The message was lost on Ladon who didn’t like to be touched by strangers, even though Ellie probably assumed they were acquaintances by now, and who really didn’t get why she was jabbing his side with her elbow. Seeing as she was an energetic girl, he was just guessing she was playing around and being rough with him, and he stood his ground, nudging her to get some space. Why was she obsessed with touching him? First she smacked his back before the race, something that nearly made him fall over, and now she was trying to push him on his side. All her mannerisms were foreign to him, coming from a home where using your inside voice and behaving properly took the place of brofists, nudges, and roughhousing. His only male influence in life had been his father, but their time together had been relatively safe and quite.
Still, it was good that he was quick with the lie that Ellie was using, and looking at her with a raised eyebrow, he caught on at the last moment and turned back around. “Uh, yeah. Well, it’s not much of a con if you win. I did agree after all.” For all her shoving, he almost wanted to say that he gave Ellie a ten and that she owed him a 5 in change, but he kept his mouth shut. It probably wouldn’t have worked anyways.
Okay, he couldn’t fell his fingers anymore. If he stood around, he was going to loose them to this chill. “Sorry to cut this short, but I left my jacket at the starting line.” He pointed farther off where he left his things, not wanting anyone to think they were for sale or even go so far as to steal them. “it was nice meeting you.” More like bizarre. “I’ll…seen you around, Ellie.” As in he would see her when she finally settled on a date and decided to tell him when they were going to have a rematch. Aside from that, he didn’t see their paths crossing much. One loud girl in preferred metal shops and garages to a boy who liked being outside and running. He felt pretty sure he wouldn’t see much of Miss Ellie Spectre, and he wasn’t quite sure if that was a good or bad.
What was he saying? Considering her loud voice and talent for being horribly blunt, it had to be a plus!
With an obligatory wave, he headed back to the starting line, not 5 dollars richer or poorer, but not able to gloat much either.

Ellie grinned as Ladon completed her lie. He wasn't completely clueless at least. It was a bit of a surprise when he pulled away to go get his jacket, hurrying his farewells and not even allowing the tomboy a chance to offer him a fist bump in departure. Such a pity. Not letting her disappointment show, she simply called out "See ya, Shepard!" She had the energy for waving, but it wasn't really her nature to wave her arm around like some girl. Instead, she nodded her head one time.
Mr. Spectre was the more polite of the two it would seem, as he did offer a small wave. "Nice to meet you as well, Ladon!" When the boy was out of sight, the man turned to his daughter and commented "It's nice to meet some of your friends on occasion." He was smiling, for he had been very sincere. With his work schedule it was a shot in the dark as to meeting his daughter's friends.
"He ain't my friend. Jus' some kid that goes t'school with me."
Well, there went Mr. Spectre's smile. The man turned back to the flea market, then to Ellie again. "Just be glad your mother wasn't here to see that. Why in the world did you do that anyways?"
The girl glanced away indifferently and shrugged. "Eh, I was bored I guess." She paused before glancing back to her father. "You find anything interestin' in there?"
The man nodded. "I had just found something I wanted to purchase when you ran past."
There was an awkward pause. An awkward pause which the girl broke after a minute or so. "I'll see ya later then." She lifted a hand up, gave one wave, then walked back into the flea market.
She left her father there, standing and shaking his head, muttering something that resembled "...that girl..."
