darkphoenix1247 Behatzlacha-S I live in a country with a socialized health care system. Would anyone like to ask me some questions, as I've experienced it physically first-hand? What would you do for complicated and technologically advanced treatments that are very expensive? (aka Can you get them and how does it get paid for?) How long do you have to wait to see the doctor? Q1: All treatments are readily available. Expensive treatments are not given to a select few. The NHS will cover all costs for everything, no exception. However, waiting lists for "Non-urgent surgery" can stretch on for several months. The most I've heard is 6 months for knee surgery. But I understand you have similar complaints in the Ooh Ess Aye. Q2: If you go to the clinic at 8am in the morning, expect a wait of up to 6 hours. However, with an appointment, the wait is non-existant. In A&E, the wait can vary from instantaneous to 4 hours.

dancing-in-the-streets Behatzlacha-S I live in a country with a socialized health care system. Would anyone like to ask me some questions, as I've experienced it physically first-hand? ...what does it cost your country to run this? What system of 'socialized healthcare' is it? One with a buyout plan for people who aren't satisfied or one like Japan's, where different portions of society pay for different portions of society's care? (Not that those are opposites, but as an example) I totally forgot which country you are from, so that would help too... British smile Q3. Basically, the NHS has a budget of 100bn pounds sterling annually. It is the world's second biggest employer. It is readily available to all, but for those biased against socialized healthcare, there are private medical care companies. All other information about the National Health Service is easily accessible online. (NB: Do not read articles from British newspapers other than the Independent or the Guardian. All the rest are politically-biased lying tissue paper.

Dr. Awkward Behatzlacha-S I live in a country with a socialized health care system. Would anyone like to ask me some questions, as I've experienced it physically first-hand? Does your average British taxpayer stay up all night, worrying about other citizens abusing the socialized health system~? No they do not. Obviously, some people do abuse it, whether it's the homeless man who pretends to have a heart attack so he can have a warm night in bed and a nice meal, or the women who thinks she can get cosmetic surgery cheap if she tells her doctor that her mental health is being affected by her small breasts. However, most people are just glad that when they need medical attention, they don't have to worry about being thrown out onto the street if they can't afford insurance.

Do you really think conservative ideas are to blame for everything? Conservative ideas aren't to blame for anything at all. Even I have those once in a while. Conservative policies are to blame. If all of my cerebral flatulence were to be made into law, why, I do believe we'd be living in a Libertarian nation.

Er.... Perhaps we have a different definition of Libertarian, but that's completely free from government control... aka Fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

I don't really know about it. I'm hearing all sorts of things about it and a lot of disturbing things about it... but then I find out that stuff's coming from Fox and they're just fear mongering like they have been since Obama got elected. I listen more to Jon Stewart more than any other news guy and he seems to know that it isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
Of course my dad is a SUPER CONSERVATIVE!! (I always compare him Fascist Italy, lol...) so he's always listening to Fox and he's trying to tell me how bad Health Care is.
I'm not as educated as I could be on this subject so I don't have much of an opinion on it.

Ackh, you'd probably have to hear him talk. My dad, in my opinion, leans more towards the Duce's quote then 'ol Ronald Reagen.

Dr. Awkward Britain has homeless people~? Oy vey are you guys losing some ground since Winston Churchill. Must be Thatcher's influence. It's complicated, but no matter what the homeless will exist, even in a welfare state. Some will end up that way by choice (seriously), others through circumstance, but there's no way to prevent it. And yes, Thatcher was the British equivalent to Franco.
