*winces* No... I'm ok... I can survive. *She then returned the bluerider's smile* I know. A dear friend of mine R'em is a blue rider. *scratches the blues' eye ridges sighing with contentment as she remembered doing the very same thing to R'em's Lorath.* I survived this long...*she thought to herself.* By any chance have you heard from R'em? He was of this weyr, he had Pern's largest Blue, Lorath was the size of a brown. *Her voice had a some what pleading tone in it.*

*Heroe shook her head* I'm fine. I don't need a healer, I just need some numbweed. *Begins stroking under the great dragon's head.* Lorath loved that... *Her eyes were starting to shimmer with tears.* What if they were killed in the last Thread fall? *came her thought, a single tear fell down her cheek.*

Tallith had not realised that the bronzes would reply so fiercely to his rebuke but found himself somewhat heartened by this. Let those bronzes roar and make a fuss, let them fear a brown! What would they do if they were beaten by an impudent "lesser" dragon? If a dragon could chuckle it would have felt most appropriate to do so at that time.

He roared back, giving another great beat of his wings to propel him forwards, he did not like the fact that the bronzes appeared to be catching up, in fact he hated it! His snout wrinkled in the beginnings of a snarl at the images of those bronzes beating him to the chase. No, he would not let that happen. His mind had been racing so fast with these thoughts that he hardly even heard the other brown reply to his angry call, perhaps this was a good thing as his respect lay more with Siventh than any other.

Anymore thoughts he had on this matter were quickly eliminated as the queen once again made another teasing gesture. Her lithe golden form tumbled from the sky and his heart leaped with sudden excitement, this flight was far from over.

He waited with slight impatience as the gold flew beneath him and trumpeting his eagerness in this new turn of events the brown copied her motion, tucking his wings firmly against his back as his large form began to descend at a rapid speed. Eyes lidded over briefly, dulling the harsh glow of purple as he spread his wings once more, turning his fall into a gentle soaring.

Ah yes this gold was a cunning one, already finding a thermal and being whisked away upon it, yet that small manoeuvre had brought him closer to her, and he took it upon himself to trumpet this successful step. Raising his sinuous neck up so he could gaze at her glimmering form he copied her motion, taking it upon himself to fly the thermal and be raised into the sky once more.

With a sharp twist of his wings, Tallith brought himself into another horizontal course, making sure to stay lower in the sky than she. He would wait, he could wait, and he felt like he never wanted this to end. The large brown found himself wishing that a dragon could fly forever, on wings that never buckled, never tired, then this flight would never have to end. At this moment in time the brown dragon felt like he could continue this airborne dance for hours.

Then the queen looked back once more, her large and shining purple eyes scanning the skies for her persuers...for him!

It was a feeling not even the most absent-minded dragon would ever forget.

-----

L'cian was filled with a sudden renewal of strength, his own eyes gazing upon the golden queen's. In them he saw a challenge, a pride and nobility that was fit for a dragon of her stature. Tallith's strength mounted and joined with his own, making the rider completely unaware of his surroundings. He had no need to care about them either, the people around him, the place he was standing in...none of it was important, not when he was Tallith and Tallith was him. Not when the queen was growing closer.

She's diving! Feronamth could not contain his excitement and he trumpeted. Her dive brought him closer now and all the other males would have to dive. His muscles relaxed just slightly as he found a good thermal lifting him, pushing him closer. Her body glinting as she lifted suddenly. Yet he had halved the distance between them and his energy renewed as he realized he was gaining on the group and fast.

He paid no heed to the other males, they were of no consequence. He had only one target in mind. He beat his wings faster then, seeing a trailing brown. He could take over a brown. His bronze pride told him. Exerting himself just a little more he finally found himself only a breaths length from the group. He wanted to growl, he wanted to bugle again, but decided to hold it for the moment, he needed his strength to outfly the others.

Basarith bellowed fiercely as the queen made her abrupt turn around and rather clumsily turned on a wing to pursue, his energy starting to disappate no matter how eager he was to have the golden female for his own. A mating flight was a tough thing to stack upon running mock Wing formations previously for hours on end. He wasn't about to fall out of the running yet and beat his great wings with a greater urgency when he realized he'd fallen behind.

V'lyrn stood stock-still in the Weyrwoman's quarters, gripping the edge of his riding jacket unknowingly in his white-knuckled grasp. He felt the rumble of frustration fly through his bond's soul.

The Night Itself

Zephyr trilled his concern at his impressed as T'bell went about his room looking for something that could 'save' him. "Not now Zeph...er...maybe you should leave." He plucked the blue from his shoulder and smiled at the swirling eyes. "Go...go play in the bath, hm? Water." He pulled aside the curtain and set the blue in his bathing pool. Zephyr chirruped at him, but splashed around happily., looking over his shoulder as he did so.

T'bell gave him a half smile and let the curtain drop. Now...the desk was far to heavy for him to wrestle across to the stairway. The tables, however, were not nearly as large or cumbersome. The various decorations atop them were quickly relocated to the desk, shelves, or mantle, and he pulled and piled the few tables in his room in front of the door. One pull at the chest at the end of his bed told him that was not moving any more than the desk. With a sigh, he turned and surveyed his barricade.

