She was taken completely by surprise when Elly suddenly cut off her conversation, grabbed her wrist, and took off. At least her coffee didn't spill all over, but a little more of an advance warning might have been nice...

"Well, that was sudden." She eyed the parrot in the shop warily. For some reason birds made her a little uneasy, but only ones like parrots that tried to mimic people.

Blossom smiled brightly and took the payment from Sunil once she had managed to get the proper payment figured out. She tucked it into her apron pocket, making a mental note to put it with the rest of the day's earnings the next time she went into the kitchen. "Start of a new year, indeed," Blossom chirped. She adjusted the way her apron lay against her chest, then paused as she heard the front door open.

A new person. He looked kind of... uncomfortably uncertain. He looked nice enough, but that didn't seem to be him. Not to mention the ominous background music Ganon was now playing for him.

"Just like Ganon said, she isn't in yet." Blossom scurried over to the new arrival, pausing a couple of feet away from where he was leaning back comfortably in the booth. "No, I can serve alcohol, we just don't have anyone who does that stuff in right now. We've got other drinks, though. Our regulars know most of the menu already but you're new, so... would you like me to get you a menu?" Blossom bounced a little and turned to where they rested in a wire basket, sitting on the table near the kitchen window.

"You can't blame yourself. Blaming yourself and falling into depression, it won't change anything.
You have to look forward. Remember what you have here now.

Elibe or anywhere else!"

{Amelia}
The new year had certainly arrived well. Amelia hummed quietly to herself as she laced up her boots, glad to have the cold weather clothes. They had certainly served Rhys and her well while up in the snowy mountains of Estarcia. The knowledge of what had happened while they were gone was sobering, to say the least, but everything turned out well, thankfully.

The General smiled a little to herself, remembering the late honeymoon, and stood up, pulling her coat on. She buttoned it up to her sternum, adjusted her gloves over her hands, and exited the house, her money satchel tucked into one pocket.

Eyris looked so nice on snowy days, Amelia decided as her boots crunched across the blanketed sidewalks. Cold weather was always nice. People complained about the cold and the wind and the snow, and they did have a point: Excessively cold days were almost painful to deal with, especially those who had to patrol as part of their work, and snow gave wagons more than enough trouble to deal with, but winter just had something about it that made it better.

Probably the snow.

She didn't have a particular destination, not moving to the Cafe or the marketplace specifically. She simply strolled down the street, enjoying the snow and the weather in a brief moment of solitude, what with Rhys being busy at the hospital. Hard worker, that Rhys was. Amelia smiled, thinking now of him, and continued to walk.

Clara wandered the streets of Eyris. She has a different change of clothes then a few months ago. It was a bit colder, but not as cold as it was in Leara mind you, but cold. She was wearing a white jacket, white boots, black stockings and a purple battle dress. Her sword was on her left hip like it always was. She wouldn't go anyway without it. She didn't want to get attacked by a random person.

She was currently looking for this place called the Hostess Club or something like that. She heard it was a good place for a good breakfast meal. Not that there was anything wrong with breakfast at the Duke's head, she just wanted to try someplace else. There was nothing wrong with that.

"Now where is it?" She said out loud. Poor Clara, she's been here for a few months and still doesn't know exactly where everything is.

Vika cursed to herself. It wasn't the first time she'd uttered such words in the last several hours, and by the time this month was over she imagined she'd likely be cursing much more. Since her new financial analyst was currently out, she'd taken it upon herself to come in extremely early and crunch a few numbers herself. Yes, it was true, the Host Club hardly did anything. But they threw parties, and people always attended them. The Hostess Club was little more than a specialized full-service restaurant. They had cakes, deli sandwiches, desserts, and booze -- but was it really enough to win this wager? According to her numbers, it was going to be close. And even though half of these proceeds were going to paying off the debt that Kris had racked up (yes, that was her story and she was sticking to it), losing this bet was not something that she would be very happy with. Especially considering the circumstances of the loss.

