The Raccoon chuckled. “Don’t worry. I won’t warp their impressionable little minds too much.” He moved with a lazy sort of grace, enjoying the silence that followed his odd question. Now and then his ears would flick backwards, following the progress of the female that still seemed into intent upon following them. Her path through the trees seemed rather louder than necessary for her weight. Either her wound was hampering her badly or she’d picked up her little son along the way.

Hunter came to a halt and stared down into the cliff. “We could always try jumping across.” He replied dryly and then began leading the way alongside the hole in the earth. “There has to be some sort of bridge along here. Careful not to fall in, Noe.” He looked back at her with a wide grin. “There’s something in the distance. Let’s just hope it’s useable.”

The rabbit thumped his head with its foot; growing even more displeased that Onatah’s instructions were being so blatantly disregarded.

Noe glared at his snide remark of falling in the earth it was hardly likely for her to do so but she did take the words to mind. Any number of slip ups could cause her to fall in. Many times during her training in class she'd fubbed up on one or two simple things. Mostly her footing. This, however, was no training course and one mistake could be the end.

Her ears picked up on a noise that Hunter had been tracking for some time now. The sound of the female or some other creature though it sounded different. Stopping to look behind them she stood still watching the trees as they leaned against the wind. Something was out there watching them but she couldn't be certain.

Then she felt something that had been quite familiar to her. "He's close!" Where he was she had never learned how to point him out. He could be right in front of her or miles away but the fact that she could feel him was enough. She had thought those ties would have been squashed once he left. Apparently this wasn't the case.

“I can’t sense anything.” Hunter frowned, his expression almost a pout. He tried to feel Dyre out there in the wind, letting out a soft breath through his nose. He had stopped in his tracks and he stared out over the ravine. Where? Then something tingled along his spine. A feeling; very feint. Was this it? That strength?

The raccoon was so focused on feeling for Dyre, Hunter didn’t even sense her coming. Rei burst out from the trees onto Hunter and sent them both tumbling off into mid air.

Noe barely had time to react when both Hunter and the faekat were thrown over the edge. Running toward the cliffs she stopped only to see the raccoon fending off the rabbit kat before they disappeared in a foggy mass. "Hunter?" Questioning the actions she stood there in awe at the possibility the raccoon had finally met his demise. Turning toward the forest she yelled out with a roar worthy of a lion. "DYRE!!!!! I know you're here... save him! He's your son damnit!" Technically anyway but whatever the case, she knew he was near he had to be. "Save him or I swear I'll -- " Cut off by a sudden gust of wind she blinked and turned toward the ravine wondering if he'd hear her or not. Who or what was that?

Hunter’s body hit the side of the rocky wall and braced himself, feet scrambling for a foothold. There were sharp pinpricks of pain from his shoulders, stomach and bag, where the female Faekats claws were digging fiercely into his skin. She hadn’t thought she’d tumble over the edge with him and she hissed in panic.

“Go up; go up, go up!”

“Shut up you!” There wasn’t anywhere for him to get a good grip on. He stretched his other hand but as he gripped at rockside, it only crumbled away into his hand. Hunter’s gaze met Noelani’s. He was too heavy for her to drag back up. s**t. So he was going to die in a world far from his own. That... really sucked.

The rabbit had jumped from his shoulder before he had fallen and it hopped up and down at the edge, before going completely still, ears perking up. It seemed to be waiting for something.

That better mean what he thought it meant. “See ya later sweetheart.” Hunter winked at Noe and let go.

The Faekat and the Raccoon began to fall. Hunter was very disappointed to find that, no, his life didn’t flash before his eyes. Instead he just felt a vague sense of annoyance as he plummeted downwards.

Halfway down and vines exploded out of the rock walls, catching the two before they could go any further. The tough vines wrapped around their bodies, holding them steady. A rather annoyed Ontah appeared beside Noe, picking up the rabbit and kissing its head with a sigh.

“I made myself quite clear. Did I not?”

Noe stiffened at the voice she had meant to stay put from the beginning but her anger had gotten the best of her. There were no words to explain this so she said nothing, she didn't even look at Ontah instead her eyes looked at the ravine below. Was Hunter okay? What happened? She'd worry about reprimands and punishments later but for now her concern was on the raccoon. Screw the faekat...

"Hunter is he--?" She blinked then frowned slightly at the rabbit. How'd he get there? He was suppose to be on Hunter's shoulder last she checked. Shaking her head she met Ontah's gaze with a determined expression though no less worried. "I will only apologize for not keeping my word but I won't make excuses. Hunter? Is he okay?" The faekat would know, it was her world after all.

“Of course he is.

Onatah flicked a hand and then vines began to travel back up the side of the ravine, bringing its passengers along. “I wish to have you both safely back into your world. Not splattered upon nature’s hard edge.” The Goddess waited patiently until the vines and settled Hunter and Rei back on solid ground. She captured Rei’s with a stern look.

