Yes, depending on the design of the rifle, will determine the number of rounds you can fit in. Then there is the fact of attachments, such as a scope, would actually limit how you load a gun. So if you have a scope, you actually have to load each single bullet in, one at a time.

Now, the power pack idea is not a good idea for a rifle. I still think something like a caster shell from the show Outlaw Star is a good idea, as each bullet needs to be made by a mage of some sort or another, but each are actual bullets that can be loaded. Granted, we don't need to have them as powerful as the caster shells are in teh show, have them more like regular bullets of varying strengths, like your element idea.

Not familiar with Outlaw Star (more research for me! smile ) But I did do another post right before yours, so maybe those ideas would work?

I'll go research "caster shells" . . .

EDIT: Okay, so the idea is similar to the sniper ammunition . . . . having the bullet itself be enchanted with magical properties. Maybe instead of power levels, each type could have different effects. Such as the one listsed earlier about draining life-force, and in addition paralysis, perhaps viral infection, and maybe some sort of fear-inducing spell, just to name a few.

that would work reasonably well, though, with as much stuff as we're covering here, I'm starting to wonder if we shouldn't move this over to the guild so that we don't lock this up at the top of the forum?

You're right. Unless this would help anyone else trying to do something as foolish as mixing tech and magic.

But I can easily copy and paste everything relevent over.

Yea, let's move it on over, just let me know what topic in which forum in the guild I should move this chat over to.

I dumped it in the "lockbox" since that subforum isn't being used at the moment. I was copying and pasting before I saw your response. Oh, it's the only non-announcement there. "Abra tech discussion"
