Shinon walked over to the big group of people talking to each other. He approached Rei and asked, "What's going on here?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 07, 2009 11:43 pm

(Rei, you seem to be the person to ask what's going on now, don't you? xD)

FD returned the kind gesture back towards Aruna, the... snake-woman (he knew not what her race was actually called), bowing towards her. He'd seen her refusal to shake Rei's hand as he approached them, and figured she simply didn't shake hands, so perhaps bowing would be more appropriate. "It's a pleasure to meet you, as well, Aruna."

"I guess it was a good thing I stayed inside most of the day then." FD replied back to Rei's description of crazies going around, a slight smile on his face as he said it. The dragon wasn't very much surprised; after a year in Learania, one came to expect something like this to manifest itself every so often. It would be more strange for a year to go by without anything like this occuring.

"Aruna, I apologize for my ignorance, but I've never met someone of your race, and so I don't know what it's called. I'm a dragon myself." FD couldn't help but say. He appreciated how diverse Learania's population was, and especially appreciated how people of different races were able to live peacefully with each other.

Shinon spat on the ground in disgust when he noticed the snake woman standing next to Rei. "Hmph filthy half-breeds, I should feather everyone of your kind." Shinon smirked at her. "Though I've never seen a half breed like you before."

Lyre shook her own cloak out and slipped it over her shoulders.

"Well, I do understand that, I mean there isn't any reason to stay cooped up in the house all day anyway, I mean I never told you to stay inside and NOT go out, Lethe. It'd be good if you could make some friends- I know it's still weird to go to social beorc events, but people here are nothing like Begnion or Daein... except of course for the Begnion or Daeins that might be here..."

She pulled her hood over her head, and now that her hands were free, it could be seen that she had a bag tied to the back of her belt.

"But I'm NOT staying behind- I'm going with you."

User ImageAruna smiled warmly as FD returned the bow. This man certainly was polite. No wonder the group back at the café like him so much. He had such a kind attitude.

The unique woman’s anger from Rei’s insult earlier seemed to died down. Oh wait, no it didn’t. With the rude gesture and remarks from the racist sniper, her feelings of hostility rose to a new level. Because she was enraged by the archer, Aruna missed FD’s question about her race then the mention of his own.

Her long snake tail began to uncoil itself. The nagini slithered closer to Shinon in order to be in close range. “You think you can “feather” my kind,” she asked agitated. Suddenly the tip of her tail whipped out and around the man’s ankles. It yanked with enough force to pull his feet out from underneath him. When the man landed on his back, Aruna would be arched over him. “I’d like to see you try!” Her long venom injecting fangs became visible only to Shinon as she spoke. Her tan, cloth hood obscured the view of the woman's face to those observing them.

In the past this scare tactic had many humans like the sniper stumbling to their feet and running for the hills. Hopefully he would do the same. It’d be annoying if she actually had to fight him.

((Lethe post will go here. Or not.))

A bead of sweat dropped from from Shinon's forehead. He quickly rolled over to the side and jumped up his bow was nocked he shot right through her hood. "You I missed on purpose this time you scut. But next time I won't allow you to even flick your tail." Shinon walked to a tree and sat down.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Back in Pentheus, Abel had brought Alihi to the clinic. The clerics there recognized him, as he ran into the building and instantly ran over. It was always a pleasure when he came in for treatment. They thought he was funny, and he always helped them out with their work, when he came. A number of the clerics even had a small crush on him. However, when they saw the girl in his arms, they quickly got her a cot to lay on, and began to look her over. after a few minutes of conjecture, the clerics prepared Alihi and began to move her to a secluded area.

"Alihi?! ...Where are you taking her? Alihi!" A few of the clerics intercepted Abel, and blocked his path from following where the tactician was being taken. "Don't worry, everything will be alright! I'm right here!" He struggled with the clerics, ignoring their pleas for him to calm himself and wait out where they were. However, when Abel could no longer see Alihi, he stopped and stood still, staring at the door. He wanted to be in there, and know how serious the injuries were. But Alihi was in good hands now, and Abel was thankful for that. He knew that all he could do now was wait.

