As she listened, she could feel her eyes slowly close as if softly lulled to sleep by Rockstar's song. She hadn't realized how much energy she had exhausted. The sun's light breaking through the trees just added to the warm and fuzzy feeling. Until her body finally dropped with a soft plop on the soil. She started to softly snore with the barest of smiles, as if she could still hear the stallion's tune while she slept.

" His soft song faded into silence and Rock opened his eyes slowly. He had not even noticed that he had closed them and swayed to the music. Or that he had stopped his stride. He smiled with his performance of the song and looked around for his little filly friend.
"Wint- oh there you are!" He said when he saw her laying, sleeping, at his feet. He caught his breath and bit his lip, hoping he had not woken her. He kneeled down beside her and brushed her short mane out of her sleeping eyes. In his eyes she looked so peaceful and pure. So innocent and vulnerable.Even more than before, in his heart he felt a longing to protect the small filly. He smiled.
I hope I can be a good parent, so I can protect them just as I will now protect Winter.

In her dream she floated above the clouds on angel wings. The white feathers fell all around her. She came across an opening in the clouds, where rays of light seeped through. As she moved closer a lyrical sound drifted up from it. Faintly she could hear the words... 'Tell me you need me
You live like a window...'
That was all Winter could remember of her dream. She opened her eyes slowly, still groggy from her nap. The sky had grown dark - she must have slept for longer than she thought. "Da-" She stopped and looked at the stallion resting next to her, it was Rockstar. She nudged him with her muzzle, hoping to stir him a little. "Rock we fell asleep. We should probably head home..."
With a blink, Winter had the sudden realization that she did not know where her home was. She was lost.

Rock had slipped into a soft sleep after the sun had been swallowed by the horizon once more. His sleep was dreamless, but quiet and peaceful. At the soft nudging on his eyes, his blue eyes fluttered open and he opened his mouth for a loin yawn. Smacking his lips from the pleasure of his nap, he began to look around. Surprised he was not safely in his teepee, as usual, he looked down to see the winter blue filly. "Oh," he said reminding himself of the little adventure he had had with the sweet foal before they had both fallen to sleep.
"Oh my its late, your right. Time for home." He smiled at her and brushed the sleepy mane out of her eyes, standing up and stretching.
"Do you want me to escort you, my fine lady?" He chuckled.

"Yes...but umm..." she was slightly embarassed, "I'm not sure which way it is." Winter prodded the ground with her front hoof, a little anxiously. "I do know that we live near a field covered in flowers, lots of them! Do you know of any place like that?"
She started to wonder how her parents would react to her staying out so late, and then arriving home with a stranger. They would probably just be happy she was home, the young foal told herself.

"I field filled with flowers, huh? I know one or two that are completely covered, we could check them one by one." he smiled down at her, "Alright?"
He stood up and turned his eyes towards the direction of the nearest one he knew of. "Ready for another adventure little lady?"

Her worried filled thoughts settled at Rock's words. "Yes, always." She smiled broadly up at him. Soon they would find her home and her family. She moved closer ready to follow wherever they would go.

Rock returned her lovely smile with one of his own. He shook himself, ready to go with the young filly once more. Feeling the parental protection over her even more strongly now.
"Off we go then!"
The field he knew was only about a half an hour's walk, they walked together humming and singing mis-matched songs for company. They looked up at the clouds in the sky and found shapes in them. Laughs and smiles passed around once more.
Rockstar crossed over one last hedge, stepping on it to flatten it for Winter. And infront of the two of them lay a field filled with red and yellow flowers. it was breathtaking and beautiful!
"Is this it winter?"

Winter peered over the crushed hedge to gaze upon the field. There were a lot of flowers but the colors seemed to be wrong. She couldn't remember so much red. "The flowers were mostly white and yellow...I think."
Just to be sure she looked over the area once more. She didn't see any signs of her family. "Maybe the next one?" She added sheepishly.

Rock pondered over the various flower field etched into his mind. white and yellow...white and yellow... He lightly chewed on his tongue in thought.
"AH!" he exclaimed in triumph as he thought he had the right one in his mind now. "I think I know which one you mean, its one of the clearings I personally really like! Though its a bit further away." He looked over into its direction, the moon already dimly shining in the night sky, though it was not too late yet.
"Come on Winter, our adventure is not over yet!"
He chuckled jovially at the filly, he truly enjoyed her company and hoped he would be able to share some more time with her he had already learned so much from her.

She looked in the same direction as her friend. The moon was beginning to show. Winter knew it was late, much too late for a foal to be out. She turned back to Rock, choosing to ignore the possibilities of the future. All they had was the here and now.
She whinnied happily as the two rushed off at his comment. Her adventure would never be over, she thought to herself.

Together they ran towards the field in Rock's mind. As they did so, Rock's ears flicked at every emerging night sound from the nature around them. The voices of the night, the wind, and the click of their hooves played a strange, but enticing symphony in his head. He smiled to himself and looked down at his little companion with a grin. He couldn't really get over just how adorable she was. He wondered that, if he had a daughter one day, she would be as cute and sweet as Winter.
Just as he thought of what his and Candy's daughter might look like, they jumped over a bush to see the field of yellow and white flowers. All his thoughts were taken away as he basked in the moonlit beauty of the pasture.
"oh wow...."

"I'm home!" She exclaimed as soon as the two had entered the edge of the field. She could see the group of trees where her family would sleep when it was warm. She looked to Rockstar, Winter did not want to say goodbye.
Alas she had to sleep and her new friend and teacher had to go to his home as well. She sighed and pouted inwardly, "I have to go home... So I guess this is good bye..."
The blue filly's voice trailed off and her eyes stared at the ground. She could feel her bi-colored eyes start to sting, it was only a matter of time before the tears would come.

Rock smiled down at the filly sadly, "I guess it is." Even in the short amount of time they had offered together, they had grown quite close. And Rockstar could feel it. He didn't want to leave beautiful little foal to go on his way, he wanted to play, spend more time with her. Take care of her and learn even more. Something about her told him she was special - it wasn't just the strangely colored eyes.
"Don't worry darling, Ill be back soon! Now that your here I will have even more reason to visit this beautiful field. I had a fantastic time with you my dear. But it is time to go home." He agreed sadly, reaching his head down to give her an affectionate nuzzle. Would his own children be as warm and soft as her, he wondered after he pulled away.
"Take care Winter!" He called as he turned to be on his way home, now excited to see his beloved Candy.

She reciprocated his nuzzle, and only then as she pulled away did a tear fall down her blue cheek. "Bye, Rock!" She called out in a voice much quieter than normal.
Winter turned and trotted off into the spot where her parents would be fast asleep. They were there. The blue foal curled up next to her brother and closed her eyes. She smiled remembering their day and the thought of their next visit made it grow even bigger as she drifted off to sleep.
