"Some times, not amount of private tutoring can deflate and head full of hot air." Marlo didn't seem to mind that much. he'd had worse rejections in the past. Some ending with girls chasing him out of public places. Really. He tries to be helpful and ends up being called a pervert. Girls.
"The weekend. We're only allowed out then, but, if you want to meet up sooner I can always sneak out. it's not that hard." As she pulled out her older phone, Marlo had to stifle a smile chuckle. It was ancient as far as cells phones went. Not quite brick..but close. His seemed more..futuristic when compared. "Trade numbers?" he offered her the phone. It was always better to trade off then talk. At least to him it was.

"The weekend sounds fine! I'm usually very busy during the week with school and Theatre. Besides, I don't want you getting into trouble..what if you were caught?"
Alba eyed his phone, a small pang of jealousy briefly crossing over into her mind. Maybe she should find herself a small work-study job that would allow her to afford such a sleek, small design. She bets he can even take photos with it!
"Sure!" She grinned, and offered her simple blocky phone. "It doesn't do a whole lot," She admitted, "But at least it doesn't drop my calls!" Once they traded phones, she eyed its menu in wonder. Where oh where is the phone book in this thing..?

"If I was caught, I'd get detention. And well...detention isn't exactly pleasant, you know?" Smiling he punched in his number and added himself to contacts. But, secretly, he wondered if he did it correctly. The phone was simple in it's design, but due to it's simplicity, he wasn't positive he didn't just do something horrible. Looking up, he noticed she seemed to be having difficulty too. "Just punch in your number and go down to add a name. It's kinda an odd set up." More so for someone who didn't own one like it. At least it wasn't a touch screen.
"So, next weekend then?" Marlo asked, picking up the lyre case.

"Oh!" She nodded her head in understanding, and managed to do exactly what he said. What a strange set-up indeed. "If you hear two happy little beeps after you entered yours, you did it right. It's weird, I know, I guess the manufacturers at the time thought it would make it more..personable? Like R2D2?" She gave an embarrassed sort of grin. Not like her cellphone was made in the 1970s or anything.
"And detention is no good at all. Next weekend it definitely is!" She winked playfully before switching back phones. "Thanks again for teaching me, and letting me listen to your music! It's really very nice. I hope you come to the park more often so that I may hear you play."
With exchanges being made, Alba stood up, wiped some stray grass blades from her skirt, and headed on her way back to the dorms. She had stayed in the park a lot longer than she intended to, and now she has to go back to finish the rest of her homework. While it was sad that she didn't have a chance to draw anything yet, it was definitely worthwhile from meeting a new friend, from a new school, even!
Life wasn't so bad. Things were beginning to pick up now that she was getting along better people, like normal kids tend to do.