Two small tables and half of a big green rump which would soon be outside anyway. Brilliant.

You are being silly love. Liliath rumbled absently, her jaws parted a bit as she watched the flight in progress with rapt concentration. They fly well...

"Liliath!" Whether it was more of a whine, or a protest, one really couldn't tell. "You can't rise. You can't. You're not allowed!" The humour of this statement, which normally would merit comment from the green, was lost as her full attention was on the other dragons.

Sorry guys to re-cap this time round due to lack of posting for a few members. It appears though that the flight may be coming to a close with this round or the next one. Whose going to catch the prize? smile

Round 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The golden globe had risen to its midday peak to lick it's warm rays upon the group of brown and bronze hides following one the same color as the globe itself, but the energy of the golden was was beginning to wane as the pursuing pack. Riders and dragons were both feeling the strain of the flight but continued with their last reserves of strength.

Eyes of never waning purple lust paid little heed to the group in pursit instead focused upon the ground that was rushing forward. Pinions had collapsed moments before to drop the golden form towards the bare earth below but opened mer seconds to impact, allowing the now lithe queen to glide just above the stipped land. The sound of hide wings breaking open behind her urged her to find thermals that would allow her to glide upwards again to the cloud cover which was dwindling in the suns heat.

With each warm thermal catching the hide of her mighty wings she drifted upwards, but not as swiftly as before. The thermals were beginning to loose their power. With several beats of her wings she managed to gain altitude and slip into a large path of misty coolness but not without taking a toll upon her energy reserves. Being so young, and her first flight in the wide blew skies did not allow her to have as much stamina as one might have liked but none the less, she had fought valiantly. Now it was up to whomever managed to take her by surprise. She had dwindling strength to plummet to the ground and recover in time before collision.

Basarith tried valiantly to follow the queen in her dive but he was tired. More tired than he'd like to admit. As the queen fell away, he gave a desperate bellow and dove down in mimicry of the golden dragon's movement, but he was too far behind.

Strength slowly ebbed away from his tired muscles, taut from long sessions of wing manuvers and this flight, and he found himself lessing the urgency of his wingbeats even those his eyes still raged with the colors of lust. He knew he could go no longer.

Tallith himself was tiring, and was struggling more than he would ever like to admit, yet there was an urgent plea in the back of his own dragon mind that kept him continuing onward towards her. If he let her get too far now then it would be too late and he would fail just as all expected him to.

Did a brown really have a place in a Queen's flight?

He growled, catching another thermal beneath the flimsy membranes of his spread wings and was once again whirled higher into the sky. There were no rules that said a brown could not fly, he was as large as any bronze here and he would make sure to at least put up a good fight.

Eyes burning a renewed purple he focused his attention once again on the beautiful queen ahead of him. She must also be feeling the fatigue of such a long flight, especially it being her very first one. Yes, she would definitely be a fine prize.

Suddenly she tumbled downwards, and although every part of him wanted to follow there was another that told him to be patient, and to wait. She wanted them to follow, to fall behind and be left in the empty sky to nurse a wounded ego. She would rise up into the air again he was sure.

As if the queen had read his mind her wings opened once more and sought out the thermals, her glittering body rising once again up into the sky. A sudden rise of excitement spread within him, his eyes focusing on the cloud just ahead and a small voice - perhaps that of his rider - told him to take the chance.

Holding back a roar of triumph the brown gave an extra beat of his tremendous wings and pulled himself further forwards, catching a thermal which whisked him up into the belly of the clouds. His brown hide was muted out against the paleness of the gathered moisture and turning his head downwards suddenly realised just how close the queen was. Did she realise he was there?

Take the chance, a voice murmured somewhere inside the great brown's head and folding in his wings he dropped the short distance towards her, inner-lids covering his large purple-whirling eyes and talons outstretched...

The Capture!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ariath was gliding easily upon the thermals, the cool misty air of the clouds around causing tiny water droplets to form on her hide but she cared little. Her attention was focused downward, watching for any sight of a male breaking the whiteness of the cloud to come after her, but she hadn't expected one to come from above.

Before she and her rider realized what happened brown talons had caught her and soon she and her new mate were entwined with one another. Gold and bronze were one as the two drgaons continued out the flight together, all thoughts of the other males lost from the queens mind.

Ephia had been taken by surprise just as her dragon was, but quickly accepted the talons of the other dragon. Quickly Ephia fell from her drgaons mind, lost in her own desires and lusts as her eyes fell upon the brownrider. Without wasting time Ephia was in L'cian's arms her lips locked with his.

Ok guys the flight is pretty much over. Feel free to continue RPing as I am sure some of the riders and/or dragons will be dissapointed thye didn't catch Ariath. Plus, I doubt many bronzes are happy about a brown catching her. wink Sorry I didn't wait for you all to post but it was just the perfect oppurtunity.
