You are welcome. What horrible is I noticed they only have about 3 more years worth of dates. I hope they update it, I'd be so lost without that site.

I was wondering how can you tell what element are you? I am sorta new at this sweatdrop
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 5:54 am

No one is any one particular element (unless they are out of balance). Each of us is made up of all of the elements. In neo-pagan terms Earth, Air, Fire Water make up that which is our Spirit. We (for various reasons) may feel more connected to one element over another, but it doesn't mean that we "are" that element to the exclusion of the others.

There are all sorts of novelty "quizes" and what not you take that will tell you "your element", but they are just for fun.

I think a better way is to develop a good understanding of the elements first, then work introspectively to determine the answer to that, iSandbox. All the elements quizzes I have taken over time each have strengths and weaknesses in terms of how they approach the subject and no one of them do I consider to be definitive. Part of this is because interpretations of the elements themselves vary, ergo so does attributing human personality traits or behaviors to elements. One of the better ones, however, can be found in Deborah Lipp's "Way of Four;" many of the online ones are done by people with a rather superficial understanding of the elements. You should be able to find a copy of this book in a larger chain bookstore like Borders; you can just sit in and do the quiz there if you don't want to buy the book.

Where are the signatures? I only knew how to get there from the message you sent me saying that my request was accepted and stuff. Though since I accidentally deleted it I can't find where to find the signatures for this guild. Help?

Honestly it's not something that can be taught over the internet. If you have specific questions about things that you are reading you can ask in the main forums and we'll all be happy to put our 2 cents in, but as to actual teaching it requires face to face instruction (and in the case of Traditional Wicca, actually requires initiation into a lineaged coven). If you are looking for groups in your area you can check Witchvox, but you will need to check each group carefully, because many will claim to be "wiccan", when they are more of an eclectic variety. Which doesn't mean that they aren't great groups, but if what you are looking for is Wicca specific, it can make a big difference.

Would there be a list anywhere of different types
of witches and classifications there are?
I'm interested in learning about them.
Thank you kindly. ^_^

Witches are just witches - there really aren't any "classifications" or "types". While some witches may focus on specific aspects of crafting, they are still all witches. Some books try to color code it, but truthfully that's just a bunch of crap.

The reason I asked this is because I have a friend who
is a Hedge witch. She said that she would help me find my
religion in Wicca. She also told me that there are different kinds
of witches and different focuses, but I wouldn't know any at all since
I am just beginning.

Well anyways thank you for the earlier response. ^_^

Sorry... I had a somewhat different take on what you were asking. sweatdrop

There still isn't a comprehensive list, even when one googles it, most of the lists include Traditions rather than "types". Really the only labels that have any common usage are...

Hedge Witches: witches that "walk the hedges" - their focus is trance work, astral travel, journeying, etc...

Kitchen Witches: even within this category there is not a consensus definition, since to some it is strictly food related and to others it encompass practical magic for "hearth and home"

Green Witches: witches that focus on plant based magic, herbs, helping the environment, etc...

There are quite a few people who use the words "Wicca" and "Witchcraft" interchangeably, but they are not the same. While all Wiccans are Witches, not all Witches are Wiccan. Wicca in and of itself is a religion, with very specific core practices and beliefs. While there are various Traditions (Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Central Valley, Mohsian, and some Kingston, and BlueStar lines), there aren't different "types" of Wicca (despite what some books out there might say).

One can be a Hedge Witch and be Wiccan, but they are separate practices. If you are really interested in Wicca I suggest joining the Amber and Jet and Beginning Wicca yahoo groups and reading through their archives. Both have a huge wealth of information for those that are Seekers.