“Off with you young Baddie. Back to your children.”

Rei was gone in a flash.

Once Hunter had his feet back on the ground, he shuffled far back from the edge and gave a nervous laugh. “Oh man. I don’t ever wanna do that again.” He reached out, flicking Noe’s ear as if to say ‘hey, I’m alright. Don’t look so worried’.

“I have kept my promise. Dyre... step forth...”

“... as you wish.” A soft, male voice came issued from the darkness beneath the trees. A form slowly became visible, that of the Dark Angelic Dyre. He looked to Noelani with no recognition in his eyes, gaze hesitating a moment on Hunter and then settled on the Goddess. “These are the creatures you wanted me to meet?” He sounded disdainful as he stood before them proudly, arms crossed over his chest.

With a bout of relief Noe quickly rushed to hug Hunter glad that he was okay. a*****e or not she didn't want any of her Hytech friends to meet such an unsavory demise. "Don't ever do that again!" she ordered to his comment tweaking his ear just to make sure it was him. She smiled looking up to him before turning at the sound of Ontah.

Turning to the woman, she had been about to say something when the figure of Dyre's familiar face slipped into the clearing. For a moment she didn't feel anything but with his words it brought back a flood of memories she didn't want to remember. He was still as arrogant as ever but the fact that he showed no recognition in his eyes hurt... had he forgotten?

"Dyre?" Stepping forward slightly she stopped something wasn't right... this whole situation didn't feel right. Turning back to Hunter it was evident in her eyes that she was on the verge of breaking down. Once more she looked across the distance toward Dyre. "You don't remember." The question was turned into an obvious state as she warred with herself not to scream, yell or cry out her frustration.

Hunter placed a hand against the small of Noe’s back; a soft touch of support. His gaze was locked upon Dyre; his creator. His red gaze ran up and down the clearly powerful being searching for similarities. Something there that would scream, ‘yes, I was once apart of him’ and he thought he felt it. There was something in the way that Dyre stood and moved that echoed in Hunter’s own being. But at the same time; the differences were immeasurable.

“Am I supposed to?” Was Dyre’s cold reply to Noe. He cast a questioning gaze at Onatah, as if asking why she had bothered summoning him here, and she shrugged lightly.

“They came from another world to search for you Dyre.”

The Dark Angelic frowned, searching for a memory of these two creatures. Clearly the female knew him. Surely he would recall if he had come across such strange beings. Nothing came to mind. It didn’t matter anyway. They meant nothing to him. “What do you want?” He asked in a curt tone, trying to hurry this up.

There was a visible volcano stewing just below he surface. Eyes set on the being who had so carelessly entered her world, taken her under his wing, raised her taught her and even managed to fall in love with her had simply forgotten. The thought that he could easily turn her world upside down then leave and forget, not only that but left behind a constant reminder... "Cruel..." she whispered suddenly. Paws balled into fist. "It's too cruel!" She finally shouted.

"How ******** dare you do this to me! Demi-god or not what right did you have coming to my world only to forget everything about me... and him!" she threw a hand out pointing at Hunter with an accusing digit. "Why leave him behind? What was that for?"

"Even though I'm gone there will always be a part of me with you...."

She repeated the words from so long ago a morbid reminder of something that would never be. "Why? Whywhywhywhy!!!" The scream filled the forest rattling creatures, birds and trees to their very core. Her body shook with the anger pent up from so long ago. Unable to control herself the tears dripped soon after and she found herself curling into Hunter for the support she desperately need. "Please... I want to go back. Take me back to Seth... please!" she pleaded with Hunter gazing up at him with pitiful sad eyes. "You shouldn't have brought me here."

Dyre seemed completely unmoved by her outburst. He stood watching her with a cold, narrowed gaze. Nearby Onatah’s expression filled with sorrow as she saw the pain Noelani was going through.

Hunter was furious. But before he allowed himself any gratification, he wanted Noe to get it out of her system. Wrapping his arms around her he placed his chin on the top of her head and for a time simply held her. He almost found himself apologizing for having brought her here, but he knew that this would do her good. This way every last bit of Dyre could be removed and she would be able to get on with her life.

“Alright. Alright... just a moment.” He murmured before stepping away from her towards Dyre. He locked eyes with his creator. “You made me... you know you did. You can feel it. ” His approach was slow, each step placed carefully until he was standing before the Faekat. It was almost amusing to note that he was at least a head taller than Dyre.

Dyre hesitated and then nodded. “Perhaps I did. Our blood is similar. However, all that happened is now lost from memory, it is no longer a part of me.” An arrow appeared in his paw with a flash of red and he offered it to Hunter. “Take it as a memory only of the hunt and be gone from this world. You do not belong here and I never belonged in yours. Whatever once occurred must be forgotten.”

