That certainly seemed more fitting on Mr. McCormick's part. Still, she'd stick with Cloudy. So, he was a dumb one. Somehow, that made Lee's smile widen. He was as perfect as she'd thought. "Awww, haha. If Rory's picking on you, you have permission to bite his hand, okay?" Stick up for yourself, Cloudy!

"Eh, he's just spoiled 'cause I used t' sneak carrots t' him all th' time," Rory chuckled, patting Cloudy's nose. "He ain't much o' a show horse, but he'll be good fae ridin' an' you can hae him pull a cart fae you. His feathers are really nice, too." The boy pointed down at the hair around the horse's feet. "Cloudy's more like a big doggy than a horse, so he'll be friendly wi' you."

Lee laughed softly with adoration, reaching out to pet the horse once more. "... I love him." she stated bluntly, nodding once to confirm. A giant doggy that's stupid, spoiled, and cute -- with a name like Cloudy on top of that. It was like he was made for her.

Lee shrugged, keeping her eyes on the horse. "A little, yeah," she lied somewhat convincingly, enjoying the tease.

Rory moved around to hug the girl from behind playfully nipping at her neck. "Sure about tha', lover?" He chuckled a bit as Cloudy snorted and nosed at him. "Alreet, alreet. She's all yours. La, you two belong together." He let go of Lee to lean on the stall door. "You really like him, eh?"

Lee giggled softly, clearly enjoying the attention from Rory. Somehow, she didn't even notice his stink anymore. Her attention back on Cloudy, Lee nodded to Rory's question, grinning as she said, "He's perfect."

Lee nodded, suddenly realizing she was cutting into his work hours. "S-sorry..." Lee gave Cloudy a few pats before backing away, smiling at the horse before turning to Rory, ready to see his father for the second time today.

"It's alreet. I donnae mind spendin' time wi' you. Needed a break anyway," Rory said, putting an arm about her shoulders as they walked to his father's office. He knocked on the doorframe and peeked in. "Da? You busy?"
"Nae. Whatcha need?" Anson asked, looking over his newspaper at the couple.
Rory nudged Lee forward. If she wanted the horse, she was going to have to ask for it.

Lee blinked back at Rory, not having expected to be the one asking. Tugging at her shirt a bit as she stepped forward, Lee thought a moment on how to start. "I was wondering if I could have Cloudy..." More straight-forward than she'd intended, but it worked. She let her posture sink a bit, somehow a bit uncomfortable asking one of Rory's parents for anything.

Anson looked at Rory, the boy nodding behind Lee, before looking at the girl again. "Alreet." He set the paper down and took his feet off the desk. Getting up, he went to root through a filing cabinet. "Here it is." He set some papers on the desk and flipped to the back. "Just sign reet here an' he's all yours. Rory tol' you he's a geldin', reet?"

"Mmm, no. Whassat mean?" Lee looked down at the papers, feeling a bit like she was betraying her father by not listening to his advice and signing something without looking it over. Well, she wasn't signing yet. She'd wait to see what "gelding" meant first. Cloudy wasn't diseased or something, was he?

"Means he's cut. He cannae reproduce," Anson told her. "He ain't what w' like t' see in breedin', so w' had him gelded. He's a fine horse, but you wonnae get colts from him. You're alreet wi' tha', I take it."

Lee was slightly insulted on her soon-to-be horse's behalf, but simply nodded, taking the pen and signing her name, trusting Anson enough to not worry that she'd just sold her soul to the man. There. She was now the proud owner of Cloudy. Lee grinned up at Anson, nodding as she said, "Thank you, sir." She should thank Rory, too, shouldn't she?
