Ellandra calmed down a little and took Sam out of his pouch-carrier, rocking the infant and soothing him - and casting a glance to see that Bel, too, was on the verge of crying. "Sshhh, baby, don't cry, it's all right, the scary lady's gone now..... I edon't know if they're all like that, Faolan," Ellandra said, still soothing the baby, "But I'm not willing to take the chance. I like being un-bothered by people like that."

Faolan picked Bel up from the pouch. "Ay now, lass. Nae need t' cry. Th' weird chick is gone." He shushed his daughter, cuddling her and speaking didikai to her soothingly. He looked up at Elle. "I kinda think maybe we should leave. Others might've heard tha' girl talkin'."

Ellandra sighed, her eyes turning downcast as she continued to rock her son. "We should, but we haven't gotten to buy anything yet," she said, just a bit wistfully as she placed a kiss to Sam's forehead, right between his little horn buds. "There, there, baby, you're safe, it's all right."
Bel's squinched face started to relax, and soon the infant girl was cooing at her Daddy and batting at his horns again.

Faolan just chuckled at his daughter. "Elle, we're gonna have t' get you a pair o' fake horns for her t' swat at when you hold her." He snuggled Bel back into her little pouch in the carrier, then gently took Sam and snuggled him into his pouch. "Alright, let's get some books and maybe there wonnae be any other weird people comin' up t' us like tha'."

Ellandra laughed at that. "Where in the world would I get fake horns? And why would I want them? They look better on you, anyway," she said, nose-nuzzling each of the infants in turn, only to stop at Bel and look at Faolan pleadingly. "Faolan. . . .. Bel has my hair again."

"She grabs at everything, honestly," Faolan chuckled, gently prying his daughter's hand open. "I'll head over t' th' home improvement books an' meet you in fiction, okay?"

Ellandra nodded. "I think I'll look for braille-related books. . . and perhaps something that would help Rhian learn to focus better. . ." She stood on tiptoe and kissed Faolan again, before peeking around warily and heading off through the store, hoping that nobody else would harass her for autographs.

Faolan nodded and headed to the do-it-yourself section to browse home repair books.

Ellandra managed to amass a small collection of books on braille as well as one or two she thought might help Rhian, and was making her way to the fiction section to meet up with Faolan. She had been mercifully unbothered by anyone other than a helpful employee during her browsing.

"You look like you could use a hand," a young man said, noticing Ellandra as she walked past.
Faolan hummed a tune softly to the twins as he browsed a few books on gardening.

Ellandra squeaked and took a step backwards. "Oh, I'm - I'm fine, thank you," she said, managing a small, polite smile for the stranger. All she realyl wanted, though, was to get back to Faolan. She hoped this young man hadn't heard the girl earlier, that would needlessly complicate things. . .
"Ohhhh, hello there," said a voice to Faolan's right, as a pretty woman with curves in all the appropriate places smiled at him. "Those are beautiful children - it's easy to tell that you're their father." Her green eyes sparkled with not a small amount of lust as the woman offered her hand to Faolan, smiling at him with perfect white teeth, her blonde hair framing her tanned features perfectly. "I'm Samantha - and you are. . .?"

"Not interested," Faolan said as politely and curtly as he could. He ignored the woman, continuing to browse the books on gardening.
"At least let me help you carry a few," the young man said, chuckling softly. He wasn't a bad looking guy, straight black hair cut shaggy and short with smiling brown eyes. "I overheard that girl earlier saying you were Aria Vandenmar. Is that true?"

Samantha wasn't to be daunted. "Come now, don't I even get the name of such a handsome man? That hardly seems like setting a good example for your children," she said, bending a bit to coo at the babies. Bel, as obliging and curious as ever, immediately grasped a hunk of the woman's blonde hair in one little fist, scrunching her face up as she took in that this wasn't Mama - she wanted Mama. She started tear up, wanting Mama here, not this lady who looked and sounded funny, and smelled so weird.
Ellandra backed away from the young man, her eyes widening a bit. "Oh, um. . . ." Just her luck she was a horrible liar. "That's.... not my......... real name......" Where was Faolan when she needed him???

"Aw, crap," Faolan muttered under his breath, prying his daughter's hand gently from the woman's hair and trying to soothe her before she started to cry. Sam's ears were cocked forward at the sound of the woman's voice, but her perfume was rather over-powering and he started snuffling and making small whiny noises. "Now, doncha gae t' cryin', either," Fao said, stroking his son's orange hair. He glared a bit at the woman for upsetting the twins.
"I kinda figured it was a pen name," the young man chuckled and held a hand out. "Name's Douglas Renmeir." He pointed to some books on the shelf. "That's me there. Not really as good a writer as you are, but I give it a good try. Always nice to meet a fellow author."

Samantha sniffed. "Rude little brats. I see their father isn't any better," she said, and stalked off, her heels tic-tic-tic-ing as she walked. Bel, startled by the noise, burst from scrunch-faced to full-blown crying, which drew Ellandra's attention from across the store.
"Oh, well, it's nice to meet you," she said hurriedly, "But I need to go." Practically ditching the other author, Ellandra nearly tripped over her own feet getting back to Faolan and her babies, passing an irate-blonde on the way. "Faolan? Faolan, what's wrong? Is Bel okay???"
