Is this going to be a Forgotten Realms-based campaign? Or are we just going to eliminate the whole background portion of the character creation process?

I do believe it's just going to be your standard DnD

Nice to hear you're interested Desi.

As for your question, you can make a basic backstory if you want, but the campaign is probably going to be more hodgepodge until I get a real feel for something you guys might like.

Keep in mind back-stories give me something to draw from to pull people to the cause.

Oh, and if you're gonna play Paladin, I'd recommend Melee Training for your first feat so you can keep your defense high and attack high as well. Melee Training basically lets you choose whatever stat you want to attack from, including Charisma.

I swear the Intelligence Blademaster feat for Genasi makes swordmages awesome in offense.

Well I meant like...in Forgotten Realms when you choose a home region, you gain specific bonuses based on that region.

S'fine though.

What's the rules for making characters? Starting level and gold?
PostPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2009 7:23 pm

Everyone starts at Level 1.

I'm being generous and giving everyone 200 Gold to start with.

...Consider it hazard pay for if I have to up the difficulty. xd

Roll for stats or just do the point array thing?
PostPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2009 7:39 pm

I'd go for the point array, personally. That's what I did with my character, and then we arranged some things a little bit.

If you want to go paladin, I'd look into the skills, and which stats you want to be highest for your modifiers on skills.

EDIT: And as I said before, I'd look into Melee Training for one of your first feats so that you can still do damage instead of just taking it.

I'm DLing the books, but it's been a while since I played, so does anyone want to give me a quick "DUN DO THAT N00B" list?
PostPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2009 7:43 pm

I'm not sure what you mean.

I've already kinda got a basic layout in mind.

Sweet.

Ok guys, I'm actually headed out the door to go and play my RL campaign right now with my friends. If you guys have questions, post them in here, and I'll do my best to answer them when I get back.

Remember to try and talk with yourselves to determine a working mix of characters for a party.

Later.

Lol Hell yes.

I'm bringing a rowboat.

Two points:

-You should really outline what sources you're okay with people using, and all the starting level/gold/pointbuy information on the first post. Make this a LOT easier for everyone involved.

-If we're going on point-buy, how many points?

With Dessi going pally I'm thinking of dishing up another fighter or something to compliment him on the defender end, especially if Vin doesn't go with the swordmage. I think those are defenders.

On the other hand, trying something new is always rewarding. And while I am not really that excited to go through the process of learning how rituals/magic works in 4e, I'd still have plenty of options that wouldn't require it. Heck, I could probably even dish up a paladin of a different god if I wanted.

I do like the fact that 4e gives you paladins of gods instead of paladins of LAWFUL GOOD.

How's everyone feel about either a druid or a cleric. Either one suits me.
