"Thats a shame." Cass remarked, thinking of all those eggs gone to waste, even if it was just a green's clutch, flits were flits. The blond had always rather been of the belief that greens really weren't so stupid as people made them out to be. Not so dominant as golds, sure, but that didn't mean that with some proper handling they couldn't be just as useful.
"Say, did you hear about that Beastcraft Journeywoman that arrived recently?" she asked curiously. She had heard, through the grapevine, that a journeywoman had moved here to the weyr with the weyrleaders permission and had been helping people better train their flits "Apparently she's some sort of specialist in firelizards. Maybe she could help you get Hinalle to come to you?" she pointed out, watching as the green flit hovered around them as they walked. She certainly was a pretty little thing. Such a shame she didn't seem to like to be touched.
Cass admitted privately that it sounded an awful lot like L'pins dragon just plain didn't like other people, but she knew that riders were very protective of their bond mates, so she was hardly about to say that to his face. It must get rather lonely though, she thought.
"Well, at least you have Shamth to keep you company while you work." she said with a smile.

"To be honest I'd rather like Hinalle to live how she wants to live rather than have someone make her through lessons. She comes to me when she wants and has never once done anything to make me hate her, so why should I force her into something that would make her more unhappy? Hinalle is best as she is and I don't want to force anything on her. Of course, me having this attitude is why people say Shamth is the way he is, but there's nothing wrong with him."
L'pin closed his eyes for a moment as though confirming something, a link perhaps between himself and the Blue that rested outside in the sunlight, and soft smile appeared on his lips the moment his eyes re-opened. Whatever it was he had found it, and he seemed reassured.
"You seem to be getting more color in your face, and it looks like your hand is doing better. Do you feel okay?"

Cass couldn't help but smile at his reply "Well if you put it that way, I guess you're right. Or at least, one can hardly fault you. You're far to nice I think." she teased, and then spared a moment to glance at her hand, but didn't dwells on it."Yeah, talking helps keep my mind off of it. So long as I don't move it, it doesn't hurt too badly." she said, but quickly turned the conversation away from her hand before she could think on it too much and start feeling sick again.
"I recognize that look." she said with a smile as he got that faraway look that all dragonriders did when conversing with their dragons "He saying anything particular?" she asked curiously. She wondered what riders and their dragons talked about. Sharing such a close link must be a curious thing. Did Shamth know everything his rider did as he did it all the time? Or only when he focused on him? And vice versa?
"What's it like, being bonded?" she asked then, looking up at him with honest curiosity in her large dark eyes, brushing a few stray strands of blond hair from them with her good hand as she did so. "In candidate classes they say that you share a mental link...but that's not very descriptive. People with firelizards seem to understand it better but..." she shrugged helplessly, wondering if words could even accurately describe such a connection.

"He didn't say much, only that he was ready for me to return to his side because he has had his fill of sunshine and other dragons. Apparently someone seems rather keen on talking to him and he's not in a chatty mood today. Shamth also seems to know that I'm long since done with my chores so there's no need for me to hang around any longer."
L'pin turned his head slightly as if he were being hailed again, and Hinalle flashed out of sight almost instantly as well. The smile that had been on L'pin's face had quickly shifted to a frown, his eyes cast downward and suddenly his whole posture rather listless. It was like he had to go, then and there, with hardly anything else to say to Cass. There was no time to take her anywhere further, he was needed somewhere else.
"Cass, sorry. I've got to go now, something has come up. Please take care and get your hand looked at, and don't hesitate to try to find Yulu if there is anything you need. She may seem like a horrible person but she'd probably one of the very few honest people left in this Weyr."
He didn't say anything else as L'pin turned on his heels and started a brisk walk in the direction of the Weyrbowl, the whole time his thoughts focusing one something farther away.

Cass wasn't entirely sure what to say about such a comment from a riders dragon. It seemed kind of...mean, to pull the man away if he was having a good time (assuming he was of course). If the dragon was tired of being chatted at, surely it could move off on its own. the impression seemed even stronger when he went listless, much to her surprise.
"No, no its fine." Cass reassured him "The infirmary is just around the corner anyways. Thanks so much for escorting me." she said, though she wondered if he heard her, judging by that look on his face. She hoped that, in time, his dragon would be better about letting his rider to socialize. Even when one was bonded to a dragon, surely they got lonely for human company...She watched him disappear down the hall, then sighed and entered the infirmary to get her hand looked at.