She sighed and looked at the large grandfather clock that stood in the corner. People thought running a restaurant was all fun, but they didn't realize that sometimes business had to actually be done. She was tired and she had dark circles under her eyes but it was opening time and she still hadn't found a replacement bartender since Hatmon had left and that left her pulling double the jobs and she needed to find another bartender soon. For now, she just rubbed her eyes as she left the office, took her spot behind the bar, and began preparing her stock for later in the day.

User Image"Damn that old man," Rajin growled low as he dropped the grocery bags on the ground when he stopped at the corner of the marketplace. Seriously, did the Hawk King really need ten different types of utensils and plates? This was a tavern he was working in, not a fancy restaurant.

The tiger pulled out a small pouch from his pocket and looked inside. He let out a small frown. He was running low on catnip. It was not that he wanted to get high like all other feline laguz did (since catnip had no effect on tiger), but he needed to calm down. And that damn cook was getting on his nerve sometimes.

"Guess I have to restock them later." Rajin muttered as he stuffed his pouch into his pocket. He then grabbed the grocery bags of fragile plates and utensils in one hand while the big sack of foods with the other. Seeing that the sack was big and had lots of stuff, he would have to lift it over his shoulder (not that it was heavy for him.)

With one swing, he lifted the sack off the ground and over his shoulder. Unfortunately, he also heard a yelp too, followed by a thump noise. Curious of what was that, Rajin looked around the corner.

There, sitting on the floor, was a yellow-haired beorc. The tiger cocked his eyebrow at the beorc, curious. Somehow, he didn't know that it was his fault for making the beorc fell. "Hey, what are you doing on the floor?"

{Amelia}
Amelia smiled, puffing out a long breath to watch the air fog and materialize in front of her face. The wind was slowing, at least, which meant it felt slightly less cold outside.

The blond lifted her eyes up to the sky, watching a fine dusting of snow begin to fall from the sky and towards the ground. She paused on the sidewalk, her hands still in her pockets. She breathed out slowly, closing her eyes.

Christmas the year before had been considerably more hectic. With the blizzard, clock tower beast, and Leander's arrival the year before, this winter was passing considerably more peacefully. It was a relief to not have to fight to have a nice Christmas, at least, and the new year had already arrived... maybe the rest of the year would keep this way. No more attackers. No more widespread panic. Maybe--

Something large, heavy, and covered in cloth crashed right into her face. Amelia yelled in surprise, barely getting her hands out of her pockets soon enough to catch herself before she fell back flat and hit her head. Amelia sat up slowly, rubbing her hand against her hip. "O-Ow... jeez..."

"Hey, what are you doing on the floor?"

Amelia looked up, then snorted out a breath through her nose and pulled herself back to her feet. "Well, you did kind of whack me in the face with that bag," Amelia responded. She ran a hand through her hair, scattered blond hairs immediately flipping upwards with static electricity. "Watch what you're doing next time. That seriously hurt." Amelia rubbed one hand against her cheekbone.

He couldn't remember.

The snow radiated a nostalgia he failed to place, the morning sky a painting he could swear he might have glimpsed a time beforehand. His thoughts sputtered and gasped, trying in utter vain to cling to what bled away from his mind, for he could feel shadows of the past dissipating to nothing and leaving him with only obscure clues of what he'd done in the previous year. He was walking, this much was certain. He walked through the marketplace and the snow beneath his shoes were already ruined by the footfalls of countless others.

Someone was touching him. The mage whipped around, frightening off the hand that had settled on his shoulder. Before him stood a figure so familiar that even he was daunted, and yet he was unable to place any name or memory to the figure. Something told him that the stranger was a woman. She seemed to gaze at him in something like tacit sadness, her eyes hidden underneath a black hood that shadowed her features. The woman's cloak was adorned in a variety of mystical amulets and charms. She must have been a fortune teller or something similar. He realized he was still moving, moving away from her, staggering into the crowd as the distance between them lengthened.

The woman turned, weighed down by the shadow of loss, and disappeared into the bustling marketplace.

I know that woman, he thought, mildly perplexed by a lack of his own concern, I know her. But from where? She is not possessed of a mortal aura. She can't be human.

