"You think I am funny?" He blushed slightly and smiled, staring down at the grass for a moment before starting to ramble to himself quietly about how he didn't think he was all that funny and perhaps he should exercise more, but he was always so busy with baking that he didn't have much time.

After a few minutes of speaking, he looked up when he hadn't heard her answering and blinked, looking around for a moment before realizing what she had said and that she was already gone. "That is cheating!"

He took a deep breath and began running after her and though he was fast, he wasn't quite fast enough to catch up to her, she was already at the bottom of the hill when he came barreling past her, skidding to a stop.

Running down the hill, it was absolutely thrilling! A rush like that, with the wind in her mane and her legs moving so fast they probably looked like a white-pink blur..... Once she got to the bottom and fought the momentum to stop, she was giggling all over again.

"It's not cheating!" was her reply to Gin once he finally met her at the bottom. She was giddy and excited and flushed from her short sprint, but it felt wonderful all the same. And she had beaten him, too, which was certainly a plus!

"You can win next time," she replied further, trotting forward across the grass to stand next to Gin's flank. But that was a little presumptuous of her, assuming there would be a next time... So she quickly spoke up again, nodding her head towards him. "Not so out of breath this time?"

"Well.. That was downhill!" He nodded once, turning to face her, kicking his front hooves against the grass absently. "If it was uphill, I'd probably still be standing at the bottom, looking up at you this."

He went wide eyed and started to tremble, looking up to stare at the hill with great fear before smiling wide and nodding quickly.

"No uphill and I will win next time, without cheating!" He leaned over to nudge his shoulder against her before starting to trot forward towards her pasture, his tail swishing back and forth excitedly as he walked.

Isabel's laughter hadn't seemed to have stopped since they were away from the bake sale. Gin's rather... goofy personality not only amused her but almost helped her to forget to clam up and shut down and not open her mouth to utter a single word. It was a comfortable feeling, once she certainly was not used to, and she giggled quietly at the expression on Gin's face.

"You do need more exercise," she said over her chuckling. "An uphill run wouldn't scare you if--..."

But the bump from his flank to her own startled her a bit, then caused a bright pink flush to settle in more deeply in color over either side of her muzzle. She wasted no time, however, in trotting to catch up with him and she very gently returned the nudge with the side of her head.

"You'll have to go back up that way when you go home, you know."

Gin stopped in his tracks and looked at her, his eyes wide as he realized that she was right. "I didn't even think of that!" He cocked his head back to peer over his shoulder slightly, eying the hill before mumbling.

"That's the only way out of here?" He turned back to look at her again. "Looks like I will just have to stay here forever then." He laughed quietly, swaying back and forth before starting to run circles around her again, speeding off to weave through the trees.

"Or maybe I am the fittest pony ever and I have just been pretending to be out of shape!!" He kicked his back hooves into the air playfully as he galloped through the field, the wind cause the mint leave attached to his tail to flap back and forth.

It would have been wise to explain to Gin that he could cut through the trees to the left of the hill and go all the way around it, but... that was the easy way out!

Instead, she kept quiet about that, and tilted her head in an attempt to watch him as he ran around and around her.

"That's how it works," she said lightly, though her tone of voice was playful. "You can come in but you can never go out."

But then he was gone in another second, off running over the grass and past where she could easily catch up with him. Her trot slowed to a stop and she watched, briefly, before a determined look etched it's way across her brow.

With a little kick of her own, she pushed off and went chasing after him. Head lowered, pink flowers and bow rustling as she ran, whinnying in her effort to gallop faster than she thought she was able to.

"It looks that way!" After all, an out of shape pony wouldn't be able to out-run her so easily!

Laughing loudly, he threw his head back to get his mane out of his face before kicking his legs harder to make himself go even faster, running straight across the field before doubling back to run along side her.

"You know what I think? I think you don't want me to leave." Nodding his head quickly, he smiled confidently before starting to speak again. "I think, even though you were nervous and kind of scared of me at the bake sale, you are slowly warming up to me now!"

His pace started to slow and he began to get a little out of breath before finally coming to a stop by a nearby tree.

"Plus.. I think our meeting was fate."

When Gin made his way back to her, Isabel's obvious determination fizzled slightly. She peered at him sideways and slowed her pace down as he spoke.

And what he said.... well... Her face was flushed already, but the color that inched it's way across her cheeks was bright and red and completely visible this time. She ducked her head away, trying to hide it, but followed him just the same to reply.

