At least it's a family... She thought as a faint picture suddenly flashed through her mind, making her pause before taking a step. Was there something buried deep in her memories that she had forgotten about? Shaking off the feeling she followed Mwenye.
"I'm sure I'll at least enjoy meeting them. I'm rather curious. How long has it been since you've seen your family?" She asked curiously. By the sound of it he hadn't seen his own family for a long time... that in an odd way brought a smile to her features.

Mwenye looked over his shoulder as Ilaria followed him, for a brief moment he caught a look in her eyes as if she was remembering something but wasn't sure what it was and then in a moment it was gone. He turned his attention back ahead of him as she followed him. "It... it's been awhile." he said thinking back to the last time he'd seen his family.
He had seen them for only a few moments in passing a few months ago but the last time he'd spent any amount of time with them had been before his father came back. Once he had returned Mwenye had looked for any way to get away from them that he could and finally he took off on his own, unable to handle the way his mother welcomed the betrayer back with open arms.

How was it, whenever he was wandering about, Freniere always managed to run into some kind of family connection? Not to mention his mother had children with more than one lion, it seemed his father and his step-father had too. A disgusted look crossed his face as he tried to hide it from his brother. There was a strong connection between Freniere and Jysben, although they were not full brothers they acted like it. "I thought you were going to the desert?" He questioned his brother curiously. Last he had known Jys had even met a lioness...
Jysben plodded next to his brother, it had been a while since they had spent any time together and he had to admit it was a nice reprieve from the lioness he was bringing to the desert. "I am, you just happened to cross our path. I had to come see you, she is waiting a ways away... that is if she hasn't moved on herself..." He said with a sigh. This lioness was giving him troubles but in an odd way he didn't mind. "What about you? Are you off the trail of your brother?" Jysben purposely made note that he never claimed Aito as his brother, as if he were some scar on the family.
Ilaria walked beside Mwenye in silence. She was currently day dreaming of what the perfect life with him would be, only to be rudely awakened when she accidently bumped into him. Blushing and mumbling a sorry she corrected herself and walked straight.... She really ought to learn to daydream and walk in a straight line. Mentally laughing at the idea she kept her gaze forward. Her ears perked as she caught a faint musical sound. "What's that?" She whispered, afraid that speaking loud would make the noise disappear.

Mwenye had been paying close attention too Ilaria until he got the feeling that they were in the proximity of others. Then his attention strayed as he focused all his senses on trying to figure out what and who was around them. Soon he had picked up voices that sounded somewhat familiar but he couldn't quite place them.
As he struggled to place the voices with faces in his mind Ilaria bumped into him causing him to stagger sideways a step or two. Turning to look at her he raised a brow at her mumbled apology and shook his head "It's fine, just be careful about where you're walking." he replied.
A few steps later is seemed that she had picked up on the voices too because she asked him about the noise. He shook his head, still trying to place the voices with faces and finally it clicked. "That... is one of my brothers and... one of my half-brothers too it sounds like." he answered her earlier question and frowned. He was happy that he would get to see Jysben but not so excited that it would require him to meet Freniere too. They had never really gotten along it seemed that the older sibling had the same outlook on him as he did of his younger half-siblings even though Mwenye had done nothing but try to make him proud.
Turning back to Ilaria he looked her in the eyes "Say nothing, and stay behind me until I let you know it's alright. Jysben and I are fine together but... Freniere and I... we don't get along so well." he warned her, his eyes conveying everything else he could not say, he was worried about her, and felt that it was his job to protect her from others, especially his family.

Ilaria's eyes grew a little but she kept her fright at bay, trying to keep as quiet and serious as possible, she still managed to take a couple steps back and slide herself a little behind Mwenye, just in case things didn't quite go as planned. She was curious, that was true... what did vampires act like when thery were in a group together? She hem-hawed over this for a couple moments until the music got louder, as if it were an introduction for someone.
Freniere looked away from his brother, his mind had closed out Aito... he didn't want to think of him anymore. "He has died in my mind, and he should die in yours too, brother." He said with a snap. It was rare that he ever got tempered with Jysben. He had to admit, out of his step-brothers, he and Jysben got alone the best... then again he was the only one he regularly saw and come to think of it he never really cared about the 'step' part. Jysebn had been his brother when 'the-forgotten-one', as he now was going to think of Aito, had not. Shaking out his mane, his crown jingling the eerie music' Freniere sighed. He was about to apologize until he noticed two lions in the distance. "Now brother... how was it we did not notice a morsel in our presence?" He said quietly, a smirk lining his maw.
Jysben's ear dropped back and he glared at his feet. He didn't like it when Freniere snapped at him, because he was bigger and more powerful. Although there were both offspring of a vampire, Freniere had been blessed with the powers of controling sand, as well as fire. He was mother's 'prince' and she was sure all of her children knew this. When 'morsel' pricked his ears he looked up, noticing Ilaria first for she was the only mortal around. Jysben was only half vampire, blessed with longevity and not the curse of having what came with fangs for he had none. "Why Mwyene... when have you started playing with your food?" He said with a raised brow and a smirk. Of course he had been kidding, Mwyene would catch that... but how would Freniere deal with a mortal female so close?

