Ellorie Grey Just as a fleeting idea, what would you say to us possibly incorporating other (similar) literature into the role-play? It's just a passing thought, nothing to take too seriously, so I won't be offended if the answer is "no;" I just had some vague image of a Jekyl/Hyde inspired detective character from rereading the story yesterday. ;^^ That sounds completely fine with me, as long as it's nothing too out-there, and you can find a way to relate it to the RP somehow. Also, since we're on the trend of not taking characters in their entirety, I would also ask that you alter said literary character to be more of your own, though obviously we would be know whom you based him/her off of.

If Ms. Lambie wishes, we could mesh our two ideas together.

Well, my good madame. I've been thinking of an RP idea that's partially inspired by Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. A group of Victorian-Era figures from fiction joining together to protect the world from the threats of criminal minds and th forces of the unnatural. The intial team would consist of the characters listed below or a character based on them.
Sherlock Holmes John Watson Griffin, The Invisible Man Frankenstein's Creation Prof. Van Helsing Phileas Fogg Sir James Talbot, based off of "Larry Talbot" from the Wolfman The Victorian-Era version of the Scarlet Pimpernel filling the role of 007's "M" (He'd be an NPC).

It was just a thought- if I do end up using it, I promise to keep it mild. Just thought it make things more interesting, is all. ^-^

Been a while since I posted... Woops.
Yuuki, feel free to play a Grand Vizier to my Creosete. A Cranberry to my Cosmo. A lieutenant, if you will. Someone who acts with initiative and intelligence in the field. My chief assassin, perhaps?
Or you could be a chaotic neutral form. A Shadowbroker of sorts. Neither siding with the forces of good or bad, but offering your services to whoever does you a favour. This could be an opportunity to show a darker side to the good guys, as they do evil deeds for the greater good.
And regarding including other characters, I'm quite happy to see some other Victorian-literature charatcer make an appearence.

[ Okay guys, just a little side note... Poseidon's Legacy is offering some REALLY wicked steampunkish items. I'm stoked. So stoked I might blow all my gold on a couple of items. ಠnಠ ]
ANYWAY! I like that idea; The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a great movie. My main concern is keeping it Sherlock Holmes-ish, so here are my 3 points: Things unnatural would probably only go as far as to include steampunk and perhaps the robots idea we've been toying around with.
Our little team would most likely be not something definitely united, but a collection of useful people working together for their own needs/wants. Not to say they are selfish, but that they're working together to achieve the common goal, not just because they're all superbuddies and whatnot. Some might know eachother and/or be friends, and some may be acquaintances who needs eachother's skills. (I know that is explained strangely >.< )
The plot isn't going to be something huge/wordly, but just contained to Britain (perhaps with the threat of extending worldwide?)
I'm open, as I've said, to letting people base their characters on literary/historical figures, just as we have Holmes- and Watson-based characters. I think that would be very interesting.

So, now that we have the guidelines worked out, are we ready to start the plot construction? We have some general ideas for the antagonists and their goals, as well as for the configuration and relationships of the protagonists. Now, we just have to put it all together. ^-^

Shall we take this to a hidden thread, so as not to spoil it for any interested parties? Or just begin now?

I'd like to vote for a private thread, if it's not too much of an inconvenience.

Done. Sending PMs to Princess Lambie and Ellorie Grey now. If anyone else wants a link because they have an idea or two, please ask for one.

I need the link again, if I'm still worthy. I don't deserve your kindness.

Does this idea still live? I've just finished watching the complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (With the wonderful Jeremy Brett!) and as such I am 'well stoked' on the idea of some Holmesian deduction. biggrin