"That m-might be true," she mumbled, very honestly. Though it wasn't just a might anymore. As Gin settled and stopped by the tree, she came up alongside him, tapping at the ground shyly with one of her front hooves.

"Is that so bad?" She certainly hoped it wasn't. "Maybe it was fate..." It had to be, really. A cake that looked just like her as much as Gin's had? Something that big couldn't be mere coincidence alone..

"I think it is." He nodded once and smiled, tilting his head to the side, watching her absently. "No, it's not a bad thing! I for one am extremely pleased with our meeting."

Looking around for a moment, he smiled wide before walking over to lowered his head, plucking a daisy from the field before walking back over to lean in and offer it to her, mumbling around the stem quietly.

"It's not as pretty as your flowers.."

The daisy Gin offered had Isabel smiling brightly. She peered at it, then back up to him, and to the flower again before dipping her head. With her head tilted enough to one side, she slipped in under his muzzle to let the stem settle behind her ear. Then she leaned back and stood, with the daisy's petals perched on the side of her head.

"It's just as pretty," she corrected warmly. Her blush was still evident, but not because of embarrassment. The gesture was sweet, very sweet, and she was flushed now because of it alone.

"I'm... extremely pleased too. You're funny and you're also very sweet, Gin."

Gin smiled, tucking the flower behind her ear before taking a few steps back to look her over. "It's pretty, but definitely not as pretty as you." He shook his head, looking up absently before making a face.

He hadn't realized how much time had passed and the sky was starting to darken as the sun set.

"I'd better get you back home now before it gets to dark!" He nudged her gently, offering another smile before starting to walk in the direction of her pasture. "I can tell you this, I am not looking forward to walking up that hill!"

He laughed quietly, staring at the hill with wide eyes, taking in a deep breath through his nose.

With Gin's gaze shifted upwards, Isabel tipped her head to peer at the sky as well. To his scrunched up muzzle, hers twisted into a bit of a frown.

He would have to go back to his own pasture, wouldn't he? Small hill and joking aside, she couldn't fathom a reason to ask Gin to stay with her longer. But she was reluctant to let him leave regardless. He was the first pony she'd really made a connection with, the first pony she'd ever wanted to connect with (after a fashion...), and it seemed a shame to let him go so soon.

What if she never saw him again? What if he didn't want to speak to her again? Isabel could already feel herself getting attached and the idea that her nice afternoon with a sweet pony would be the only afternoon spent with him... well... she frowned a bit more once he nudged her.

She walked with him silently for a moment, leading him over towards the familiar pasture she called her own. Then she spoke lightly, keeping her gaze up on the gradually darkening sky.

"You can go around the bottom of the hill," she replied, a bit sad. "That way you don't h-have to go up over it."

Watching her form the corner of his eye absently, he leaned his head to the side. "I didn't even think of doing that."

Kicking at the grass absently with his front hoof once they reached her pasture, he stood there silently for a moment before lifting his head, blurting out. "Would it be alright if I came back tomorrow?!"

He went wide eyed for a moment, blushing, thankful again for the color of his pelt which hid the blush perfectly. Composing himself after a moment, he spoke again a little quieter.

"If you don't mind that is.. I mean.. I'd really like to see you again." He nodded, smiling wide.

Isabel paused at the short gate enclosing her pasture and fretted inwardly over what to do. Or more importantly, what to say!

If only she had more experience with other ponies, perhaps she would know how to go about making.. and then keeping a friend. But as it was, she was clueless, and as the moments ticked by her frowning only deepened further.

She nodded lightly to Gin's statement about walking around the bottom of the hill. Then she sighed quietly before taking one step, with one hoof, towards the opening in the gate.

But her ears perked when she heard him speak up again and her head turned to peek back towards him. His question caught her off-guard, but in a very good way!

"Of course you can come back tomorrow!" she exclaimed, with a little bounce of her hooves on the grass. "I don't mind at all. I'd like that. Will you really?"

"I'd like to, very much. That is if you don't mind.." He cocked his head to the side slightly, watching her facial expression.

He smiled when she perked up and he took a few steps forward to duck his head down and push the gate open for her, making a face when it didn't budge. He straightened himself out, peering closely at the gate before noticing the lock.

He shook his head quickly before leaning back down to pull the lock back with his teeth carefully before nudging at the gate again, opening it this time. "I will even bake you something! What is your favorite thing to eat?"
