Dan moved in after Lisa scooted over and breathed a sigh of relief that the cab was even nicer inside then outside. "Yes of course. Sorry but I think once I get to my room I will be a little less spacey." Dan said with a chuckle.
The taxi was on its way to the hotel with the two of them as passengers. Dan flexed his hand unconsciously thinking about the warmth of Lisa's hand. He casually put it down next to her hand as his cheeks turned slightly red. He was not prone to blushing himself but he wondered if Lisa was thinking about how warm his hand was.

"But I like you as an astronaut." She laughed softly. "But I look forward to seeing you when you are not "spacey" too." She laughed, but not so much at him, but at the thoughts that filled her mind.
The man in the Taxi pulled out into the crowd of cars, and the two inside seemed to fall into silence. Feeling awkward Lisa lifted both her hands into her lap and looked out the window. She loved to watch the trees pass, and admire their beautiful green color. As she looked out the window her mind was pretty blank. She tried to think of something to say. She felt Dan's fingers brush against her thigh and jumped with surprise. It lay open at her side, as if for an invitation. She looked up at him, noticing a small line of pink that ran across the bridge of his cheeks. She smiled. Letting one hand fall to her side, conveniently into his hand. She jumped again in surprise. "Sorry." She said softly, and moved it a little closer to herself, but waited for his move.
Lisa was vaguely aware of the driver, who's eyes seemed to dart all over the road, and back at them. A couple times she swore that he was looking directly at her, maybe Dan.
"You two make a very nice couple." He commented, with another look from one to the other via his rear view window. "How long have you known each other? What brings you to Tukwila?"
He seemed kind enough by his tone, but Lisa was very happy that she was not alone in the vehicle. She scooted a little closer to Dan, hoping neither would notice.

"N-no its okay." Dan said as she apologized. He didn't mean to startle her. Then the can driver commented on the two of them which made him happy and yet worried. He thought she would squirm away after only meeting him for real for the first time but instead she moved a little closer.
Dan's mind was spinning suddenly as he wondered if maybe she didn't mind them looking like a couple. They did flirt a bit online and they even did stories together where they were a couple but could it be possible that she liked him like he liked her?
"We have been friends for a while now. We are going to a convention in town." Dan said as his blush only increased. It was not a lie but it was a very general explanation of what was going on. If nothing else it broke the silence.

"Yes, to Baka-con." Lisa said softly and began to fidget with something on her backpack. She sighed, trying not to express how warm she suddenly felt. She had only just "met" Dan, and for someone to say that they were a couple sort of freaked her out. Especially the driver, who also made her nervous.
"It should be really fun." She said with a slight raise in her voice.
"You know, in the Japanese language Baka means "idiot" don't you?" The taxi driver asked looking back at the two of them once more. He laughed softly to himself. "Can you tell me more about it? It sounds like a pretty big thing." He looked back to the black road and continued to drive, swerving between cars to get them to the hotel as quickly as he could so he could get his next client.
Lisa nibbled nervously on her lip and gripped the door as the car moved. She was feeling very nervous now and she wouldn't wait to get to the hotel and retreat to her room.

Dan noticed Lisa getting a little nervous suddenly. Maybe he thought wrong and she was just moving closer to him because he was the nearest thing that she remotely trusted. He felt a little down but reassured himself that they only knew each other for a short time. If it was really meant to be then maybe something will work out in the end.
Dan gently raised his hand and put it on Lisa's shoulder. "Sorry mister but I am pretty new to this stuff and my friend here is really tired with the jet lag and everything. They do have a website you can look up later if you are interested though." Dan said knowing that by now tickets might be hard to get a hold of. He was no shining knight but at the very least he could help Lisa through this ordeal.

Nodding in agreement with Dan Lisa didn't look forward again. She was starting to feel slightly sick, something that was quite strange and unusual for her. Lisa hated being locked within a car speeding though traffic. These people always scared her. She reached into her bag and grabbed a stick of gum. She unwrapped it and stuck it in her mouth. She began to chew it with a strange fascination. "Would you like some?" She asked, postponing her chewing long enough to ask Dan.
Lisa calmed a little and lay back against the fluffy seats, feeling much better with Dan's hand on her shoulder. She reached up and placed her hand gently over his. They were beginning to pass by buildings of the town now. Surly they must be there soon. She could hear the driver muttering to himself, repeating the address. They had to be close.

"Thank you I would love some." Dan said as his free hand reached out for the extended gum. His thumb expertly slid the foil from the gum piece and he pulled it to his mouth with no effort. It was a lot easier then the big pieces of gum that were wrapped like little Christmas presents full of sugar.
Soon the cab driver pulled up to a nice looking hotel and Dan looked out the window at the automatic double door. The driver mentioned the fair and before Lisa could even pull out her wallet Dan already had some money pulled out of his pocket and paying the man. He got out of his seat and Dan followed out his door keeping an eye on the man as they made their way to the trunk.