After about half an hour or so, Abel heard the voices of a few clerics coming out, and stood up to see that Alihi was being carried over to one of the cots. A cleric came over to Abel, and informed him that several of his friend's bones had been broken, and that she had a deep puncture in her side, when she was brought in. The cleric continued on to say that they were able to mend the bones and seal the other wounds, but that she still needed to rest for a little while, and get her energy up. Before going back to other patients, the cleric told Abel that it was a good thing the girl arrived when she did. She informed the boy that a wound like the one she had would have proven deadly if not treated in time. With a smile, the cleric then turned back around and went on about her business.

Relieved that Alihi was okay, Abel made his way over to her cot, and sat beside her. Right now, healing magic was close to being his best friend. When he saw Alihi wake up and open her eyes, he smiled and put his hand on her shoulder. "Hey there..." He looked down at her cot, then back up at her. "A-are you too hot? Cold? Maybe hungry? I can get whatever you need..." He looked at her anxiously, hoping that there was something he could do for her. "...Are you okay?"

Alihi's mind drifted in and out of consciousness as her body was slowly being repaired by the nurses. She would hear bits and pieces of conversation, some parts calmer than others, only to have them fade to silence as her mind slipped once more. She was blissfully unaware of how close to death she truly was, or how damaged her body somehow become; if she knew, she would have absolutely freaked out. Eventually she just fell asleep, being way too tired and exhausted to stay awake for a moment longer.

When she opened her eyes, the pain had mostly disappeared and there was a hand resting against her shoulder. The tactician tilted her head, her eyes widening slightly when she saw the person's face. "Abel...! I... I'm glad to see you..." She smiled softly. "I-I was so scared... Even though you told me I was going to be alright, I didn't believe it. I thought I was going to die..."

She paused, taking a moment to form her words before she spoke. "... But I'm alright now, really... My body's just tired." Alihi shifted, trying to prop herself up but failed, underestimating the effort required to accomplish such a task; in a way, she proved her point. She couldn't help but laugh softly. "... It seems that our roles got reversed somewhere along the line. You're the one who is usually injured, and I'm the one usually caring for you..." She told him, a hint of a teasing tone in her voice.

"... Thank you, though... for being here, for being by my side..." Her smile brightened. "I really appreciate it."

When she started to laugh, he looked at her with a confused expression, unsure of what had made her do such a thing. After she explained herself, Abel couldn't help but chuckle, too. It was true, he was always hurting himself, and Alihi was almost always there to stop the bleeding, or whatever else was needed. His helping out at her home must have been more of a burden, at times, because of his clumsiness.

When Alihi thanked him out of the blue, he couldn't help but blush, and look away slightly. "...N-no problem." he finally managed to get out. He swallowed the knot that always seemed to form in his throat hen he was nervous, then looked back over. He wanted to say more, but he couldn't think of the words. He just looked at her, and couldn't help but smile.

Behind the front counter of the clinic, a number of clerics were peering out at where Abel and Alihi were sitting. They did well in hiding their spying, and were most curious as to what was going on. "Do you think that's the girl?" One asked. "Shh, I'm trying to hear what they're saying!" Another objected, with an annoyingly high voice. "I don't care who she is, she's not taking him away from me!" yet another hissed out. "Oh hush, he was never yours! He's a friend to us all, now quiet and let us see what happens!" The final voice lectured. "...fine. Hmph!" The whispers then ceased, and full attention was upon the two by the cot.

Abel eyed around nervously, noticing that things had gotten quieter. It was almost as if a number of the clerics had vanished. "Um..." He started, though unsure where he was going to go with that. He thought about something to say. He had to say something. "I... I'm sorry we failed to save Amara." he blurted out. Right after he had said it, his blood ran a little cold. Had he really just said that? Alihi had just been beaten up, stabbed, gone through emergency healing, and all he could do was bring up her daughter again. "S-sorry! I didn't..." He swallowed the knot that had reformed. "I didn't mean to bring it up..."

Alihi couldn't believe the thoughts that were going through her head when she saw him blush. Something inside nagged her, gnawing on her mind irritatingly. She knew what being in love felt like. She knew. There was not a shade of doubt in her mind about her feelings, which embarrassed her to an extent. The question that nagged her, though, simple: was she able to guess emotions as well as she believed she could?

