 Okay.

Demod me or something, while you're at it. I don't want to feel like I should be doing something if I just annoy people when I do.

emo emo :goth: :ska: :sulk:

...saves me plenty of trouble, though. Go do whatever you want. Not like it effects me at all, other than that now I have a lot of stuff that I thought I had to do and don't now. Yay, free time. Maybe I'll go do a bio.

Though I suppose I should go and read the 'style of things' that Dan did, since before I left on my vacation he said that he was going to be using the style that I was making.

and makes it so that all knights and such won't be identical.

And for that I'm just ashamed of you.

For shame.

*Shakes his head and looks at the ground.*

And here I was thinking that you were... gasp... creative. eek

...and when WAS this decided?

Somewhere in the week between when Sey posted that I should answer those questions and the time when I did? A week. No posts. Someone could have at least mentioned it, somewhere, anywhere... even in the class thread in the crew forum.

Get off your asses, people! *Waggles a stick at them.*

...either way, I'm out. *Falls over and wants to sleep for a week.*

It was actually decided in a chat last night.

And it isn't up because Dan and Mia didn't say anything about it, meaning I had to before you went and did work that probably wouldn't be used...

Edit: And to add...

...what I had meant is that the skill lists wouldn't be identical. It isn't really plausible that every single knight would have learned the exact same skills and abilities, regardless of interests and personal opinions.

Yep.

But that was why I tried to make them pretty damn broad in how they worked.

I mean, learning "I swing really hard to knock this guy down" tends to gravitate towards low level, while "I'm a huge, scary death machine that will whup your a**" tends to gravitate towards high level.

Do I even have any skills in there that are so specific as to not be completely different depending upon how people choose to RP them?

Bah. *waves his hand and gets ready for work*

Yeah, but Josh, look at it this way.

If a character wields a greatsword or two-handed axe or something, they have no business learning how to handle a shield, as they'll never use it. But the way you have the skills set up, they'd be forced to learn that skill.

The way Dan has it, they could ignore the shield skills, and get something a little more useful.

I tend to think that if 'Shield Bash' were named something different, but otherwise kept more or less the same, it could translate to a variety of moves, regardless of exactly how much shield is involved.

I think that's where Josh was going with that. ninja In fact, a few posts back, I could have sworn he said exactly that.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:30 pm

If you don't have a shield, you'd shoulder check somebody into a wall.

It's not quite a backhand, since you need to throw your body weight into it.

I really hate when people get too hung up on the name of something to realize that it's a damned RP and they can just use their imaginations to think of creative ways to impliment it so that their character doesn't have to fit 'the mold' that they percieve.

Anyways... whatever 'new system' you guys want to use, go ahead and use it if you want to write all the classes yourselves. But that's it... you'll have to do them yourselves. I've already got most of them done, just not written out. And because you don't like shields, there's apparently some big problem.

I DID suggest that 'talent tree' system when we discussed this in chats before, and it got shot down because it was 'too complicated'. I'm the only one working on these things, and I've been working on them, and I don't see any input from anyone else other than complaints about minor details such as the NAME of an ability or class.

If you want to do them that way, go ahead. I'm going to finish them my way, and you can throw them out if you'd rather have no classes at all, because it doesn't seem to me like anyone is really going to do them if I don't, since I've been gone two weeks and had stated outright that I want people to give ideas or even try to do one of the classes themselves... and yet there's nothing other than a "we decided not to do it that way anymore".

So, forgive me if I'm not to eloquent in saying this, but "no".

WoG needs to go, and I'm too busy with other things to rewrite everything I have so far. You guys finish the things that you were assigned (or voluneteered) to do, and I'll finish the part that I offered to help Truewind with when you slapped the responsibility on him.

If you want to revise or rewrite them when we're done, go ahead, but I'm going to do them so that we at least HAVE them.

*cheers Jello on from the sidelines*

Though I do see where Lance is coming from. If I were looking at a class, and I saw a technique labeled "Shield Bash" I would think I had to use it with a shield. ...maybe it should just be called "Bash" or possibly "Blunt Object Bash"? sweatdrop

I personally never liked the class system, but I know I'm in the minority for that. I'd prefer things to be as unstructured and generalized (while still preserving the feel of WoG) as possible. But, hey, I'm pretty sure that's what Jello and Dan are trying to do.

I also want to say, ******** AIM chats. You want to use them to decide s**t, then you'd better have everyone that decision affects in the ******** chat. Or else post a "Hey, this is what a bunch of us talked about last night, what do the rest of you think?" in the forums and wait for responses before doing anything definite. Cause what you (Crim, Dan, Sey, and whoever else was in that chat to "decide" this) just did? That's not cool.

I know I'm a week late...that's cause the forums here have been dead for so long I haven't been bothering to check them.

Of course, you're forgetting that Sey is the Captain and Dan the Vice-Captain, Owle. So basically, what they say goes.

Of course, all of this is irrelevent as nobody actually decided to work on them in the second format. So really this was completely pointless, and I made myself look like an a**. Oh well.

Notice:

Samurai class is done.

Next on the chopping block: Fighter class. Be prepared to punch.

K...

*took a look at Lord/Lady/Samurai*

Coupla small issues....

The weapon's list
A Samurai's chosen weapon may be any of the following: Wakizashi, Katana, Zatoichi, Tachi, Nodachi, Spear, Halberd, Glaive... FURTHER LIST POPULATION APPRECIATED

I could help ya out if I knew exactly you are wanted. Are they in any way shape, form or fashion, limited in their weapon groups? Or just in their weapon from their chosen group?

Example: We know a sword weilding Samurai is okay, as is a polearm group. But what about an axe weilding?

In addition, Are we listing Lord/Lady seperately from Samurai? Becasue you seem to be limiting the descriptions to oriental terms.

That said: Here are just a few weapons from the orient that I can think of off the top of my head.

Naginata
Nagamaki...gee wonder why I thought of that one. xp
Kama
Jo
Bo
Tonfa
Keibo
Yari
Ebo
Jutte-was used by the samurai.
Yumi
Sai

The other small thing was:

Catch a Breath

The Samurai is not merely known for having a quick hand and a keen eye, but also for being fleet of foot. A Samurai experiences enhanced movement speed when running as opposed to other classes, improving at 20% per level. At Renshyusei level, a Samurai would run 140% as fast as a man of his build and stature normally would be able to. At Daimyo level, 200%.
This speed was priased hightly by a Higashi emperor once, when one of his Daimyo managed to traverse a hall and catch a breath before it snuffed out a candle flame.

It just seems kinda...iunno..pointless to me. Speed is something that people just seem to do. What with crossing threads and so on. It's one of those ...either going to be RP'd or not type thing. I know there is a standard action to it, but it just...

*tries to say what she means, but fails it seems*

It just strikes me that it would either be ignored or abused.

*thinks it's close to what she means but knows it isn't quite*

confused

*looks acshew at you for the way you responded, like the capslocks and lack of grammer*

Just the feel of the writing was as if it was focused on just the oriental side. Like the references to Ki as well as the whole honor thing taken to such extremes, I guess. As well as everything was Samurai this, and Samurai that. *shrug* Just an impression.

Just the way it struck me, but we also know I tend to overanalyze everything. sweatdrop

Perhaps because it was the Samurai movelist?

Which is the warrior caste for... ohmagosh... the oriental third of WoG?

I want to know where your brain went, and what sauce they used when it was eaten.
