Hello, My Name is Jonathan or Alucard, which ever you prefer.
Im a Baptist have been a Baptist for eleven months. Before I joined my church I was always finding myself in trouble. Ive been to three churches before this one, and those three have been a big disappointment. I judged all churches and christians by what two of those three churches were like, and have been proven wrong. I have a one year old daughter and am nineteen years old. I have been called to preach and am doing my best to learn as much theology as I can due to the fact that I work. Ummm I have no clue what else to put, so I like answering questions so go ahead answer whatever question you'd like.

Hey all!

I'm San, I'm a Heathen (Nordic recon) and a Hedgewitch. I live in New Zealand and I work in a bookstore. I am totally bored at the moment.

I'm interested in Hellenic reconstruction and Kemet, more academically than out of a desire to actively practise, but you never know. I honour a handful of Greek deities in a recon-inspired sort of way, but not actively. And Anpu fascinates me. So we'll see.

I'm also interested academically in Judaism and Catholicism, and particularly in Christian heresies and Gnosticism.

Hello there! My name is Mary. I foudn this guild because of my new buddy Ren and I thought it looked interesting. So here I am!

As far as religion goes, I was christened Catholic, and when my mom left the church, we became baptist, and eventually we stopped going to church altogether. Since then, I have been a Wiccan, a Pagan, a christian again, and now I'm just nothing..complete lack of faith. I suppose that's why I'm here. I want to believe in something.

I live in Alabama as well, and I am a housewife to a Germanic NeoPagan. We are not formally married, because I am not allowed to get married (long story), but we have taken a pledge to each other, and as far as I am concerned, that is as good as marriage.

I don't have a problem with religions, in themselves. I am extremely tolerant of any religion and any person, until they tell me that I am going to burn in hell for what I believe (or don't believe, as the case may be)

I actually helped someone? Yay! *hugs*

Hi, My name is Kelsey (sometimes on the internet I go by Abby, just because I like the sound of it!)

Um, I am Christian. I have been nondenominational all my life but have recently been looking at liberal protestant Churches. I'm going to be a junior in high school and for non-religious reasons I am vegetarian! ^^

I think this guild is a wonderful idea and I think promoting tolerance is a wonderful goal!

There she is! biggrin

I actually don't entirely consider myself any denomination, but I'm pretty sure my church is protestant. It's too bad you don't live here, because it's pretty liberal and loving. A lot of the members even have tattoos.

And yay to being a vegetarian! biggrin

Well that's sweet! I'm actually having a little "Church issues" I want to go to one that my parents "don't agree with"
But the thing is, it's more nontraditional but one I'm actually excited to go to! The one in town is boring and meh, but the other one is more youth oriented and amazing.
Oh well.

From what I understand, "liberal protestant" is something like a denomination of Christianity.
Different from Liberal like the political party. http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/2001/06/What-Liberal-Protestants-Believe.aspx

I had always considered myself nondenominational but this pretty much fit me exactly.

If your interested you should check out this site, it was helpful for me and may be for you aswell ^^ http://www.beliefnet.com/Entertainment/Quizzes/BeliefOMatic.aspx
It's a quiz that takes what you believe and matches to other belief systems to see what agrees whit you.

It's certainly informative and interesting.

That is pretty interesting.

But I don't really need to. I love my church to pieces. We have coffee, they're so accepting, and they have a coffee shop across town, which gives all it's profits to helping those in need. The worship music is also more youth oriented. I love it there.

Well, your parents are still letting you, right? I doubt there's anything wrong with it. I mean, my boyfriend's mom didn't like the church he went to, but then, she's from Alabama and used to traditional churches.

Well, it's complicated. Even though both my parents are Christian their denominations conflict so it's hard for them to both agree on a Church.

So rather than going to Church even though it wasn't perfect, we pretty much gave up going to Church all together for more than a few years.

Then one day mom saw an ad for a Church "A Church for the people who don't do Church" We went and I was in love!
Then the pastor said one thing I don't remember what it was but my dad was all like "that was a total misinterpretation of the Bible" the whole way home. So we haven't gone since.

Then because we're trying to do this Church thing again, we went to a more local Church that I did not like and that's the one they want to go to again but I don't really like it. So, now we're back to square one, not going to Church. :/

Liberal Protestant is not a denomination. Protestant denominations, well all christian denominations, are like countries. Some people are liberal and some are conservative and some are in the middle. Liberal Protestant is just being a type of protestant and being liberal. A church tends to all be one kind, either liberal, also called progressive, conservative or somewhere in between. My Methodist church for example was very progressive. Now there are some denominations as a whole that are progressive like Episcopal. They actually allow homosexuals to be pastors. It's in their doctrine.

Ummm if you can't tell even though I'm an agnostic theist I know a lot about Christianity. I used to spend hours talking to my pastor and I used to be involved in my Church's head council. I know how church's work. Plus my mom is still the lay leader for my old church.

Hi, it's you! xD I previously attempted to ask you something but, when I went to post, the thread had been deleted. What does SWL (I think that is correct - the letters often placed after saying Allah) mean?

I hear that. To this day my parents STILL confuse me, because my mom is Methodist, and my dad was raised Mormon. The thing that confuses me is that my dad's an Atheist and hates Mormonism, and yet, for a few weeks they were taking us to a Mormon church. I dunno. After that there was no church, and I was an Atheist.

Well that's silly. Now, I'm not going to question anyone who doesn't go to church. To each their own, but I feel it helps one get closer to God. But really, finding the perfect church is near impossible.

You know, your dad should have TALKED to the Pastor. He must have forgotten that few know the Bible like nobody's business, and few don't misinterpret things.

I'm very sorry. I will pray for things to work out for you, okay? :]

Oh! What does Assalaam waleikum mean?

But nice to meet you! All of you, really. I'm just too lazy to reply to everyone. sweatdrop
