handle a weapon. The bad thing is that the shield isn't that reliable against ninjutsu. However, an opponent who is strong enough can break through the shield.

((Sorry. Kinda busy this week.)) Masaki watched the handseals, and the technique, with mixed feelings. He had wanted to learn Mokuton jutsu before, but now it seemed like he was right on the doorstep to learning it, and his sensei went on to learn something else. Even so, the jutsu did seem interesting at least more so than most defensive jutsu. Jutsu like the stone wall etc. tended to defend from attacks but also kept the user from attacking as well. This one seemed weaker, but at least he wouldn't be hiding. He practiced the handseals several times, though the sequence wasn't much more complex than the other ninjutsu he had learned. Then he began forming his chakra, this he did quickly and without much thought. [post 1/4]

Masaki had already finished the two preliminary stages of jutsu creation, now for the main event. Fabrication. He had to give the jutsu it's proper form and function, as well as the strength to hold up against weak attacks. From what Masaki had learned of the nature of water, it didn't use brute force to stop attacks, and it didn't shy away. It instead absorbed them, sometimes even retailiating in the same move. This jutsu was essentially a personification of water, since it could defend and attack at the same time. Knowing this, Masaki formed the shield by simply forming the water around himself. He knew that this wouldn't be able to block so much as a kunai, but he needed to know what he was working from. When using Doton to form such a jutsu you would build a framework then work from that, but suiton didn't really work with a frame but rather a shell that you filled with water. This was what Masaki was building. [2/2]

The jutsu was not yet complete, and Masaki knew it. From this shell, Masaki began constructing the true shield of the jutsu, he began thickening the water and started designing it so that it could fight off the enemies attacks. This part was most difficult, but eventually Masaki of moving the water. It was a simple concept once the boy realized it, moving water was far more dangerous than still water. You could easilly swim whereever you wish in a controlled pool, but it is difficult to swim in the stream of a quick moving river. At this realization, Masaki began turning the water, forcing it to spin tapidly around him and changing currents. A kunai that got caught in the torrent would be knocked deflected easily by the shield, but Masaki could tell that stronger attacks would break through. He wasn't finished yet though. [post 3/4]
The final step was potentially the easiest step. Once he got the shield up all he really had to do theoretically speaking was use water manipulation to create arms and other dangerous formations. Of course, Masaki's theories were rarely spot on, and this was no exception. The quick-moving water of the shield made it difficult to make a still form in it such as a tentacle etc. Because the water was being pulled away from the form, it didn't develop easily, and what did develop was puled along the rest of the current. Eventually, Masaki managed to incorporate the current to help build the appendage he tried to make, and a long strong arm reached for a rock. Unfortunately he couldn't pick it up, so he just whipped it into the trees to test the beast's strength. After taking a satisfied moment to look at his work, Masaki broke the jutsu and let the water collect with a nearby puddle. "What's next sensei?" He asked, trying his best to compose himself with the excitement of potentially learning Mokuton. [4/4]
