(Wow, that block does sound serious.)

Mira nodded and whispered a 'goodnight' as Kaito left. He wished he could move through the house as well, but it was impossible. If he walked, it would be in this mirror dimension, and in a way it's just staying in the same place. A world in the mirror was a world of nothingness. If he had to be trapped here forever, if he were to only see darkness and never see color again, then he wanted to at least hear a single cry of a bird in the morning.

If only he could go to Heaven where his family now resides... he could move around as much as he liked. He could always see the blue sky and never have to worry about a thing. He would be together with his family and forget about despair. There would be no more tears, no more agony... no more loneliness. If Yorukage had never sealed him in the prison, maybe they could have lived a happier life centuries ago.

Even after everything Yorukage had done to him, Mira didn't wish for him to rot in Hell like many would. Even after all these centuries in which he had been drowning in sorrow, he couldn't keep hating. Though he never wanted to admit it, he had forgiven Yorukage a long time ago. He had never really understood why he was trapped here, but he had come to accept that there had to be some reason.

Kaitou woke with a start, sitting up quickly. The sheets pooled around his waist, a flash of pajama bottoms dark against the light bed-cover. Sweat glistened along his forehead in the pale light coming from a window with the curtains pulled back.

His heart was racing as he stood up, moving like a man possessed, and walked to the bookshelf he kept in his room. It was where the remaining spellbooks his family owned were kept. His hand found the right book before his eyes did.

He brought the book to his desk and opened it, reaching out to turn on the lamp to see better what was written on the old book.

He carefully flipped through the pages, stopping at the page that matched the one in his dream. He poured over the words, memorizing the spell. In it, he found the key that unlocked the soul of his ancestor, merging him and his ancestor fully into one being.

He could suddenly remember every detail of his ancestor's life, including the thoughts and reasons behind sealing Mira away as he had. The raw emotions almost overwhelmed him, as he sat there silently crying. He wasn't even aware that tears were being shed until a drop hit his hand.

Now he could help Mira return to this world, free him from the mirror where he was trapped... And perhaps earn Mira's forgiveness? He could only hope so.

Face set with determination, Kaitou stands and walks to the mirror in which Mira resided. What he didn't realize, though, is that his presence was now identical to the ancestor that spelled Mira into the mirror. Even his eyes had taken on the reddish-purple tint of Yorukage magic that his ancestor had, more so than his usual brown color.

(No problems.)

Mira was sure that something was wrong. Somehow, it seemed that Yorukage was approaching. But how? It's been nearly a thousand years! No human being could live that long! Well, Mira himself had been a human, but that was before he was sealed here! He was never able to age since then. Heck, he was practically an immortal just because of Yorukage.

Shaking his head, he looked out the window to the other world. He wasn't sure if he was staring at Kaito or Yorukage. Kaito's eyes looked a little different and he almost looked like Yorukage. But how was it possible that he was there? Maybe it was because of some kind of magic. After all, Yorukage had always been interested in magic, right?

Kaito saw Mira’s reaction to his return, which was the first warning bell that his Ancestor’s presence was close by the surface of his being. He could feel something in him stirring at the close proximity to Mira, a voice both similar and different to his own speaking a single name, Mira with so much emotion it was almost overwhelming.

He opened his mouth, but it was Yorukage who spoke the words that came forth.

”I am glad to see you still alive, my love. And I apologize with all of my being for having done this to you. But I had no choice. You would have been burned alive as a witch, or as a witch’s familiar spirit, and it would have been my fault.” His voice faltered for a moment, a pained look crossing his features, before his voice returned to continue before Mira could speak.

”The witch burnings came to our small island nation, and my family was under suspicion. Rightly so, since we had been involved with it since our early days.. However, we were nobility, and thus protected at the time. Your family, then, was to be targeted, you in particular because we spent so much time together.

“If I had left you in this world like that, you would have been sent ‘back to the hell from whence you’ supposedly come from. I couldn’t. I wouldn’t let them do that to you. How could an angel such as yourself be sent to hell as a demon? I cast the spell, then one on myself. So that we could meet again in another life and live our life without fear of persecution.”
Yorukage’s hold on him lifted then, and he was himself again, only with full memory of his ancestors life and with his ancestors magic.