Lisa smiled, though it was half-hearted. She was more concerned with watching out the window as the cars around her seemed to speed past. The city life was far too fast pace for her. She felt claustrophobic when there were cars all around her. This is completely insane, she thought.
The car pulled to the curb, and Lisa found herself more than eager to get out of the vehicle. She reached for her purse, laying at the top of her backpack. Dan had already taken care of it though. She would compensate him once they were a little more settled in.
Lisa slid out after Dan and walked around to the curb where she waited for the driver to unload their bags. Once they were laying on the cold cement before them she thanked the man, who gave her his card, and got back into the taxi. Lisa pocketed the card and grabbing her bag she sighed. Gesturing to the door she hinted, "Would you like to go inside now?" She asked with a hint of suggestion.

"If nothing else I think I would like to drop my things off and check out my home for a few days." Dan said as he inhaled the air and coughed as the taxi driver took off with exhaust billowing smoke. Maybe the taxis were not as nice as he thought they would be. "Well then shall we check in and get in a little rest? What do you think Lisa?"

Lisa nodded, "Yes, I would like to see the rooms before we go to and register for the convention. This is how we did it last time I was here." She smiled, seeming much looser now that she was out in the open, and not crowded into the car with one true stranger, and Dan. "Well this way I guess." She said grabbing her bag and stepping though the doors.
Inside there was a man standing at the service table. Pulling out her notebook and her purse she gave the man her reservation number and handed over to him. After that she gave him a small silver card, which he swiped into his computer. The process did not take long. The man handed her the key card and she thanked him. Taking a complimentary apple out of the basket she nodded and thanked him, and step back so Dan could get his room. Meanwhile she looked at the card key to find out where it was in the building she would be staying. 311. Simple enough, third floor, room 311. She smiled and waited for Dan to get his key.

Nathaniel hopped off the bus and took of, skating through groups and occasionally grinding on rails as they came. He came to his hotel, skating in to the counter. "Ah, good day sir" the manager said. "Richard! Good to see you" Nathaniel replied, hugging him. "No guardian today?" "No one would dress up and father said I would get the most without one, though I have to report to him on the whole thing" Nathaniel let go of Richard. "My usual room?" he asked. "Of course, room 332. Your internet connection is ready as well." Nathaniel waved and skated towards the elevator.

Dan was grateful once more that Lisa guided his actions even if she was not aware of it. This was the first time he would stay in a hotel room by himself save for the little bit of time going into the army and then he never had to deal with the reservations or anything like that.
Dan took in another deep breath and he was going to move in claim his room when an overly energetic person rushed in got all friendly with the man and dashed off breaking the moment of solidarity. Dan felt foolish that he let enough time that some other guy could run in and check in before him.
Before anyone else could come forward Dan stepped forward and told the man his name and the information was typed into the computer before him. He reached down and pulled out a pair of cards. Dan supposed it was in case he accidentally left one in the room when he left. The number on the cards was 312. He paid for the room in advance and turned to Lisa with a warm smile. Her presence was a constant reassuring grace he could rely on.

Lisa was reading something when the loud grind of wheels rushed into the lobby. She looked up irritated as a boy rode in on his skate board, cutting Dan off. Once he was done he turned and sped towards the elevator, and towards her. Lisa jumped out of his way, secretly hoping he would hit the other side of the elevator. She was not one to have a flaming temper though, so she remained silent and waited for Dan to finish up.
Once Dan was done Lisa looked up at him, smiling kindly. "Did everything come out easily?" She asked kindly. "What is your room number?" She stepped closer to the elevator and pushed the button that would take them upstairs. "Would you like to grab an apple?" She asked as she waited for the elevator. "They're free!" Lisa laughed and took a bite of the crisp apple. "They're quite good!" She was a little hungry, and apples were good to eat.

"S-sure. Thanks for letting me know." Dan said as he grabbed one of the apples. He took a bite of the apple and showed his card to Lisa. He wondered if the the apple really was this good or if it was because Lisa thought it was good too that made it taste even more delicious.

Lisa smiled and laughed. "How interesting. You're right across the hall from me." Behind her the elevator door opened and she looked back over her shoulder. Turning she stepped inside, her skirt blowing out slightly as a draft seemed to blow from below in the elevator shaft. She smiled to herself, stifling a giggle, and she stepped inside. Turning to face him she reached out to press the button to keep the door open. "Are you coming Dan? This door will only stay open for so long." She closed her eyes and laughed.