Mwenye let his tail gently brush against Illaria's shoulder as she moved behind him. He could tell she was curious but frightened as well. As she should be. he reminded himself as he saw Freniere and Jysben getting closer.
He tuned his senses to the pair and picked up Freniere's comment the idea of Illaria being food for anyone, much less his own family grated his nerves and he growled low. Just because Freniere was the favorite and had special abilities didn't mean that Mwenye was just going to back down and let him do as he pleased. Those days were long since past and Mwenye didn't feel like reverting to them today.
Jysben however was as friendly as always and it seemed his sense of humor was still slightly distorted. Mwenye flicked his tail and smirked "She is more useful to me alive, it seems that wandering on my own for so long has driven me to the brink of madness with boredom." He stepped forward a few steps until he felt he was close enough to the pair for his liking given the current situation. He kept one eye on Freniere and made sure that Illaria was still behind him, Freniere had never been known for his restraint, at least not to Mwenye.

It was almost histerical to Freniere how Mwyene was acting. It had been a rather long time since he had tasted innocent blood. He now reserved his consumption to those who were wicked, evil, et cetera, et cetera... but he could tell this female was of importance to his half-brother, therefore he couldn't help but pry. "Now, Now Mywene. Brother. What is the cause of such displeasure? We are merely commenting on the deliciousness of your little guest." He let his eyes roam freely over Ilaria, purposely making eyes at her, just to irritate his brother. He was in high spirits today, but even on his bad days he would never intentionally hurt his brothers, except maybe the 'dead one'.
Jysben grinned at Mywene then gave a brief nod to Ilaria to show he meant no harm. Throwing a glance to his side he lifted a brow to Freniere... it was odd how friendly he was being to their brother. What had changed him? Did this whole 'vanquishing evil' really change his ways? Chuckling to himself he sighed and looked at the ground. "Freniere... you are such a character." He said under his breath, just so Freinere, and possible Mwyene, could hear him. "Please, darling lioness, why do you stand behind my brother? He couldn't possibly win if both of us decided to attack." He said with a snort of laughter then moved forward, lightly bumping heads with Mwyene in a manly sory of greeting.
When the brothers started talking, Ilaria was entranced, she had to literally shake her head to come out from under their spell... 'Vampires.' She thought, reminding herself. she had heard of their strange powers, but had yet to actually see any of them to be proved. She had found herself attracted to the one called Freniere, perhaps it was because he was the most determined looking, or maybe it was the crown. She honestly had no clue. Edging a little close to Mywene so her shoulder brushed his flank, she tried not to skitter away when Jysben approached. As she watched their greeting she realized he had been joking about the two against one comment and she breath a small sigh of relief.

Mwenye was still watching Freniere warily but was quickly becoming confused by his behavior. He was acting nothing like he had the last time they'd met and Mwenye wasn't quite sure what to make of it. "Forgive me for relying on past experience as an expectation of your behavior and being cautious as a result." he growled though. Freniere may not be blatantly attacking or ridiculing him as he had in the past but Mwenye wasn't ready to believe he had really changed.
Returning Jysben's greeting he grinned and his reply was in an unmistakable tone, joking and jubilant, that was meant to put Illaria at ease "It may be true I would lose in the end but we both know that I'd give you one heck of a run in the process."
Looking to Illaria who was still standing beside him, now even closer than before he brushed her flank with his tail gently, a movement meant to reassure her and then he spoke to both Freniere and Jysben, though mostly to the later, "Brothers, this is Illaria, she is my new... traveling companion." he didn't dare tell them that he'd been dreaming of her since before he left the family in the first place, they would think he was insane besides, she didn't even know that little tidbit of information yet.
