Bio:Everyone expected the twins to be a priest and priestess. They had been born without the braids that allowed them to connect with the plants and animals of Pandora, and thus touch Eywa, however they HAD been born with a pair of delicate wings which opened them to Eywa’s voice, continuously. They did not have to reach to connect to her, because the bond streamed into through those odd wings. So yes, it made sense that the twins would grow to serve the Na’vi by translating Eywa’s will for the people.
However, they were young, once, and like all young, Ting Te Nari chafed at the expectations. She rebelled against what everyone thought was obvious. Why did she have to be a priestess? Just because of the strange connection she and her brother shared with the world? No. She refused to accept that the only way she could serve her people was by being a priestess. In her rebellion, she tried other vocations.
She could have excelled as a hunter or warrior… if her wings had not made her a constant target in the dangerous forest of Pandora, and if she had possessed a braid with which to connect to the mounts. She tried her hoof at being a crafter… but everything she made came out terribly and fell apart instantly. She tried singing… but she had no voice for it. As a story teller, she ALMOST found her calling. She had the presence to capture attention, and a good memory for their cultural tales. However, with the constant voices of Eywa and their ancestors streaming through the back of her mind, she often trailed off in the middle of the story. Or, subconsciously, she realized that one of her audience needed a particular tale and so changed the story midway through. She simply didn’t have the focus it took to be a story teller.
At one point, she even tried to rebel against the expectation everyone had of the twins always being together. She tried to push her brother away… but almost immediately missed the presence of her other half and thus called him back, demanding to know why he had allowed her to do such a stupid thing.
By the time she reached adulthood, she came to the same conclusion that everyone had assumed all along. She had been born to be a priestess. This still didn’t sit well with her, as Ting Te Nari longed for some bit of independence. Something that was purely hers, that she had accomplished on her own with no help from anyone. Something she wouldn’t have to share. Wander lust consumed her and so she set out to help other clans with their faith and to interpret the signs of Eywa, all the while trying to find something she could claim as her own. Something that hadn’t merely been assumed from her birth.
As always, she had her brother at her side.
