"Close enough," Rabid laughed as the building began swallowing the motorcycle.
Ike quickly leaped out of the sidebucket, Reid in his arms, and tossed his helmet into the growing gap.
"Ike no like May-Vaaaaarrrr..." he murmured, his ears folded back.
"Hm," Rabid screwed up her face, "They must not weigh enough to be recognized...ANYWAY! The mall's just down the road. You can see it over that building...over there. It's right next to the rat hole Rabid grew up in, if yeh wanna see. C'mon..." She smiled and motioned for Chao to follow. Again, impressing her friend with a simple city was horribly exciting...not that Mei-Vaar was at all simplictic...
"Reid okee?" Ike asked curiously, finally releasing his friend as the motorcycle disappeared completely and the platform was replaced by a new one.

"Rat holes sound exciting," Chao replied, eyes still scanning the nearby area. Big cities always made her feel a bit...crowded, but excited none the less. Besides, it was a day trip, something she could easily deal with. With a nod to herself she followed her friend.
"Reid no like May-Vaar eith'," Reid replied. There were almost too many sounds here, he couldn't concentrate and pick out one or focus on anything for longer than a few moments without something changing in his range of vision.
Reid gave his head a shake and settled on focusing on his friend, who didn't change colors or shift every five seconds and smiled, "but Ike here so Reid ki. Lessgo?"

"C'mon," Rabid smiled down at the boys, and then at Chao, "It gets calmer. I promise. It's a week day. Everyone will be at work in a few m--" There was a sudden, collective mechanical groaning.
"In a few now."
She turned on her heel and began walking around the corner and down the block, revelling in the classical music pouring from hidden speakers.
Ike followed close behind Mummy, staying by Reid's side. All of these big shiny things make him horribly nervous.
"There," Rabid said as she reached the large metal building just around the corner, "Sixth floor, first window."
The windows, though, were barred and covered by thick maroon curtains. School was in. She shuddered at how innocent the orphanage looked now, after all these years.
"AWWWWWWWWWWWK!" Poe screeched at a large Kyn that flew overhead. It looked just like him! Sadly, the Kyn didn't answer, and he huffed, sending a ring of smoke into the air.

Chao blinked at the groaning, all at once facinated and weirded out by noise and the mechanics of the city in general. Although world traveling was in her blood she had a tendancy to stick to mostly organic worlds, metal gears and electrics seemed even more tempermental and harder to predict than shifting soil.
Reid smiled at the classical music, calmed slightly by the vaguely similar sounds. He glowed slightly, just barely backlighting his shirt.
Chao tilted her head at it, looking over the building curiously. "Why're the windows covered?"

"Well," Rabid thought back to the rule book, "No natural light is to be allowed to enter the room, for it distracts students. Creepy, ain't it?" She stepped onto a fast-moving mobile sidewalk and motioned for everyone to follow. It'd make getting to the mall just that much easier..."that much" being almost not at all. It was just fun to ride.
Ike listened to the music surrounding them and peered about curiously while absentmindedly stepping onto the sidewalk. Where was it coming from? He then noticed his friend's faint glow.
"Reid okay?" he asked, "Reid like moo-zick?"
Poe leaped out of Master's bag and dropped to the sidewalk, frightened by its movement and cowering like a rabbit between the younger girl's ankles.

Chao shuddered, "very creepy," she eyed the sidewalk and hopped on.
"Mhm, moozic good," Reid nodded and mindlessly followed Ike, only to gasp as the sidewalk under his feet moved. Wings fluttering and glow going dissapearing he latched onto his friend's tail and hovered about an inch over the moving surface.

Ike turned his head, following his tail from the base to Reid. He smiled sympathetically and stepped off before he hit a solid wall.
"Ike keep Reid safe, 'kay?"
Rabid quickly leaped off the sidewalk after nearly smacking face-first into the wall of the mall.
Poe, sadly, did thwack into the wall, and ran backward, horribly frightened.
Rabid laughed slightly and retrieved the dragon before motioning to the building before them. It was metallic, up until the glass roof. It was just one floor tall, and not as large as one would have expected. At closer inspection, tiny intricate engravings could be seen in the metal, depicting natural scenes.
"C'mon," Rabid smiled, "Time to do what girls do best." She, in truth, hadn't been shopping with another female before. Ever.

