An acquaintance of mine is killing herself with cannabis. You say there's no bad side-effects but isn't the whole dying part sort of proof otherwise?
I mean, I can see WHY people say it's fine- you take it in moderation- but you forget how easy it is for people to get hooked, especially in the impressionable modern age, and then BAM you're in debt and dying from it.
For that reason I'm staying well clear, but if you want to smoke it then I have nothing against that.
And wait, mercury in cigarettes? What did I miss?

If you don't trust the middle men, make friends with a grower. Go and see how the stuff is grown, grow it yourselves. Lol, it'd be alot simpler than worrying over bunk and shwag.

Because it's not. And where did you hear/read about cigarettes having mercury?

Considering all of the crap that's in cigarettes, mercury wouldn't be my only worry.
And as far as marijuana goes, I don't know about the use, but the business aspect definitely contributes to the worst aspects of society. And I would contest that marijuana can be a gateway drug for some people, just as a Big Mac can be a gateway to weighing 600 pounds.

I say we legalize it and tax the hell out of it. Then maybe my grand kid's grand kids won't being paying for this huge debt that the U.S government has so gracously left us to deal with.

However, I think legalization would open up a whole new can of worms.

It's a money making opportunity. Besides, isn't telling someone they can't smoke some or be in possession of something taking away their free will?

Rolan di Fenris It's a money making opportunity. Besides, isn't telling someone they can't smoke some or be in possession of something taking away their free will? Like I said, another can of worms. I could ask you if making it illegal to shoot another person is taking away free will. No one is stopping you from smoking pot (or shooting people for that matter), but if you're caught then expect to be punished. I don't particularly understand the illegality of something as innocuous as marijuana, given that alcohol and tobacco are legal. It is a money-making opportunity, but if marijuana was no longer illegal then it wouldn't be nearly as lucrative for anybody involved.
