Meanwhile Kai was watching the antics of Akati bemusedly. The mission wasn't that scary sounding... was it? Kai had never served as a genin or chuunin so he had never done any of these low ranking missions before. It honestly sounded like fun, but then again he was a jounin. This mission was honestly child's play to him and in fact sounded more like a sightseeing experience. Not that Kai was particularly interested in scoping out rich brats... well, a job was a job.

"The rank?" Kai tapped his chin for a moment and referred to the scroll. Actually he had known already that the mission was a C-Rank, but wondered if it was prudent to tell them. Well, why the hell not. "It's a C-Rank," he continued cheerily.

"It's that rank because you are not expected to take out the operation," he explained. "Well it would be nice if you did of course. But honestly you are just meant to survey the situation for a week tops and report back. You'll need realistic cover stories. And absolutely no showing off your ninja abilities. No jutsu. No visible chakra. No clan abilities. Yes... I will be holding a henge, but that's only because of these," Kai tapped his cheek markings. "I don't think you two need to.

"If that's all you want to know, hmm.."
Kai checked his watch. "We meet at the bridge at noon?"

[exit to the entrance bridge. and then we'll exit kumo the normal way {the caves thread}. then we can enter the kumogami mission thread that i'll be creating.]

Watching as his students left with squared backs, at least trying to be mentally ready for the mission, Kai's hand found Mawagi's haunches and stroked softly. "Not a bad team, huh, Mawagi?" he said softly. "Guess I better find out what they can do." He got up, beckoning Mawagi to do the same, before they both left for Kai's temporary abode to get ready as well.

Zentos threw his arms over his head and stretched his sore muscles. It had already been months since he had left Iwagakure to explore the world. Finding himself in Kumogakure, he settled in and was provided an extremely warm welcome when it was known that he was a shinobi. He had already advanced to the rank of genin, and he was determined to keep going up this ladder of success. Bringing his hands back down to his sides, he started swinging them side to side across his chest to loosen his muscles some more.

*Well, I might as well begin some exercising. I should really get into better shape if I want to succeed on missions.*

Zentos went towards a flat area of dirt where he wouldn't be disturbed by any who weren't seeking him. Feeling a little more susceptible to injuries lately, he resolved to become stronger and get tougher. He started by going down for some push-ups, a plan forming in his mind, depicting what he would be doing for the next few hours.

*First push-ups, but after maybe.. 50? I'll move on to crunches, then squats, then I'll alternate. I have to get my constitution up.*

The first feelings of a muscular burn were seeping into his arms. He ignored it and started breathing heavily. His muscles were aching after just 20, so he decided to take a break. Feeling weaker and weaker, he took a one minute breather and then went b
ack to work.

Zentos knew that it was going to be a long time before he toughened up, because as he went down for his second set of pushups, he barely made it to twenty again before needing a break. Feeling a slight bit flustered, he decided to move onto crunches. Perhaps his abdominal muscles would prove inherently stronger than his biceps. To no avail, he got through a few dozen crunches before he felt the need for oxygen, anything to stop the burning pain he felt. He stood up and decided to stretch some more. Trying to think of more exercises that would help him toughen up, he sat down in the splits to achieve better flexibility. The only things that came to his mind were the most simple exercises. If only he had a partner to spar with, that would give him real experience with fighting and make him stronger.

As Zentos was getting back up from his last break, he thought of a new way to train himself. He closed his eyes to concentrate for a few moments to find his focus. Upon opening his eyes, he let loose a current of electricity throughout his body, energizing him beyond what he had just felt normally. He got into position and pumped out fifty push ups easily. After the last one, feeling accomplished, he got up to do a simple breathing exercise. He still felt the burn in his muscles, but it wasn't as fierce as before, and he felt like he could go for a hundred more sets. Knowing that he was just getting overconfident, he mentally prepared himself for the next challenge he would put himself through.

As he was doing his next set of crunches, Zentos' mind began to wander. He started to think about how much his life had changed recently. He was still just a kid in the grand scheme of things, but he was on his way to greatness, he could just feel it. He knew that he would have to work hard and persevere to get what he wanted, and that was to become a famously talented ninja. He knew that it would take years, but he was determined to get there. Feeling his abs tightening up, he decided to take a breather. He lay down on the ground where he was and looked up at the ceiling, memories of the past and hopes for the future flooding his imagination.

As he got up from his lazy position looking up at the stalactites, Zentos felt a feeling of loneliness. It suddenly hit him that he was one of the last Zee's out in the world. Unless there were more distant cousins that had escaped the attack on the village of Current, then he might be one of two people that still had the ability to use chakra taijutsu. This feeling made him feel small in the world, and he knew that somehow, he would have to teach someone how to do it, if only to keep the tradition and fighting style alive. Shaking off this feeling of isolation, he decided to start a set of squats. His legs pushed him off the ground at a solid pace, and before he knew it, he had done fifty. His legs burned, but he ignored the pain and kept going. It was through this repetition of training that would make him stronger.