She was about to ask something, something that she might have regretted once saying it, but then Abel spoke.

"I... I'm sorry we failed to save Amara."

Alihi hesitated, twirling a few strands of hair around her finger. He quickly apologized, yes, but the words were still there, echoing in her mind. The thought of the failure, their failure, stung deep in Alihi's heart, and the sudden silence of the clinic did not help to take her mind off of it; she couldn't distract herself with other sounds. Reality settled in, and it was hard not to just break down right then and there, right in front of Abel. Her pride, or what remained of it, held it back. She couldn't lose it, not when Amara's safety was still in question.

Her eyes cast downwards. It took a few deep, calming breaths before she could even bring herself to reply. "... Don't worry about it..." She told him shakily, her hands lowering to rest on her blanket-covered lap. "It's not your fault, nor is it anyone else's... if anyone is to blame, it is me, the tactician..." She bit the inside of her cheek. "I... I could have been more prepared. I could have handled the situation better. Heck, I could have been better in general! But nope, I gave in to my rage and just struck blindly..." The tactician clapped the back of her hand against the palm of her other as her body shook slightly, her voice cold and unforgiving of herself. "... Didn't do me much good, I'd have to say..."

She forced a small smile on her face. "B-but enough on that. That's in the past. No use to worry about it any longer. I'll do better..." Her fingers interlaced with each other as she turned to look directly at Abel. She did not allow much time for a reply before changing the subject completely. "... Has there been any news since we got here? Of Akihi and the others, or some other developments...?" Alihi paused. "I-If there's nothing, that's okay, but I was just wondering... I don't want to slip too far behind, after all." The tactician laughed weakly.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Abel looked up at Alihi, when she responded. to him. "No.. that's not.." He started, but stopped, as Alihi continued on. He stared, and shook his head. He didn't believe what she was saying. He didn't believe it at all. When Alihi paused, he took the opening to speak up. "That's enough!" He snapped, slamming his hand on the side of the cot. "Don't say that about yourself. I was right there! I could have done something! And all the others were there, too, even Deborah and Ganon! We were all there, and fully capable..." He looked down a moment, and moved his hand atop Alihi's leg. "...It's no one person's fault.. the enemy was just too powerful..." He looked back at at Alihi. "So stop dealing in 'could haves'! All things 'could have' have happened differently, but they didn't, they happened the way they did, and we just have to work around it...!" He stopped, noticing that his voice was starting to get a tad squeaky. He then noticed where his hand was, and quickly removed it, and blushed again.

For a moment, the two were silent, then Alihi smiled, and moved on with the conversation, removing the awkwardness away from them. Abel turned back, when she asked about any news. "Oh... I.. I don't know, really. I ran off here with you, right when we somehow returned to the city. As far as I know.. the others are still in the desert." He looked at her, and saw that what he said didn't please her very much. "..B-but I'm sure the others must have gone back, to look for them. Deborah knows the desert really well, right? I'm sure she would know where to start looking..." He hoped that Alihi was at ease enough, with this. The others were trustworthy to act on their own. Abel had faith that the others had done what needed to be done.

Putting these thoughts aside, Abel couldn't keep himself from looking at Alihi, as she lay there on her cot. He couldn't imagine what he would do, if he hadn't gotten help in time. He thought he would probably lose it, the same way he did last time he.. lost somebody. Thinking about this made him realize just how much he cared about her. He realized it was more than that. It was something he hadn't really felt before, at least not in this way. "Alihi... I..." He didn't really know what to do. But his heart was big, and it knew. He leaned closer to the cot, and held one of Alihi's hands. "...I..." He swallowed the pesky knot in his throat, and realized that words were useless. He never was good with them. He closed his eyes and leaned in more. He didn't think. He didn't stumble. He just followed his heart.