Still he moved, further and further until he too was swallowed up by common peoples. Without warning the mage was conscious of his own self. He was enrobed in bright fabrics that were as stainless as newly fallen snow, a blemish among the commoners and the browns and greys and yellows. He tried to summon to mind how he had come here. He vaguely remembered arranging for a wagon. He recalled escorting someone to someplace. Perhaps it was that woman, and yet the image faded further and further to oblivion. He might have been frustrated had he not lacked...a certain passion. This, too, confused the young man, and he dug about in his memories for the cause of that as well while he observed the goings-on about him.

He remembered being split in half and remembered losing a sense of individuality.

How strange.

The mage glanced back, and he saw nothing aside from more strangers for whom he bore no concern. He then wondered why he was glancing back at all. Indeed, he had forgotten that just a moment ago there had been a woman's hand on his shoulder. He forgot that there had been any woman at all. Flustered by the utter absence of memory and logic, he turned toward the heart of the marketplace. The mage at least recalled why he was here. He'd planned to return to his former duties, or at least take up similar tasks to fulfill his illusionary excuse of a life. He was also to hunt down his other half. Why this was, he could not recall either.

Soren slowly ambled into the midst of the crowd, forgetting Ashera's face.

Sunil nodded slowly and continued to help himself to some cake, taking a sip of hot chocolate every now and then. He then heard someone enter, but paid no notice to it until he heard a voice speak to him.

"Yo, kitty. Nippy outside, eh?"

He glanced up to see a wolf walk over to seat himself at another table. Ah, the wolves. Seems like they had crossed over too. The blue cat figured it would be nice to at least respond.

"Indeed it is, wolfy. Indeed it is. Very different from the arid desert, isn't it?" he asked before he took another sip of the hot chocolate.

It could use just a smidge more milk and a little less chocolate. But that was just him. He then began to wonder where he would be able to find a new job, one that would actually keep him hired for a long time. It was a pain getting a job only for a few days, then getting let go.

Seeing that he was not the only customer now, Ziaram got up and moved over towards the cat and...wolf? Well he had seen a lot of things that were strange to him, and this was only another one of them. Still a bit shocked at all of the kinds of people around here. Sitting at a table closer to Sunil and...whoever the wolf was, he waited for Blossom to come and take his order. In the meantime he would listen in to whatever Sunil and the wolf were talking about. It isn't like I have something better to do. Besides, I may as well try to learn some more about these people...laguz I think they are called.

User ImageDamn, this one is frisky. Rajin thought when he heard the beorc's response. And he thought feline laguz were frisky when they were in the bad mood. He guessed beorc could be too. If someone loved her with that type of attitude, he felt bad for the person who was with her. However, if that beorc said it was his fault, then he guessed it must be his fault.

"Well, sorry about that. Guess I didn't see you there." Rajin apologized as he shifted the sack over his shoulder. He hoped that the grocery shopping was not a daily chore. Seriously, the tavern was not some fancy restaurant to eat. In addition, the Duke's Head was not a very high profitable place to eat and sleep. "Just that, with so many stuff that old man wants me to buy, it's not easy seeing people around when carrying these stuff."

Rajin then looked around to see if he left any groceries on the floor. There were none. It looked like he had everything with him.

"Well, enjoy your day," Rajin said to the beorc before turning around. He then muttered something low for the beorc to hear before he left. "Hope that damn Hawk King lowers his grocery list when he needs it."

User Image Elly peered over to Tristai once she entered the shop and moved herself from the hairpins to some cute minature top hats that had different types of decoration.

She picked up one that had a red and white ribbon wrapped around the back and tied in a bow. The sniper took off her own hat and held one hand with the small hat up to her own head, checking her reflection in the small mirror that hanged on the column just behind the rack. Cute, but buying it was probably not going to happen. So she put it back on the shelf, and popped her white one back on her head and looked around the shop a little bit more.

"Oh!" she squeeked, trotting over to a shelf that had brooches well crafted from glass. Of course, Elly picked up one that was a pink bear and tilted her head, poking it on its tiny nose and let out a soft giggle. It was cute..too cute actually..just as cute as that teddy bear she had saw earlier. Elhaym stood up straight, waving to the ranger to grab her attention on over.

