"I'm aware." came a response. "But in spite of that, I'm just really excited to meet somebody new!" She knew she shouldn't be too hasty. It was an unwise decision to go galloping throughout the terrains you did not know. Who knew what dangers or mishaps lay ahead. Still, Kaya knew that this journey would be a safe one. Somehow. Call it instinct, or whathaveyou. There would be adventure, and there would be a happy ending...

She nodded at the response, and continued on. They would get there in due time, and though she felt no rush, she was very well aware that her new friend was eager to see everything there was to see. She contemplated how Kaya seemed, at least in that respect, to be the complete opposite of her own outlook on life - Shiva wanted to see everything, but she valued the time she had here and now, in the present.
She had gathered that the other pup was obviously not from here, but wondered where she WAS from. "So... tell me about your world?" she implored cautiously. She didn't want to pry, but she was curious as could be. She also figured a good story would pass the time, and she could share events of her own short life as Kaya shared her own.
That brought up another interesting point to the wolf's mind. She weighed the options of silence and sound - speaking to a friend, the sound of laughter, or the sounds of nature - and pondered which she preferred more. If she had been a normal wolf, she would have spent most of her lone life in complete silence, but being what she was, the wolf lived with not only the sounds of nature, but the sounds of human life, and not only normal speech, but one that pervaded her very brain.
But back to the question at hand. She didn't figure Kaya had been alive long enough to see a season change, as Shiva hadn't, so there was no point in asking about snow - Sadly, she thought. She trotted along, aware of their surroundings, as she awaited any kind of answer.

Kaya contemplated for but a moment whether to tell Shiva of her past or not. How would it sound if she spoke of witchery and deceit? And a mysterious savior which even she herself was unaware of the identity. It had all happened so fast. "Well, you see..." she started, making her tone relay clearly that this was going to be quite a long tale.
"My brother and I escaped a very bad human who performed witchcraft of some sort in the place we were kept with our mother. Our mother was beaten and battered and used for her fur. Thankfully one night a mysterious savior, whom I call mysterious because I do not know who it was, managed to distract the human long enough for us to disappear." She paused at last, trying not to frown. "And my mother... My mother sadly didn't make it." She didn't like to think about it, but it wasn't as excruciating as it could be. No tears would fall in the memories or mournings of her flesh and blood. She was stronger than that, and they would have not wanted it that way...
"My brother and I, adhering to our mother's last wishes, raced off into the night. The next morning we were captured again by some interesting humans who did some weird stuff to us but THEN! As soon as we got our energy back we fled. My brother, he collapsed along the way. I tried to go back for help, to anybody, but to no avail. I collapsed too I believe, because I don't remember what happened next. I just remember waking up to a dark pup who said his name was... Decca I believe? Anyways. He saved me, him and his friend Dune. When I left his place I met you."
Finally she could shut up, hoping to be forgiven for such a long history to tell. It was generally not amusing to listen onwardly to someone's discussion if that discussion became a monologue. Unfortunately for the case, explaining each detail was an important part of understanding the female.
Her legs carried her swiftly and gracefully through the forestry lining. Still not a single tired muscle in her body, she allowed her tail to sway to and fro in light of her pleasure. It was a good day, and she was by no means shy about disclosing her past to Shiva. Or to anyone, really. She was an open book to the nicest of wolves and creatures alike.

Along with Kaya's story, Shiva felt the little rushes of emotion that came with telling it. Her instinct was to put herself in Kaya's pawprints, and wonder how she would cope with things if it were her own morbid tale, but she immediately felt just as Kaya herself did in her situation. It was strange, and confusing.
In a way, Shiva was almost jealous. At least Kaya knew what had become of her family, and she had met a load of wolves along the way. It was almost unbearable to attempt to bear the weight of her own missing parents and Kaya's missing family at the same time, and the little wolf tried her hardest to block out her friend's emotions.
She nodded as the story was over, and instantly moved closer to Kaya in their trot, nudging the black and white femme in understanding. She didn't have any words for now, and she ran in silence, taking note of when the Blinding Trees and Mangroves started to pervade the ground with their knotted roots. They would have to move a bit farther away from the riverbank now, as the roots posed a danger of trapped and broken legs, and she steered the pair of them a bit Eastward, to keep on solid ground.
Before they knew it, they would be within smelling distance of Ghede. Shiva could hardly wait to be home.
