Did you know that homosexuality is only mentioned 7 times in The Bible?

There are parts of The Bible that forbid Homosexuality but not all of the times that mention it are negitive, and The Bible was often changed in rewritings. For exmple at one time all the times that p***s was mentioned it was changed to foot or feet.

Jesus says nothing about homosexuality. It is not mentioned in the Gospels once. Wouldn't He say something if He hated it so much?

What do you think?
the bible is man made...thats all that has to be said...really..if the sam people who wrote the bible tried that today...half of us...most of us would think him crazy...i think "god" was created to control the way we live our lives....and it worked

I agree in that the bible is man made...but just because the bible is doesn't mean God is. I do believe that there is a "God" out there. I am gay and I somewhat hate the bible and religion because it is very closed minded (Or at least from what I have seen). I think that the only reason why there is such thing as religion is that it give people something to believe in, there for, I don't really see why people tend to fight over (and yes, people do fight) such a thing such as religion, same goes with the bible. The bible is just a big book with lots of words that has changed soooooo much over the years that no one even knows what the first bible said, and I doubt that any one ever will...and I doubt it really matters. I think another reason why people say they found more verses etc. from the bible is so that they can change the bible once more to add what they would like an not be looked down upon from those who follow the bible (there is that little part in the back about not being able to change the bible...so they say they found more to it rolleyes ) Once again, this is just what I think and believe.

LoL. I didn't know that feet actually meant p***s in the bible! xD Ah the things we learn each day..

As sorafiren stated, the bible was/is made by man but that doesnt mean that there isn't a God somewhere over the rainbow. I strictly believe in God even though I think this religion is slightly flawed. I also believe that if God is truly our father and we are all His children and that He would forgive any sin than He'd be all right if you're gay. It's better than say, murder.

Random Fact: There is a gay couple-ing in the bible! Who knows the story of David and Jonathan? xD (David as in David and Goliath David xD)

The bible is a book.
It's that simple.
In fact, homosexuality is older than the bible.
So I think we win out.

I'll just state my beliefs in a straight up manner and get out of your hair. I don't beleive in the bible anymore. I beleive in a god, but I don't know how much I actually beleive. The bible is an outdated, sexually biased book. So many things are wrong in that tome. Example, after a woman gives birth to a boy, she is considered "dirty" and is unallowed to enter a holy place for like a month or so. If she gives birth to a girl, she is deemed very unclean and is not allowed to enter a holy place for even more. If she's on her period she's dirty, and it says that long hair is a symbol of hiding their heads, so that it shows meekness. The book is full of crap on so many levels that I don't want to get into it any more than I already have. So, yeah. That's all.

I don't think the bible is "how things happened" for the following reasons:

1) The bible is a translation of a translation. It started out in Hewbrew, then to Greek, then to English. And even then, it was translated into English for the first time several hundred years ago! So not only do we have flaws in the fact that these languages don't translate perfectly, but also the fact that the English language has changed a lot in the span of time it was translated.

2) The bible was written 200 years after Jesus's death. Little known fact to most bible thumpers, but basically war followed Jesus's death to decide what would go in the bible. 200 years! Not only would the original apostles would be dead, but each one probably had a different experience of what happened. Don't believe me? The Tomas Scrolls just recently discovered prove that the whole story of the bible was not included. PLUS the fact that not all of the apostles got their fair shair in it.

3) If the bible was the truth, the God is a monster. Think about it. He flooded the WORLD. Not only killing the sinners, but innocents as well. And I just can't believe in the concept of hevan or hell that they've portrayed. I don't care who you are, you can even be Hitler, but NO ONE deserves eternal punishment, or eternal reward for that matter. Throughout the bible he is always changing his mind. AND the bible also endorses polygamy.

That's just my two (or three cents).

I didn't mean to bash, but I'm just sick of the way some (not all) Christians seem (to me) use the Bible as an excuse to condemm people. What were they saying in the 80's? "Rock 'n Roll is the Devil's music!" And even further back, it seems from my POV that these people just use the Bible as an excuse to hate people.

And my main ire comes in when they say that someone deserves to die. I will let you believe whatever you want, but that just goes too far. Example: There were some "Christians" I know who said that Louisiana deserved Katrina because they were holding a homosexual convention. That is just sick. Or when Matthew Shepard got taken out to the middle of nowhere, beaten up and left there to die because he was gay.

This makes me furious because of my main belief that no one has the right to decide who has the right to live and who has the right to die. And back to the subject, these "Christians" say that gays deserve AIDs are hypocrites in my head. What was that bout "THOU SHALT NO KILL"?

So to wrap it up I don't have anything against Christians. What I don't like are the self-righteous "Christians" who go blabbing about how the LGBTQ community deserves AIDS and will suffer in hell. So I am sorry if I offended any Christians here.

I understand the way you feel, as I offten feel the same way. I used to go to church, I used to hide myself from the fact that I am interested in girls just 'cause of what was being taught in the church I attended. I relalized, however, ofter two or so years of not being able to go to church because we didn't have a vehical to go, that everything they had taught me was everything they shouldn't have been teaching me. They say that Homosexuality is wrong, and so it may be said that way in the old testement, but it says nothing of that sort in the new one where Jesus's life takes place. They also judge people based on the way they look more so than anyone I have ever met. Judging people is against the Bible because it says that it is not our job as people to do... as God's childern we should not judge others, but leave it up to God on the Judgement Day of death.
Not only that, but when I went back to church one day after those two or so years of not going, I found myself wanting to leave, it was that offencive, and it wan't even about anything that had to with me. The Pastor was praying for the Musluims(I am greatly sorry if I spelled it wrong) that they might find the true path to follow and for God to lead their way. HOW SELFISH IS THAT! uuuuurgh it pissed me off so bad that he could say one "religion" was better than another. So that said. I may believe in the Bible, but I don't agree with most things the church's teach.

the only problem with this topic, is that people are just way to sensitive.
You say one thing that they don't agree with and they all explode.

Were not even on topic anymore because were to busy arguing!
Unfortunately no one can make any topic similar to this because people get offended so easily!

Amen. XD Especially to number three. If the Bible *was* completely true, then God must be a hell of an a*****e -- which kind of makes one doubt His forgiveness, doesn't it? confused

Euh... I basically agree with most people have said here. ^^; Screw all the fundamentalists who are screaming bloody murder. Even though they've proved themselves to be a dangerous lot -- Matthew Shepard, anyone? -- and they need to practice what they preach (love, forgiveness, "thou shalt not kill," etc.)...

If it was So Evil and So Wrong, homosexuality/bisexuality/etc. wouldn't exist. *shrug* That's my opinion, anyway. I also personally believe that God doesn't directly interfere unless drastic measures need to be taken, but... hey. It's a belief, and that's it. If people are going to believe it's wrong or right, it's their right to believe what they wish. However, when someone tries to impose their beliefs or try to force someone to believe in what they believe... that's when those people need to be taken aside and talked to. (Whether they'll listen or not is an entirely other problem...)

I need to stop babbling, 'cause I've lost my train of thought and have no idea what my point is now. *gonk* sweatdrop