”Mira, I can free you… Will you let me into your heart as my ancestor once was?” It was a simple solution; Mira needed to meet the one he loves and accept them into his heart. Because of his feelings of betrayal by Yorukage, his heart had been protected and blocked off. Now it needed to open to love again.

For a moment, Mira was conflicted. He really wanted to say 'yes', but at the same time he wanted to refuse. Sure he felt that he couldn't stand another day in the mirror, but was it worth another risk of a breaking heart. Even if Yorukage had sealed him for a good reason, he could have told Mira before, right?

"I don't know," was all he said. He just couldn't reach a decision. What if something else happens? How long would the next period misery last then? Hopefully, it wouldn't be so long, but in the new world anything can turn out worse. If anything, he might actually face a fate worse than being sealed in a mirror, and that was something he didn't want.

He saw the confusion in those eyes that he felt such deep love for, saw the doubt, the fear. He couldn’t blame Mira for not trusting him, for not trusting his ancestor. He gave Mira a reassuring, understanding, smile.

”You can take your time to think on it… I will not rush you into anything. Whatever you decide is up to you.” He felt disappointment, though, that Mira did not immediately open up to him, his ancestor’s disappointment, but pushed it away angrily. Mira had a right to mistrust Yorukage! And he told the traces of his ancestor just that.

Kaitou would wait for as long as he needed to for Mira’s final decision, even though he was bound by human mortality unlike the other. If needed, Kaito would wait until his next life to be reunited with Mira. It was frustrating, though, not knowing how much of the feelings he had for Mira were his own and how much was his ancestors. But it wasn’t important, since he knew that he’d felt love for Mira before his ancestor was present in his consciousness.

"I'm really sorry if you're offended," Mira said quite regretfully. "I just don't want history to repeat itself, or result in something worse." He really didn't want to hurt Kaitou's feelings, if they were hurt in the firstplace. It was a good thing Kaitou seemed to understand the indecisiveness of the situation. Much like Yorukage from the past, he was an understanding person.

As much as he wanted to, Mira really did want to trust Kaitou and accept Yorukage's reason for the Sealing, but how would he be able to when he had been in the mirror for centuries? He had been trapped until he was near insanity, having seen so many loved ones die and knowing that he wouldn't be able to follow them? Anyone would hold a grudge because of that. Sure, eternal life was a big issue back then, but it really wasn't as great as it seemed to be. On the contrary, it was terrible!

”Not offended, no. I can understand that it must be hard to trust someone who had sort of betrayed you like that.. Though I must admit its disappointing… Ah no, I mean there’s this part of me that feels disappointed that you won’t trust me immediately, but I think that’s just the remnants of my ancestor’s emotions” He stopped talking before he said something that might make this worse, if things weren’t okay already, and coughed into his hand, searching for a safer subject.

(It's no problem.)

"I'm glad you understand," Mira said, smiling a little. "I don't think many others would feel the same way you do." He was glad that Kaito was here. After so many centuries, he had finally had someone to talk to who would understand him. For the first time in almost a millenium, he was happy. But another fact popped into his mind and now he was scared. For the first time in almost a millenium, he seemed to have fallen in love again.

Kaitou nodded, giving a smile that said Mira could take his time in deciding. He was about to say something else when his cellphone went off to Crisis After Crisis from the Naruto soundtrack, otherwise known as Gaara's theme. The only one that had that was a co-worker of his...

"Hai, Moshi moshi?" He listened to his friend and his relaxed posture was replaced with an alert one. "Hontōdesu ka?" He asked, voice serious and almost worried-sounding. "Aa, wakarimashita, watashi wa sugu sokodarou." He ended the call when he wrote the location down and turned to Mira.

"Gomen, Mira-kun... A friend of mine, who is also a co-worker, went missing an hour ago and missed a scheduled check-in with HQ. They want me to go in and find her." He explained, his eyes the only sign that he was actually very worried about his friend and colleague. He wondered if there could be a way for Mira to come with him, without having Mira exit the mirror that is, or if the other would even want to. Then he remembered a spell that would allow him to shrink an object's physical size, which should not affect Mira's side of it, and which would also provide protection for him since it would likely be a dangerous situation.