The Dark Angelic left Hunter behind him in order to stand before Noelani. The wind tugged gently at his hair as watched her with a now solemn air. He reached out, touching the side of her cheek with a tender touch. “What was once there is now gone. Forget me as I have forgotten you.”

With Hunter's presence gone she felt a shiver roll up her spine the action causing her to shudder with it. She didn't dare turn to look allowing Hunter the time necessary to come to terms with the one who made him. She only vaguely heard what was being said and with each word her heart twisted painfully. Hugging herself she turned just as Dyre came in close proximity, the wind dancing playfully in her hair. Flinching slightly from the touch to her cheek she stepped back moving away from once familiar hands. "Don't touch me..." she whispered looking away from him. "You don't get to touch me."

Slipping away further she moved back a few steps willing herself to look at the Dark Angelic. "It's not fair... it's not fair for you to forget about me while I still remember. You're cruel Dyre." She cupped a few strands of hair behind her trying to quail the emotions that warred with her. "I loved you and yet you forget... did I mean anything to you at all? Why leave him behind, it's like a ghost walking around a constant reminder. Did you think I'd fall for an image of you?" She sighed not expecting any answers although she tried smiling it only opened the flood gates to tears that trailed down her cheeks. "Don't you remember anything...?" With pleading eyes she watched him hoping something was still there anything would set her mind at ease if only he hadn't forgotten her completely.

Dyre’s arm dropped to his side and he watched Noelani with an unreadable expression. He desperately tried to recall this female, tried to remember everything that she spoke of it. It was frustrating, having somebody crying in front of you about things you had done, of which you had no memory of. It was the ultimate cruelty to have the person you love forget you entirely. He knew he was capable of wiping his own memory clean. But why would he do it? His actions had torn her apart inside, and while he was not the kindness of creatures, he was not so malicious as as to deliberately destroy another’s heart.

Had she meant anything to him? She must have. His life was in many ways a pointless one. This existence was neither important nor special; he simply lived, hunted and that was all. If something had appeared to change that, why would he get rid of it? The Dark Angelic’s face constricted in a look almost of pain. These memories... he had done a very good job getting rid of them. The only one that would be able to return them would be the Goddess of Memories herself.

“If I did remember. What would you do?” He asked first. “If I told you I still loved you; would you stay with me?”
PostPosted: Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:25 am

Noelani smiled a sad pitiful expression of her heart. Shaking her head softly she moved closer staring the faekat in his face. "I still love you Dy-Dy." She spoke softly his nickname from long ago. "It's funny how I waited so long for this moment. Ever since you left I wanted so desperately to prove to you that I could find you again and that we'd be together..." Trialing off she managed a genuine smile, tears still dripping down her cheeks. "Now that I'm here it pains me to know that you never made an attempt to return. Not only that you even managed to forget about me."

Moving closer she reached out to brush a kiss along his cheek whispering softly. "I get it. I wasn't enough to make you happy, rules or not you didn't love me enough." With bitter words she moved away brushing past him to stand before Hunter. She gave the raccoon a genuine smile before turning toward Dyre again, holding up her hand a ring glittered in the sun as she smiled again. "This is a symbol of someone who loves me the most. For that I cannot stay here. He's waiting for me." Looking back to Hunter, "Can we go now? I want to be with my fiance..."

“Whatever I did. It was done for you.” Dyre told her. He didn’t know her anymore, but he had loved her, then he would only have let her go to keep her happy and safe. The expression on his face was an old, tired one. The Dark Angelic, who had lived for so long, suddenly felt terribly weary. “Perhaps I didn’t love you enough to keep us together. In the end I know, I am a beast in which love cannot find a firm hold.” He eyed the ring on her finger and then nodded, before bending low in a bow.

“Farewell my lost love from another world. I pray you find great happiness. May you forget me.” The Dark Angelic disappeared in a flash of red light; returning to the Temple of Zamphir’s.

Hunter had stood silently by during the whole affair. He seemed almost lost; uncertain. He gripped the arrow he had been given by Dyre and watched his creator. It almost surprised him to realize his heart ached terribly for Noelani. But there was also the firm belief that she would be fine. She was not made of glass, but of iron. She would survive this.

The raccoon reached for her, tugging him into his chest for a reassuring hug. That was when her words finally reached him and he grabbed her hand, lifting it up for him to see. “That piss weak cheetah asked you to marry him?!” He looked almost disgusted. “Ugh... well.... congratulations.” Hunter was going to have to make sure Seth knew that if Noe got hurt again, he’d have his balls handed to him on a platter. They were going to have a little talk when he got back.

“Let’s get the hell out of here.”

Onatah was suddenly before them, pointing back into the forest. “You must return to where you entered Faetasia from. Then I will seal the doorway behind you.” The Goddess frowned at Hunter. “You are from both this world and your own; a creature that doesn’t fit into the order of nature. I cannot ban you from this world, if you wish to return. Simply be careful when you do. Now, off you both go.”
