Lee grinned up at Rory, placing the koi carving in her lap and wishing she'd worn something with big pockets. Scratching her head, she was sure her parents would use the images of her they had to find her and take her home. "Eh, makes more sense to me than you might think..." Biting her lip, she looked down into her lap. "Rory, if I disappear all of a sudden, it's not 'cause I moved away and didn't feel like saying bye to you. I'm pretty sure my parents will find me here sooner or later..."

"If you disappear, I'll come find you," Rory said, taking her hand in his, jaw set determinedly. "Afterall, if'n I do a fool thing an' rush into marriage wi' you, at least I donnae hae t' get it annulled, right?"

Lee's eyes peered up at him, the worry from her face growing soft and finally a bittersweet smile formed on her face. If she were any other girl, she'd have hugged him, kissed him, or maybe even tears would have risen in her eyes. But she was Lee, and the best she could muster up was a small squeeze of his hand and a nod.

Rory gave her a lopsided sort of grin. "Did you wanna get somthin' t' eat, or did you wanna study some first?" He fidgeted a little. "Or we could talk more."

"Study first, I s'pose." While studying was likely her least favorite activity, she really needed to catch up so she could actually attend classes. Not to mention, she was a bit too tongue tied to really talk anymore.

Rory just nodded, getting up to fetch some very well-worn school books from the small shelf in his vardo. He held them out to Lee. "I ain't sure what subject you wanna start with."

Lee took the books and let them plop next to her on the bed. "History." She'd made up her mind before he'd even asked. History was the only subject she was actually good at. Math and Science would come later. She thought it was best to show Rory what she could do before he saw... well, everything else.

The boy nodded, looking a bit sheepish. History was not a strong subject for him. He had trouble remembering all the dates and people and events. "Well, w're pretty much here so far." He opened the book to the chapter they were studying in class." He scooted closer to her on the bed, their knees touching slightly.

Lee laughed with slight embarrassment as she looked over the topics they were currently studying. She'd never heard of most of the people, and after looking at the dates, she saw why. "I only finished reading to about..." She searched for the chapter about where she'd left off, flipping the pages backward until she recognized something. "Here. I think I'm like... two chapters behind. That's not so bad, I guess..."

"Nae, not so bad," Rory answered softly, watching her instead of studying the book. "You hae really pretty eyes. Ne'er seen a color like tha' afore."

Blinking a few times, Lee looked up from the book before a deep blush rose in her cheeks. "Th-thanks..." Rory was making it very easy to pay no attention to studying. "Ya know... you do, too. But I'm sure everyone says that..." Giving compliments was almost as embarrassing as receiving them.

Lee tilted her head, also quite confused. "Are really light colored eyes normal here?" She had yet to see such a shade. Then again, she'd thought her eyes were pretty common.

"Blue eyes ain't unusual," Rory answered, not understanding her question. "Yours are sorta like . . . sapphires." He closed his eyes, putting a hand up over his face. "Mine ain't so special, though. Hardly any color t' them at all."

Sapphires? Her blush managed to grow deeper, and she, too, put a hand in front of her face -- at least until he talked about his own eyes. "B-but... that's what makes them special." Gently tugging his hand away from his face, she looked up into his eyes. "Yours're the prettiest eyes." She wasn't just trying to make him feel better, either.
