He was tharn, staring at Blueflax as a moderate sized one-of-the-thousand leaped from...where?! Where had it come from. He could only stare as he saw the attack, trembling. Oh, the smell! It was the unnatural scent of the earth! She was as quick as she was lithe! He found himself unable to move for a whole ten seconds.
Then, he bolted! Oh, he'd never run so fast in his life! He almost plowed Faili over as he went, darting in all directions. "ELIL!" He kept screaming, running for the fence. He stopped dead underneath it, shaking, watching, hoping the owsla would be able to handle it.

Faili would naturally have been bowled over by the buck had she had froze as he had. The moment the foreign creature had left the ground, revealing it's position Faili was off with a kick of her paws, heading for the tallest shrubbery she could see, before thumping her hind paws heavily on the ground, hoping if Taxus' scream hadn't traveled the garden, her vibrations would.

Crow smiled back at U'tuhlroo a little, somewhat comforted. The farm really was a strange place, almost like a dream world; since food like this was just too good to be true.
Bolting up onto his haunches he looked from his place next to a fence post towards the cry. Had someone just called out elil?! Where? He looked all around and couldn't see it. Hunkering back into the grass lest he was seen, Crow wondered if it was better to hide or run. He thought there was a thump of warning, but perhaps he was imagining it in his panicked state. Hide or run, hide or run...

fear exploded in the large Bucks Gut as he let out an earsplitting cry of surprise horror and pain, he thrust his body into a flailing kicking fit, his adrenaline shooting through his veins like fire he made every attempt to dislodge the animal from his back, trying to get his claws into her best he could he squirmed with all he had, his nose caught the smell of his own blood, soaking his fur and his eyes where wide as a barn door. he screeched horridly as he flopped about. with both animals kicking blood dripped along the ground as he flailed and kicked over into a crooked fence post trying to scrape the creature off his back as he rolled, his mind was a rush of thoughts, how had he not recognized the smell? either way his will was still intact for the moment though his every fear realized that moment he felt he may not ever meet his kittens nor see his doe again. this poured a bitter coating on his pounding heart. all this in only a moment he had began to roll trying to crush the thinner mammal into the dirt. he wanted to be there when his kittens where born, he wanted to continue his work, he just wanted to live. and he'd fight as long as he could, he wouldn't go down without it.

As he flopped, the weasel held tightly. She couldn't fathom having to continue hunting, not with how hungry she already was. Four little mouths were begging for food in her burrow and she couldn't let her young down.
Blood flowed freely, staining her maw as she drained his life from him, ripping vital veins as she struggled to maintain her meal. Her claws tugged at his sides, but her long body flopped and flowed with his struggles until he grew still and she was sure she had one the battle.
She finally let go, once he kicked and breathed his last, and licked her bloodied maw. Her beady eyes scanned the area for possible danger, but none was to be seen. She grabbed his corpse by the neck and hurried off, leaving the farmyard to find her nest.

Taxus remained where he was, relaxing a bit. He cooled his head. Danger, yes, but it had its attention elsewhere. And he was fortunate not to have caught himself in any traps or attracted any more predators with all the noise he'd made. He would have to work on that...
Blueflax was putting up a fight, so Taxus took the opportunity to stamp his foot, as Faili had. Then, he slunk forwards, giving the scene of the attack a wide berth. Use this chance to get away. As he got beside them, a few rows of flayrah down, he could almost feel the battle at its end. Blueflax was dead. "My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today." He muttered as he stopped dead, watching the weasel drag the corpse off.
He shook his head. "At least the flayrah wasn't bad after all." And with that, he began to dig at a nearby radish, his ears pricked right up now, stopping every few seconds to check for elil.

The screams and thumping was immediately taken into attention by the female who had already been observing the surroundings. Tharn slowly crept up her spine, taking its toll as it had done so time and time and before, earning her the name, and condemning her to the guilt she stressed every waking day of her life. She had taken this mission to get over it, and she would be damned if she'd freeze now. Finally she broke from the reaction. Her one hind started thumping before she looked back, attempting to pinpoint the location of every one of the group members of her little band.
Crow was looking about, his reaction clearly confused at what he should be doing next. Bounding up to the little one, she gave him a hard nudge. "Hiding won't help you. Run now!" she barked. Were this a bird, a human, or even a dog, hiding could be advantageous, but if what was attacking the group now had the element of surprise, hiding wouldn't help them now.

Faili had watched with the utmost horror, the tharn finally setting in as she watched what had happened to the owsla in charge of her. It certainly drove home the message that no rabbit was safe from the elil, even the owsla. Swallowing a lump in her throat, she regained power of her nerves, her ears swiveling to hear Taxus speak. She repeated the words, softly to herself, before joining him in his raid of the radishes. Her digging skills certainly needed some practice, and now would be the time to gain it.
Her head was heavy with her first encounter, but she couldn't let it get to her. Her attention was needed elsewhere, and as heartless and cold as it seemed, creatures needed to eat. Such was the way of life. And they too needed to feast tonight. Besides, it was a lesson well learned; Life goes on no matter what.

Crow jumped up as the doe nudged him sharply, obviously in a panic. What was it? What had they seen? He sat up and looked hard, preparing to run. But what about U'tuhlroo? He stomped his hindfoot loudly, hoping to catch the doe's attention.

A scream pierced the air. Bram felt as though every nerve in his body jolted him. Quickly doing a head count of his group, his ears pricked forward before turning every which way. His fur stood on end. Elil! Had that sounded like Blueflax? Things grew quiet. Oh…why did he have a feeling of dread settle in his stomach? He hoped that the other owsla was alright. After all, he had a doe and kittens before too long waiting for him. Bramblebur drew his ears back and lowered himself to the ground. A prayer to Frith was offered up, for everyone’s protection, safety, and for strength for everyone, especially the young and inexperienced.
Bramblebur gave a quick glance over to Ginkgo with a flick of one of his ears before puffing out a breath and returned to foraging, alert. "Keep close, you two."

Ginkgo's ears flicked alert and he stood on his haunches, peering in the direction of the distant screech of Elil and the gargled cries from the rabbit that had been unfortunate. It caused his fur to bristle and his amber eyes to widen. He turned his gaze back to the group he was settled with and nodded.
He would need to go check on the other groups...

Foxtail leapt about a foot in the air when he heard the scream. “Elil! We should hide!” he ran in a panicked circle around his group, “Someone’s been caught! We need to run away! Run far far away!” his voice was high and squeaky but still softer then he would usually speak since he was paranoid about being snapped at again.
As Bramblebur spoke Foxtail stopped running about and ducked down behind him, “Stay close, right! Yes I’ll stay close, but we should get moving...”

It was about that time something caught Ginkgo's eye. Something that shouldn't be there...
He grew silent as he watched the shadow drift closer, knowing full well what it was. Was he briefly tharn? He seemed that way, as his ears fell back and his golden eyes watched the horizon.
"Guys... Guys..." His foot beat against the ground heavily to warn those in the open of the danger that was drifting closer. By then, the shadow was drifting over the patch of land where they stood.
"HAWK!"
He dashed behind himself towards the cover the plants offered, praying his sandy brown pelt would help him hide well enough.
--------
His keen eyes stared down at the land below. There were rabbits there, ripe for the picking. Four? No, three. Three rather plump rabbits. If his beak were able to twist to show expression, he would have been grinning...
Time to feed his rumbling stomach!
