Would there be a list anywhere of different types
of witches and classifications there are?
I'm interested in learning about them.
Thank you kindly. ^_^
Witches are just witches - there really aren't any "classifications" or "types". While some witches may focus on specific aspects of crafting, they are still all witches. Some books try to color code it, but truthfully that's just a bunch of crap.
The reason I asked this is because I have a friend who
is a Hedge witch. She also told me that there are different kinds
of witches and different focuses, but I wouldn't know any at all since
I am just beginning.
Well anyways thank you for the earlier response. ^_^
Sorry... I had a somewhat different take on what you were asking.
sweatdrop There still isn't a comprehensive list, even when one googles it, most of the lists include Traditions rather than "types". Really the only labels that have any common usage are...
Hedge Witches: witches that "walk the hedges" - their focus is trance work, astral travel, journeying, etc...
Kitchen Witches: even within this category there is not a consensus definition, since to some it is strictly food related and to others it encompass practical magic for "hearth and home"
Green Witches: witches that focus on plant based magic, herbs, helping the environment, etc...

She said that she would help me find my religion in Wicca.
There are quite a few people who use the words "Wicca" and "Witchcraft" interchangeably, but they are not the same. While all Wiccans are Witches, not all Witches are Wiccan. Wicca in and of itself is a religion, with very specific core practices and beliefs. While there are various Traditions (Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Central Valley, Mohsian, and some Kingston, and BlueStar lines), there aren't different "types" of Wicca (despite what some books out there might say).
One can be a Hedge Witch and be Wiccan, but they are separate practices. If you are really interested in Wicca I suggest joining the
Amber and Jet and
Beginning Wicca yahoo groups and reading through their archives. Both have a huge wealth of information for those that are Seekers.
