That's why I'm a part of the ASPCA, instead. :3 I've not heard of much shifty business; they truly try to help from what I've seen.

I worked for the Humane Society US San Diego branch and I liked what they were doing. They spent upwards of two million dollars on the shelter they use now. I swear I was jealous of those animals. It's like a luxury pet hotel. They have couches in the dog areas and hammocks for the cats, for one. Excellent food and really good care. They work very hard to adopt out every animal and it's no-kill.

Auf brings up another point:
I've been told that PETA is against no-kill shelters. The reasoning for this stance is round about, from what I've read...
Note: I didn't read all of the links for lack of time, so if this was mentioned, simply pretend I'm drawing attention to it. : D

I worked there, too, and man it really was like a hotel. They had a couple of dog rooms with a TV running those programs for canines, and even the quarantine room was comfortable. The facility they replaced with the new one was pretty stark so I'm glad they forked over such a huge amount of money.
There was a PETA scandal a few years ago where they picked up a large amount of animals from a shelter and euthanised them en masse in the van. They claimed they knew the animals would die anyway and felt there was no harm. The travesty lies mostly in the fact that they were healthy and most would have been adopted out given time.

C.h.e.s.h.i.r.e Okay, hold on a second I am PRO ABORTION!!! I would give up my unborn baby to save the lives of all of those poor monkeys in Africa. We don't need anymore sixteen, seventeen year old girls running around all over the place... and have you ever thought about some of the good stuff PETA does and is involved in? Sure maybe they have a few screwed up ideas but think about the good stuff.

It is, I got my cat from there. My parents got one of theirs, too.
I agree with you about PETA pissing people off. I hate it when people use shock tactics and violence to make a point. Nobody ever listens to that crap, they listen to kindness and understanding.

Well, PeTA absolutely sucks. There is no way around it. I wrote a whole essay on them for english and what I learned blew my mind. They put out false ideas and tell people that they are horrible for keeping pets. Miss Newkirk, a Rat is NOT a Pig is NOT a Dog is NOT a Boy. Welcome to genetics 101.
I used to like PeTA. I used to want my parents to donate to PeTA. Now I really hope they never did.
I'm sick of PeTA giving such a bad name to animal activists everywhere. And they're little President is an absolute abomination. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but she wants to kill all pit bulls.
See, if I were more of a b***h, I'd ask for the people who gave birth to her to be sterilized, and for Miss Ingrid Newkirk put on display at a zoo for further studies into her insane little mind.
(PeTA and me obviously dun mesh. Sorry if my little rant offended anyone or anything. But seriously... HATE THEM. -dies-)
