"I fancy myself as a bit of a singer as well," Riddic said, before the subject got changed yet again. "Your wife? This lovely young lady? I can see why you compared her as to that of a Goddess. She certainly has the looks of one."

Angela felt heat rise to her cheeks at both Zen's very sudden gesture and the proclamation about their relationship. Not to mention Riddic's compliment.
Technically a demi-goddess, she thought. But she didn't figure she should say that.
"You flatter me yet again, your highness. I don't know what my...husband has been saying about me but you mustn't take him seriously. He tends to be rather melodramatic and far more silly than one would expect from someone like him." She managed a slightly embarrassed laugh and looked at Zen. "Love, I told you I'd be arriving a little after you. I don't understand why you seem so surprised."
Forget kicking him. As soon as they were alone, he was a dead man.

Zen had a giant cheesey smile on to cover the urge to run off he was having. "I thought you were going to be very late, it was quite a while since I'd heard back from you." He was thinking while covering up the oddities... and he realized it was a long time... He narrowed his eyes, feeling displeased and curious as to where she'd gotten to. "Felt like she was gone forever!" Zen squeezed her closer.

Riddic couldn't help but smile at the two of them, and was about to comment when out of nowhere a blonde-haired boy came rushing over to them and hid behind the prince.
At first glance, one would think the boy was a female, considering his knee-length hair, but at the moment he was only wearing a pair of white slacks, and nothing else. No shirt, and not even any shoes. Besides his hair, the most noticeable thing about him was the red oval-shaped jewel embedded into his upper right arm. It was a bloodstone, which was famous for mirroring that of the setting sun over the ocean.
"Xi--" Riddic started, but the boy covered Riddic's mouth to muffle the rest.
"Shh! Just hide me!"
About then, a few guards came through the doorway of the ball. Most people stopped and stared, and the music stopped temporarily. It wasn't until the Queen announced that there was no danger did everyone go back to what they were doing. She quickly ushered the guards out of the ballroom, not wanting them to ruin the evening.
Seeing this, Xipilli sighed in relief, pulling his hand away. "Thanks." Spotting Angela and Zen, Xipilli quickly became flustered and attempted a box, though he was blushing all the way through. "F-forgive me if I was interrupting anything!"

"Zen, darling," Angela said. "I missed you too but I fear if you squeeze any tighter, I shan't be able to breathe." He seemed awfully possessive suddenly. She wondered if it was possible he just realized it had been nearly a year since they'd seen each other.
It was at that moment a half-naked boy with long hair ran in and hid behind Riddic for a few moments. When he looked at them some time later and apologized for interrupting, she just gave him an amused smile.
"You don't have to apologize," she told the boy gently as he bowed clumsily. She eyed the stone embedded in his arm. Hm...this was an interesting development.

"Hello there?" Zen asked, happy for a subject change, but he wasn't letting go for some reason.

Xipilli waved hi shyly, retreating behind Riddic again. Huffing, the prince pushed him in front. "This is Xipilli Charriere," Riddic said, introducing the boy. The surname Charriere was the same as the royal family's, and, truth be told, the boy looked to be more alike to the king and queen than the prince did, yet Riddic was their only (proclaimed) son by blood relation. "Xipilli, this is Angela, and her husband." He motioned to each of them in turn.
"I'm the head of the Bejeweled, as you can see," Xipilli offered an explanation as he saw Angela eying his regalia. "I speak with Goddess Amaterasu on behalf of the country."
Riddic turned to him with a slight sigh. "Exactly why were the guards after you?"
Xipilli jumped at this, then glanced off, twiddling his thumbs. "They were wanting to put me in a dress, Riddic! A dress!" He hung his head. "It's safest here than anywhere else in the castle at the moment..."

"due to public display I'd imagine such." Zen was back to his political self with his double entandres. "And what does she say?" Zen asked curiously.

Angela had no idea what Xipilli had just said about goddesses (ugh...not more powers...) and bejeweled things and what not. She just nodded politely as if she knew precisely what he meant.
And Zen being introduced as her husband was just too bizarre for words. She blushed slightly. Especially considering that he still had a very tight grip on her and didn't show any signs of letting go.
"Why were they trying to put you in a dress?" she asked the boy. She could sympathize. She'd nearly run away when her father told her she'd have to wear one. Of course, he was a boy. Which was even worse.
"And this is Zen," she added when she realized that Riddic didn't seem to know Zen's name. Well, if he could blurt out hers, she was certainly going to return the favor and tell them his.

"I don't really remember when she decides to speak through me," Xipilli admitted to Zen, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm sure one of the high priestesses would be able to tell you, though."
Riddic decided to answer Angela's question for the blonde, but then realized he didn't really know, either. "Yes, why /did/ they want you in a dress?"
Xipilli blushed fiercely at the thought, now staring at the floor. "I-it was for some ceremony or something. . . . I'm loyal to Goddess Amaterasu, I really am! But wearing a dress for some silly ritual is where I draw the line!"

"I don't blame you for running away," Angela said sympathetically. "What sort of ritual would require a male to wear a dress anyway? That's just rather odd." She gave him a smile. "But don't worry Xipilli. I promise we'll hide you if the guards come back. Though I wonder if we shouldn't make an effort to locate a tunic for you."

"I feel you fully." Zen remembered a bad memory about dresses and hiding, and was especially sympothetic. "Oh the rituals can get so strange..." He mumbled to himself, still wanting a reason to poke Riddic's hand.

"I don't really know... The priests didn't say exactly say, but I really do need some sort of shirt. Problem is, I wouldn't be able to find one. At least, not here," Xipilli said, agreeing with Angela. "I'd ask Riddic to fetch one for me, but he's the guest of honor here. If it isn't too much trouble, would one of you fetch me one? And possibly some shoes, too?"
Riddic nearly rolled his eyes at this. "That is not something you ask someone to do for you," he told Xipilli sternly. He then bowed slightly to Angela and Zen in apology. "Please forgive him, he does not know how to act as a noble very well. If you please, ignore his wish, unless you truly want to help him."

"Of course I'll help," Angela said earnestly. "Just tell me where to go to find something appropriate."
She figured they wouldn't take kindly to the idea of grabbing some random noble and conking him on the head so they could steal his clothes, which wouldn't require anyone to leave. And besides, this was a great chance to snoop around a bit without Zen looking over her shoulder. She was thrilled to see him (even if she did want to simultaneously kick and strangle him at the moment) and wanted nothing more than to get him alone so they could talk and catch up and...talk. More.
But she was here at her father's request so for now, she really ought to focus on doing what he'd asked of her.
She gave Riddic a bright smile. "I'm very glad to help, your highness. Please don't worry about it." she said.

"I'll get the shoes!" Zen wanted to be useful, in order to kind of gain some ground in order to snoop some more.