Amelia's soured expression disappeared as the hooded man responded while he adjusted his grip on his bags. Oh. "If you didn't see me, then it's not a problem, really. I was kind of just... standing there. Just... try to keep a better eye on what's around you next time?" Amelia smiled brightly and rubbed her hip again, wincing slightly. She hadn't hit her head, but the collision did hurt.

"Yeah, the bags really are large..." Amelia murmured. She watched as he turned to leave. "Good luck with all of that," she started, but she stopped as he spoke, quiet, but still audible.

"Hope that damn Hawk King lowers his grocery list when he needs it."

Amelia paused, watching the man walk away for a second. ...Hawk King? What?

She watched for a few seconds more, then hurried towards him, snow kicking up around her. "W-Wait!" she called. She put a hand on the man's elbow, trying not to startle him as she offered a tentative smile. "Why don't I help you carry one of those back? Help you out. I was in your way, right? And it'll be easier to carry if the load's split between two people."

Ah, what a dismally cold day. It was, of course, cold, as it tends to be, during the winter. A bit of wind, and a few inches of snow on the ground, and Rei has a recipe for complaining. Why was he even outside, again? Just because it was the new year didn't mean he had to go out and romp in the snow. He should be inside, curled up by the fireplace, reading a good- Oh yeah. He needed to go shopping for tomes. Rei couldn't reasonably subsist on Erebus and Apocalypse all the time, after all.

Really, they were both... a bit tattered. Using Erebus... a good five or more times, each time a massive assault came upon Eyris. At least ten uses in the Asami fiasco, two or so in the Heroes debacle, and a good five or so during the Harvest Festival. Put that all together with his recent few uses breaking up that fight during the last party, and the thing could easily be dwindling! And Apocalypse got used left and right, whenever possible, and there's no getting another of that. And sure, he had that Fenrir tome, but he could only use that for so long, before it became a risk, too.

So, he dropped by the same Vendor shop that he did during the Harvest Festival to get those staves, and spent a good amount of time perusing the Dark Tomes. Sure, Flux was cheap, but it was... weak. He didn't need Noseferatu, since he could heal himself with the Mend Staff's effects. So, after a bit of searching, he opted for... a more exotic tome, called Verrine. The shopkeep said it was from... a foreign land, or something. Knowing his luck, it came from one of the many worlds that linked to Learania, and it was just replicated. Still, with how much it cost him, it sure as heck better be powerful!

But, as he made his way out of the shop, he spied a familiar face passing by. But it looked like just that, to him, a face, a floating head. As he cautiously walked closer, he saw that the man was actually in garbs of pure white, a massive contrast to his typical black robes. But he looked... confused. Kind of like a lost child in a market. Just the sight of a man said to be an unparalleled tactician with that demeanor, it was chilling. And... after the rather vivid head trip that happened in the conclusion of the attacks during the Harvest Festival... he wanted answers. If anyone would have answers, it would be Soren. Probably.

So, he took a deep breath, shoving away his awkward, nervousness (he thought the guy was dead, after all), and approached Soren. With a calm sigh, he placed a hand on the Sage's shoulder, stopping his slow steps. "So, what are you doing here?"

Tristai

PostPosted: Tue Jan 05, 2010 5:21 pm

Tristai meandered around the shop, looking at various little trinkets and things... A set of jeweled hair sticks caught her attention momentarily, and she slipped her gloves off into her pockets to take a closer look. Her face didn't light up or anything, but they were quite pretty- the clarity of the stones wasn't bad, for being a shop of this size.

She stopped in front of a bedazzled mirror to smooth out her hair, some of it getting fly-away from the weather. She'd left it hanging down instead of tying it up, with a heavy bandanna wrapped around her head to keep warm. A butterfly hairpin kept it in place, and while she was playing around with the long parts of her bangs she caught Elly waving her over through the mirror.

"What's up?" Tristai appeared next to the younger woman, peering over Elly's shoulder to see what she was holding. She let out a small laugh.

"How cute," she finished off the rest of her coffee, holding the mug in her hands.
