"Science, eh?" Faolan reached over to pick up the text book, looking over the lesson. "Shouldnae be too hard t' help you out wi' this. I always liked a bit o' science when I wis your age. Well, your age-apparent." He smiled at her. "You'll be helpin' take care o' them. Your mum an' me decided tha' you an' Zia should hae a bit more responsibilities around here so you can help more wi' chores an' lookin' after th' bairns. It might help wi' your purproses, too."

Rhian stuck her tongue out. "What's there to like about science anyway?" She asked, making a face. She peered at the book, then at Faolan. "What kind of puppies are they? Are they cute? Would they like to play?"

"Elle got a cocker spaniel named Contessa an' I got meself a bulldog named Bert," Faolan said, standing up to set the book back on the desk, leaning over her to gesture to the lesson. "There's plenty to know wi' science. It explains how all o' th' universe works . . . well, fae th' most part. Plus, it can teach you how t' blow stuff up."

Rhian blinked. "Um. . . why would you want to blow anything up? That might hurt someone," she said, still looking confused. She followed Faolan over to the desk. "Contessa and Bert? I bet they're cute!" She peeked at the book on the desk, then up into Faolan's face. ". . . . You're going to tell me math's important too, aren't you?" The look on her face was a rather pathetic, pleading expression.

"It's all important, daughter-mine," Faolan chuckled, "but sometimes it donnae seem like it at th' time. I know you an' Zia ain't human, but at times, you two gotta pass as such an' it's beneficial fae you two t' know things tha' humans know." He cleared his throat, standing up straight. "For instance, if I wanted to get by outside better, I certainly wouldn't let my true accent show through."

Rhian blinked, taking a step backwards and falling to her rear in the process. "Faolan, yhou're talking all funny! Like Mama does! Is something wrong?!? Can you fix it???" Her eyes widened and she reached up, grabbing Fao by the pantsleg. "Do I need to get Mama? A doctor? What do I do?!?"

Faolan laughed, patting the Essentic on the head. "Nae, girl. It's alright." He sat down on the bed again. "Growin' up, Da wanted me t' hae a better education. Thing is, th' mantle o' leadership is usually passed down through th' family, but I'm not really family. Bein' half demon donnae really help either. Th' elders, they donnae want me takin' o'er after Da passes on, so Da hired a tutor an' I got as much an education as Lee's fancy school's were teachin' her, maybe even better. One o' th' things I was taught first was how t' not hae me accent because it makes people, well, outsiders less suspicious o' me. That's sort o' what I was tryin' t' show you about learnin' all this. It's so you an' Zia can blend in better an' humans wonnae be so suspicious."

Rhian tilted her head. "You can change your voice...... so people can't tell you're from Farstep?" She asked, trying to understand what he was saying, and what he meant by what he was saying. "But, um. . . .. " Rhian paused for a moment. "I know this isn't part of the whole learning-stuff-to-fit-in thing, but can you teach me to change my voice too?"

"Love, you donnae hae th' accent tha' I do," Faolan chuckled, "but we can see about helpin' you t' learn th' lessons so you seem more like a teenaged human girl." He leaned closer, as if sharing a secret. "An' if you want, I'll teach you th' language o' th' didikai, too, but you gotta show me you want t' learn by lettin' me help you wi' your school studies, okay?"

Rhian nodded, eyes wide. "Does that mean I'd know what you're singing to the babies sometimes?" A smile spread across her face and she hugged Faolan, antennae flicking. "I'll work very very hard!" Breaking away from the hug she bit her lip and tilted her head, an ashamed flush spreading across her face. "I bet I'll learn more than I did in that study-game with Lauss-teacher. . . " Then her antennae flicked again and she turned to face the wall in the direction of Faolan and Ellandra's room. "Why's Mama feeling so embarrassed all of a sudden?"

"Oh, prolly because she's seen th' new nightgowns an' such I got fae her," Faolan answered casually. "I hope you learn more wi' me 'cause I ain't strippin' an' I certainly donnae want t' see you naked, either. I'll get a book t'morrow on learnin' didikai, alreet?" He stood up, patting Rhian on the head. "Try t' do a few more o' th' lessons, okay? When Zia gets in, tell it tha' I said t' give you a hand. I'm gonna gae see how your mum likes th' nightgowns."
He headed to the mater bedroom. "Elle, are th' clothes alright?"

Rhian nodded and blinked as Faolan left, peeking out only once he'd gone into the room and she heard the sound of paws on the floor. "Um, puppy, whichever you are, I'm supposed to study, so don't come in here," she said quietly, turning back to the work on her desk and trying her hardest to understand it. She'd play with the puppies later. And maybe she'd just imagined those pawsteps anyway.
Ellandra, meanwhile, was trying to figure out exactly what she was doing wearing this......... non-clothing. She'd never felt more exposed in her life. And to think this one looked relatively innocent compared to some of the other things Faolan had bought! "Oh...... oh dear," she murmured, trying not to be too embarrassed.

Faolan just grinned, shutting the door behind him. "La, but ain't you a sight, wife." He walked over and settled his arms around her waist gently. "Wouldnae mind seein' you in somethin' like this everyday."

Ellandra squeaked. "I - I - oh...... h-hello, F-faolan," she stammered, blushing like she hadn't since they'd first met and started dating - all the way to the tips of her ears. "Um. . . you. . . . . you bought quite a lot of these, didn't you?"

"Oh, aye, me love, but only because I wanna see you wearin' them. You've got such a great body. Why not show it off some, even if only t' me?" Faolan purred, leaning down to kiss her.
