She finished her fourth book, putting it aside and picking up the next in the series. Emma was starting to get bored, the candle on her desk burning ever lower as the hours ticked by.

A familiar zealot treaded cautiously into Emma's comprehensive library, self-conscious of the intrusive sound of each heavy step he took. His Bible was open, the page it was turned apon littered in notation. Nyrk was enveloped in it, adding more until he came upon Emma.

He lifted the book. It was turned to a page in The Old Testament, the page was barely legible, as it was inundated with the ink of Nyrk's questioning notes. "Do you think you could find a book to solve this dilemna? I fear I'll lose sleep until I've this one resolutely solved."

Emma raised an eyebrow, clicking her fingers and watching an aged volume drop into her hand. "I've got an original King James, but be careful with it. The pages are fragile, even with stasis spells." She glanced down at the silver figures lined up on the desk, three-inch replicas of every single Battledome regular, noticing that Nyrk's was lit up due to his proximity.

"The King James version?" Nyrk thought out loud. He tilted his head toward the tome, not reaching for it physically, but contemplating it indecisively. "Would you happen to have an untranslated version?" Nyrk said, still unsure of himself, but hopeful Emma might possess it.

"I can help you with that, in a way." She vanished in a flicker of violet fire, reappearing moments later with a large scroll in her hands, heavily decorated and weighty. "I have a Torah, but not the New Testament, I'm afraid. I hope you can read Hebrew."

Though Nyrk wore a heavy scarf, it did not take half a mind to notice Nyrk's wide grin as it replaced his puzzlement. "I would not ask for it if I could not," He said to Emma, his voice almost dripping with anticipation. He took off a glove, that he might hold the scroll as gingerly as possible, revealing his true hand: an unremarkable human hand, fingers only a tad longer than normal. "Thank you, Emma," He said as he took it.

Nyrk carried it reverently, setting it on a nearby desk alongside his notated Bible, referencing them both, and to the casual observer, clearly making a lot of progress, and clearly very excited about it.

"Anytime." She responded, looking over his shoulder with interest, quickly translating the Hebrew in her head, wondering what exactly his intent was. His hand did not surprise her much, but it was good to see that his humanity was intact, at least in part.

Several candles about the library were extinguished in the time that passed as Nyrk researched his Bible and the ancient text. Nyrk's enthusiasm never abated, but eventually became expected.

Nyrk wrote down his thoughts in a notebook, which he had to ask for, as the page he was on was almost indecipherable, due to all the notes, and Nyrk did not want to write on the Torah. The notebook, however, was beginning to get overwhelmed as well, though managed to retain coherency and organization.

"I have spare parchment if you need it." Emma commented as she continued to watch over his shoulder, flipping through an old copy of The Prince.

It was a good thing he had not written on the Torah, she was very protective of her books.

Besides, the Torah wasn't even hers.

Nyrk was forced to disregard the question, his mind focused on one last important task... "There!" Nyrk exclaimed, conclusively slamming his pencil to the notebook in a decisive period. He gave Emma a quick sort of glance, as if apologizing for ignoring her a moment, then continued, "Thank you for the Torah, Emma. Some things get lost in translation, I'm certain you know the feeling, and Ihypothesized my question lied in the mistranslation." Slowing down, now with a more grateful tone, "Now I've got it. I've managed to find several incantations of combat-quality effectiveness in the process, but most importantly, I've figured out the significance of argentium in the physiology not only of that of the lycanthrope, but of the porphyric breed of vampire. It turns out that combined with..." He trailed off after he returned the Torah, walking out of the Library, still talking, quieter now, as he began explaining to himself and growing more distant.

She watched him leave, slightly puzzled but happy that he had found what he wanted. Replacing the Torah with as much delicacy as she could manage, she resumed her place at the desk, conjuring a book from the deeper depths of the library and opening it up.

Emma reappeared in the library directly from the bedroom, lacing up her bodice and allowing her hair to straighten itself. A faint violet glow surrounded her, continuing to shine as she sat back down at the desk and opened her half-written grimoire, and she took up quill and ink.

Skutz pops in, "everything ok, Emma?" he asks, "you seem so spacious or something, mellow probably." Skutz puts the book he was reading away while inspecting Emma.

"More than okay, I believe." She said softly without looking up from her book. The inspection would only reveal a feeling of contentment about the enchantress, and perhaps a few short, white hairs on her shoulder.

Skutz just smiled to know that she was fine, "I wonder if this place has any books about cowboys..." "I'll be around," he said as he departed from the reading area to browse the shelves, while being amazed at the collection that surrounded him.

((Late night, eh?))