After his first set of squats, he decided to stop working his lower body until his thighs felt strong enough to continue such rigorous training. His upper body was almost relaxed now, so he looked for something else to do, it didn't exactly help much that he was in a cave where there wasn't anything to climb or hit besides solid rock. Scanning the area, he saw the perfect rock formation that would allow him to strengthen his arms. He walked over to the arc-like formation and jumped up to grab it. He started doing pull-ups, and he knew that he had made the right choice. His arms were in motion and he felt the lactic acid build up, but he rejoiced in the burn and kept going.

Feeling slightly more accomplished, Zentos' training was finally starting off quite nicely. The allotted time that he had given himself to train was almost halfway done, a few hours spent working out in the caves had seemingly done him some good. Knowing that the easy part of the training was over, Zentos mentally steeled himself to keep exercising even when his muscles were about to give out. This was to be an exercise of will as much as of strength. He needed to have the mentality to be able to keep going even after he was too tired to go on. On a mission, this would end up saving his life. Knowing that, he kept doing pull ups as fast and with as best form as he could.

Zentos could feel his body straining, but he wouldn't let go of the rocks. Now, it was an effort just to do one pull up. He had done almost a hundred now, and his arms were exhausted. He just kept telling himself that he had to keep going, no matter what. If he were trying to pull himself up a mountain on a mission with an enemy ninja behind him, he would have to muster up all his strength to try and escape. He just had to find some kind of energy within him. The thought occurred to him that he could try boosting his energy with lightning chakra, but he decided against it. If he kept doing that, it would almost be like he was cheating his way through the training. He would have to find a way to do it on his own. That way, in an actual fight when he would bolster himself with lightning, he would be unstoppable. Pulling up for the last time, Zentos took thirty seconds to relax and catch his breath, before contemplating his next exercise. He wanted to get away from the simple exercises like pushups, so he walked over to where he had started and stretched his legs. He decided to go for a run. For how long, he wasn't sure; to where, of that he was also unsure. Would he just do laps inside the cave, or would he leave this dank cavern and do a long distance run out and around the mountain. He knew that it would get dark soon and that if he did too much he would tire and possibly get lost around the almost unfamiliar terrain. He had been there for a while, yet he had made no friends to go exploring with him. He resolved to meet someone his age to train with later, but for now, he had to work out on his own.

To start his run, Zentos decided to just go easy and circle the perimeter of the cave. Surprisingly large, Zentos was already out of breath when he finished his second lap. He knew that he would have to keep going, but he wasn't looking forward to it. Although he didn't particularly like running while he was doing it, he loved the feeling afterwards. Accomplished, Zentos would feel powerful and stronger after running, which almost didn't make sense considering how tired, out of breath, and sweaty someone would be after a distance run. No matter what he felt like, it was always a good feeling. Running helped his lungs expand and get stronger, it would help him swim for further distances and hold his breath longer. His legs would get stronger and he could kick harder, and his morale would improve simply by finishing a grueling run. Yes, Zentos' favorite activity was running, but sometimes he felt it to be a chore. Training was something he did everyday, but it wasn't like him to be so quiet during any exercises. In Iwagakure, he would play with the fellow academy students, but here, he felt secluded and without anyone. He hadn't met anybody that interesting for all the weeks he had been here, and he was constantly in the cave, alone. Brushing aside his feelings, he knew that loneliness wasn't going to get him through this run or a mission. For now, he could only rely on himself. Through sheer determination, Zentos would train on his own and not let it bother him. There was always time for friends later.

Hopefully this run didn't feel as long as it would be. Zentos just kept thinking,
*Right, left, right, left. Just keep going, you're not tired, you won't stop. I have to keep going to get stronger, and I'm determined to get stronger.*
Zentos was on his tenth lap and he was breathing extremely heavily. whatever he told himself to keep going was seemingly working, because if a passerby had seen him, they would just be able to tell that he wouldn't be stopping anytime soon. It was almost an hour after he had started running before he stopped, and by estimating the length of the perimeter of the cave, Zentos calculated how much he had run, and was about to do more laps when he opted instead to take a small break to start on muscle building. He went back down into push-up position and started the count. Better than when he had begun, he got to fifty before he knew it, and he just kept going. Next were his legs, and he did a set of squats so fast that it took him minutes in the single digits. He hurriedly went down to do sit-ups, not wanting to break this streak of determination. It would seem as if he had been energized, but it was all through motivating himself, and not through means such as allowing electricity to power his body. After his burst of energy was over, he took a seat on the ground, thoroughly exhausted, and took deep breaths to get his lungs back in shape. He knew that he was almost done with the training, he felt his body become more and more tired, and he knew that he was reaching the end of the day. What kept him going was the thought of leaving the cave stronger than he had been when he had entered. Zentos frequently let out such thoughts when he was trying to get himself to do something, constantly trying to convince himself not to quit and not to give up. He was always attempting to be the perfect student, always training and never giving up, always working hard to achieve what he wanted. Zentos decided to keep going for another hour, and by that time, he hoped to leave the cavern sore, but not defeated. He got up and continued his run, the run that would make him feel stronger, but also tire him to the end of collapse. Not even counting the laps anymore, Zentos just kept running.