Reid shot a glare back towards the moving sidewalk and halted his wings, sliding the two pairs back under the blue sheild and landing neatly on firm ground. He gave Ike a small, greatful smile andnodded his head, not one to pass up a friendly offer of protection, espically not in this mechanized, confusing world, "ki, thankyu."
"Is this what girls do best?" Chao asked, hopping off the sidewalk and giving Reid's hair a fond ruffle before taking a closer look at the engravings in the metal.

"Not in Mei-Vaar. You have boobies. Be afraid. Be very afraid," Rabid said and laughed before stepping within the automatic doors. She peered around the vast space and the great variety of...almost identical-looking shops.
"Anything you need?" She hadn't the slightest idea as to where to begin.
Ike stood just behind Reid and to the side, like some kind of white fluffy body guard.

"Fear my boobies?" Chao ventured and followed after, scanning around. "I haven't the foggiest, aren't I supposed to follow you anyway?" She glanced back at the boys and laughed quietly at Ike's posistion behind her son, "sunglasses perhaps...? Maybe a walkie talkie?"
Reid couldn't help smiling at his friend's somber expression. He glowed warmly, shirt lighting up, and tugged his friend inside, pausing to look around curiously.

Rabid looked back at the boys and laughed warmly, "Sure, why not? C'mon." She glanced around for a moment before setting off in the direction of a clothing store. Only 50% of Vavvians dressed in "normal" clothes. The rest ran around in costumes and such. The rumor was that there was some gask leak beneath the city, making for a crazy bunch of people.
Ike followed inside, proud of himself and smiling, but not making light of his job.
"I wan' get moo-zack," Ike said to nobody in particular as he removed Skelly from his pocket and hugged the plushie in a totally un-body-guard-like way. He watched Mummy walk away and smiled to Reid.
"Less go shawp."
Poe sat happily in Master's arms, peering around. Sudenly, he spotted another small brown Kyn, and it was staring at him from within the metal walls. He swatted at it and growled a bit (although it was more of a legato squeaking). His claws met the other Kyn's though. They were so hard! He whimpered and shrank back, snuggling into Master's chest.
Next time, Demon-Kyn. Next time...

Reid smiled happily as he recognized the plushie as the one he'd given Ike and nodded, "mhm, lessgo," and followed after the two woman.
Chao watched the Poe's small squirmish with his own reflection with a smile, she looked to Rabid, "does he do that often?"

"Oh, yeah," Rabid shook her head and rolled her eyes, "Poe ain't too bright. AHA!" She walked into the clothing store and motioned around, "Let's play a little...dress-up. Take your pick. I'll meet you in the changing room, alrighty?" She smiled mischieviously and winked before scampering off into the children's clothing section and beginning to pick various costumes off of the (surprise, surprise) metallic racks, Poe still nestled in the crook of her arm.
Ike's ears folded back. He didn't like Mummy's expression.
"We's in trouble, ain't we, Reid?"

Chao laughed warmly and nodded, heading into the children's section as well, poking around each of the sections before she began to take things off the rack.
Reid nodded slowly, "yes. Lessgo escape?"

"Yuh. Less--" Ike then spotted Mummy run off to the big room on the side and motion for him to come, "Oh no...we stuck..." His ears folded back as he grabbed Reid by the hand and dragged him behind. Sure, he was curious, but he was also quite afraid.
Rabid hung the costumes along the far wall of the dressing room, her group including a giant lightbulb and neon red silk.
Man, her people were weird.
"Chaoooo," Rabid said in a singsong voice, "Could you be a dear and grab my bag? I believe I left something important and flashy in there!"
Poe scampered over to Master's bag and toppled it over, attempting in vain to drag it to the changing room.
Demon-bag! You're in with the other one, AREN'T YOU?!