"Would you want to come along? Ah, not trying to get you to decide to leave... just thought it would be interesting for you to see what I do besides work with antiques." He didn't have much time to waste, but he thought he'd at least offer it, rather than leave the other there.

(No prob.)

Mira quirked one eyebrow, not really understanding Kaitou. "What do you mean?" he asked. "Are you saying you can take the mirror and carry it around with you?" If Kaitou had some kind of plan that did involve carrying around a mirror, then it seemed there was nothing that could stop him. It was rather strange, though. Even people who lived centuries ago didn't carry large mirrors around.

After thinking about it for a while, Mira sighed. "In that case, guess I would like to come with you," he said. "I would like to see how much this world has changed. It's been such a long time since I've seen the outside." He started reminiscing about the past, wondering if everything had either changed or stayed exactly the same.

It would be nice to see the changed and modern world. Who knows what he could see? Maybe while he was trapped in the mirror, the people outside had learned to fly. Or maybe they learned to use magic freely without any fears of persecution. If this was such a world, Yorukage would have loved to live here and do whatever he wanted to do without having to hide everything he did.

Kaitou blinked for a moment, then chuckled as he realized how it would have likely sounded. "Ah, no i meant I would transfer you into a smaller mirror, and you would be able to return to the one you are currently in if you so wished... sort of like.. adding a new room to the one you're in." He tried thinking of the most clear reference for the other to understand, since modern-day movie references would likely not make any sense to the boy.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small hand mirror-shaped pendant, one which was fairly small. It had a proper mirror face on one side and was engraved in the back. The whole thing, chain included, was silver. "I know it looks like it would be small, but it is only small to the outside world, it would likely be the same size as your current location. Also, you would see just as much through it as you would with the mirror you are currently in.

As though he were reading Mira's face, Kaitou spoke up. "Things are a lot different than they were from a thousand or so years ago... There are cars, the streets are no longer dirt or cobblestone but instead are paved... The city is fairly large and loud... There's electricity, television, internet, moving pictures on the big screen, towers and building that reach to the heavens, so many things that would boggle your mind. Magic isn't quite so believed-in anymore, well, real magic isn't. There are 'Magicians' who pretend at magic with tricks that aren't very hard to learn without the least bit of magical aptitude.. Many things here would likely seem as magic to people from your time..."

"Now, about transferring you to this... all you need do is imagine a door in your mind as I prepare a room in this..." He instructed, holding the small necklace-mirror between them in a way that Mira would be able to connect the door to the imagined room. He pictured one that was a little more pleasant and modernly decorated with a bookshelf containing knowledge of the modern world and history books with accurate information from Mira's time to modern-day. Also there, was a fireplace which would provide more-than-ample lighting and warmth, with a plush lazy-boy sofa chair in dark blue before the fire and somewhat to the side of it. Above the mantel of the fireplace was a piece of artwork which was a replica of one of the famous renaissance paintings.

There was a simple, though finely decorated, dark wood door opposite to the fireplace and on the wall perpendicular to the bookshelf on the left wall. The right wall had a smaller shelf with modern-day Japanese manga of all kinds, not only shojo manga and shounen manga, but yaoi manga's as well. beside that was a desk with various other things neatly arranged upon it. He'd have added a laptop computer, but doubted that the magic involved would create a working computer and so decided to leave it out. Also on that wall was the large window into the outside world...

(Yes, it is long, and entertaining. It definitely does more than make up for your absence. As for PM's, I never thought of the possibility, as I thought it might bother you.)

Mira was a bit unsure at first, but then he complied and imagined a door. It was identical to the one at home, or at least what he remembered of it, and now he was starting to become homesick. He tried to shake the thought off his mind, but it clung to his mind and wouldn't disappear. The homesickness and the desire to return to the outside world was starting to overcome his heart. But he had already told Kaito that he wasn't sure if he could accept him yet.

Before long, it seemed that a door did appear before Mira, with all the likeness of what he remembered of the door at his previous home. He wondered if it was safe to open it, for he didn't know if Kaito had finished making the room. What would happen if he opened the door before the room was finished?
