I would really love to see an old woman/man (like 60 years old+) be a companion for this series 5. It will be great biggrin not chaning his diapers as if he wears one, but to help him out when needed like all other companions Doctor has had before 3nodding

I want a companion who is able to take care of themself and doesn't have self-esteem issues. Basically they may be overly aggressive because of they grew up on another planet or something

Or a female human who does not fall in love with the Doctor but is his friend and kind of like his protege. A companion who wants to be like the Doctor. She has followed him around even meeting with LINDA and running into Jack on an occasion or two, but generally view the Doctor as the ultimate source of good. Yet she must come to realize he is as faulty as almost like everyone else

An actual couple, like a husband and wife, each with their own special skills and the ability to both tag-team the Doctor and have spousal arguments every-so-often that the Doctor would try to interject into but have a hard time getting a word in edgewise. Comical, and keeps a romance aspect in the show without it being directed at the Doctor himself.

Oh, I have another idea. What about a paranormal investigator/UFO researcher? Someone who had dedicated their life to proving aliens and ghosts and bigfoot and stuff really exists, and then they find out (through the Doctor) that they were totally right! Well, at least the aliens. Turns out everything is really aliens in Doctor Who. xd

Anyway, they could be a complete nerd who is continually taking notes and pictures and trying to interview people. Of course, even if the Doctor did let them do all that and share it with humanity in our time, it wouldn't make any difference because everyone would think the person was a total quack. And this companion could easily be male or female.

Needs some more depth, but I think this would be fun. mrgreen Also, completely different from any other companion I'm aware of.

Well since the new Doctor's so young I'd like an older companion. I don't want some Rose who's going to fall in love with him because he's 20 something. I think an older (not like 90 but like late 30's or 40's) companion would be an interesting contrast.

That would be a lot of fun! Gets my vote. Though I'm still hoping for one of the Brannigan kittens. mrgreen

I actually have an OC for RPs that's -exactly- like that... xD Only she's also allergic to almost everything and sounds stuffed up all the time.

This is going to be the most unlikely one. Cat from Red Dwarf as the doctor's new companion. This suggestion is derived out sleep deprivation the song tongue tied and too many doctor who novels.

The Doctor needs more non-human pets in his TARDIS. I vote that whoever's the next to travel with him brings a cat.
Sometimes, depending on the incarnation, the Doctor acts like the implied word in "companion" is "companion animal."

Because they're meant to be audience surrogates, the next companion should be inquisitive, but also insubordinate and perhaps a little violent, sort of like a combination of Leela and Donna.

Because cats are curious. But also destructive. lol