Alihi's throat clenched, the blush that appeared when Abel rested his hand against her leg fading away. "I-I see..." She said softly, worry written clearly on her face. She was positive that people were searching for the missing group, for she could hardly believe that Roy, the son of Ninian, would just sit around while his mother was somewhere in the desert. It was a family thing, one that she understood; if she was in the proper condition, she was have ran straight into Sentria in search for Akihi. Surely, Roy wouldn't have gone alone, either. Someone would have followed him. That wasn't what was making her so nervous, though. She had faith in their group. They were capable, just as Abel had told her.

The fact that she didn't know how they would be once they returned was what chilled her to the bone. They could be perfectly fine, completely injured... or dead. Her hands clenched a little tighter.

"... Huh?" Alihi snapped out of her thoughts, noticing that Abel had said her name. She found her voice lowering to a whisper. "What is it, Abel...?" She got her answer (well, sort of) when he held one of her hands in his own and leaned in, eyes closed.

Alihi blushed brightly, her heart beating a bit faster against her chest. She couldn't believe what was happening. Was she dreaming? Did she somehow lose consciousness again? But I feel his warmth. She thought to herself, closing her eyes. In that moment, she decided to let him be the one to finish closing the distance. Since she had been through a relationship before, she was a bit more... experienced, for a lack of a better word. She feared that her instincts would take over, and that she would move way too quickly.

She remained still, waiting while her inner fangirl shamelessly screamed with joy.

"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

After the group left back for Sentria, Mihira had simply stood there, unsure of what to do. It had all happened so fast. What if Commander Vaida arrived with the guard, and the others weren't back? How would she explain that? The thought made Mihira shiver, as her blood chilled. And now she was all alone, in a city she had never been to, until recently. The streets were bustling, and the noise arose around the girl. Mihira was alone with her mount, and was soon lost in the crowd.

Remembering that some of her group was still in Pentheus, she decided to go find them. She had to deliver the current events anyway, so it was best if she found them soon. She didn't know where they were, only that the swordsman took the girl to go get healed, so Mihira searched for places of healing. She managed to stop a person on the street and ask where a place of healing was, and the person pointed behind the scout. When Mihira looked, she soon felt great disappointment, seeing that it was a church, and not a place for the type of healing she meant. When she turned back around to the person she asked, the person had gone. Mihira sighed lightly, and kept looking.

After a few more stops, she was told about a clinic not far from where she was, and her eyes lit up. This would surely be what she was looking for. Perhaps the two people were there. Mhira quickly darted off, leading her wyvern behind her. Thankfully, due to its size, the wyvern wasn't much of an obstruction in the streets.

When she got to the entrance of the clinic, she told her wyvern to stay put, while she went in. Mihira then went to the door, and knocked lightly, but nothing happened. She didn't want to just walk in on a possibly busy place. Mihira whined at her own timidness, then bit one lip, and placed one hand on the door knob. She would just have to go in quickly, and hope they were there. She then quickly flung open the door, and spoke quickly, in a higher voice, taking no time to stop and take a breath. "E-excuse me! Is there an Abel, or an Alihi here?!"

The door suddenly flung open, and a cry came out. The clerics behind the counter were so preoccupied with the couple, their faces growing more and more red (one of them out of anger), that they were caught off guard when somebody suddenly entered the clinic. They all screamed, having been startled, and tumbled over, knocking each other every which way. They all fell to the ground in some manner, however, their bodies twitching. Their secrecy was ruined.

When the door flung open, Mihira yelled, and the clerics screamed, Abel was also started. In the middle of his descent down to Alihi's lips, he lost his balance and stumbled, missing Alihi's lips and instead face planting right into the tactician's cleavage. He then rolled out, and hit his head on the side of Alihi's cot, causing him to fall limp, with a traumatized, yet somewhat satisfied expression on his face. Alihi's face could only have been one for complete and utter shock.

A sudden awkward silence filled their section of the clinic...

Alihi had no clue what to do, really. One moment, things were going just smoothly...

And the next, Abel's face was pressing right against her chest. Huh?! A blush flared to her face and she nearly shoved him off of herself. She stammered incoherently, shielding her chest with her arms and hiding her face in her hands. She was shocked, embarrassed, and even more embarrassed.

It took her a few moments and a few, deep breaths before she was able to speak without stammering so much. "... Y-yes? I'm here..." She called out, straightening herself so she looked just a tad bit more normal.
