Dorian smiled at Shade's new acceptance and even.....was that a hint of excitement?.....to go up for their date. He had to say, he enjoyed that the little imp was more at ease with him in the very least. But as the imp became more comfortable, it seemed that Verdant was growing more and more hesitant. Dorian frowned softly, and placed a reassuring hand at Verdant's back rubbing the small of his spine soothingly.
"I promise you pet, all will be well. Ah, the elevator's here, let's get on with it then, hm?" he smiled happily, quite content in his standings as of right now. He had to lovely, sweet young men by his sides, and in the back of his mind he was congratulating himself on such a feat. Even at his age, he could still charm the pants off of a monk if he tried, and it boosted his ego a bit. Leading the pair into the elevator, it was a short, uneventful trip to the top, well.....if you counted Dorian crowding the two beside him in the corner so he could nibble on Ver's neck to make his troubles go away while gripping Shade's waist possessively uneventful. While he didn't nibble on Shade, he was a bit forthcoming in copping a feel of the young imp's backside, then feinting it off as a slip of the hand, putting it back firmly on his waist with a 'oops, was that me?' look of amusement on his features.
When the doors opened, the concierge smiled at the familiar face of Dorian Cromwell, and graciously led them to Dorian's old usual spot. It was a romantic table on the terrace floor, which was the revolving section of the restaurant (since not everyone likes to rotate while they're eating), and as the windows were tinted today, the chandeliers were dimmed above all the tables to create a romantic mid-day ambiance. Upstairs on this level was decorated much in the same opulence as below, and Dorian smiled and waved at the concierge as he departed, pulling out each of the chairs for Verdant and Shade graciously, motioning for them to sit.
"Come now, my dears, no need to be shy now, please, sit," he smiled warmly, practically beaming with pride as some of the older regulars that knew of him and his.....less than celibate ways, marveled at how he managed to ensnare TWO lovers instead of one this time. Though the good doctor didn't ignore the glaring heat from a particular woman over in the corner, seated closer to the ballroom floor in the central stationary area than he and his two little birds were. All in all, he felt she'd be a problem that needed to be dealt with eventually today, but at least he saw everyone was in mostly plain clothes. Plain clothes that looked like they were designer plain clothes, but still, quite a few of them were in designer t-shirts and jeans just like him. It would make his two lovelies feel a little better at least, or he hoped so.

Verdant sighed deeply and smiled at Dorian's reassurance. Hell, what was he so afraid of, anyways? He'd worn less clothing to buy groceries, more clothing to buy a CD, and sometimes wore nothing at all- but, well, those moments weren't up for discussion in public. Maybe he was just worried of embarrassing Dorian; the last thing he wanted to do was embarrass him in front of his colleagues and the regulars at the restaurant. Well, whatever had been his reasoning, he no longer felt any hesitation and followed behind Dorian and Shade, happily taking his place at the older man's side. Shade seemed to be doing well with Dorian; things were going swimmingly!
By the time the elevator doors opened, Verdant had thoroughly fondled his two lovers and now stood in the corner with a wide grin on his face and a deep blush; Dorian sure knew how to press that nymph's buttons...
Verdant took his new surroundings with awe; this restaurant was even more beautiful than he had imagined! Everything looked so romantic, so lovely, he couldn't help but swoon a little bit. Why, Dorian had even pulled out their chairs for them- damn, did Verdant know how to pick his men or what? He thanked the good doctor and smiled, still looking around with an air of amusement. True to Dorian's word, most people were dressed in plain clothing, though he could tell that nobody had gotten clothing at the thrift store or anything like that. Still, he supposed that it gave him a bit of an edge; he'd made his own clothing, it was original, it was good to stand out now, wasn't it? He had been silly to worry so much!
"Dorian, Carew Tower is beautiful; thank you for bringing us here." The nymph smiled once more before looking around for the third time. A quizzical expression crossed his face for a moment before he turned back to Dorian. "Um... why is that woman over there staring at you like a vulture eyeing a particularly delicious piece of carrion?"

Shade smiled as he saw Verdant calming down, happy to see that the nymph was growing more comfortable. He himself was feeling much better and was looking forward to the date - it was a new experience for him, and for once, he wasn't too nervous.
As he entered the elevator, he felt Dorian's arm around his waist. The gesture caused the teenager's face to light up like a ripe cherry. The color only grew darker as he felt the hand on his rear, which caused him to squeak a little. The impling couldn't tell whether or not it had been intentional, but he was blushing either way. Not that he didn't like it - he just seemed to get embarrassed by such situations rather easily.
Shade found himself looking around again as they stepped out of the elevator, his curiosity returning to him as he glanced about at his new surroundings. It was, well, amazing! He'd never been in such an extravagant place before! Well, not unless he counted that one time at the ball...that had been pretty damn fancy too.
The boy found himself blushing as Dorian pulled out the chairs for him and Verdant and quickly thanked the older man as well as he sat down. Just as Dorian had said, everyone here was dressed pretty casually, which meant fitting in wouldn't be a problem at all. He nodded in agreement with Verdant's statement - beautiful was definitely a good word for this place.
"Yeah, it's really cool..." Was cool a good thing to say? He wasn't sure and he supposed it didn't matter - he was enjoying himself anyway. The boy looked over as Verdant mentioned a woman staring and blinked a few times - perhaps it was someone who knew Dorian? Shade didn't really care too much, so long as it wasn't someone who was looking to cause trouble. 'Maybe she just thinks Dorian's hot...' Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Both the doctor and Verdant were pretty attractive...

Dorian sat and looked over at said woman "eyeing him like a piece of carrion" and then looked pleasantly back to Ver. It was endearing that the nymph was so jealous over such a small thing, but Dorian supposed it was only natural. Their relationship WAS brand new and all, not to mention Ver was a little bit of the lustfull posessive type, not that the mad doctor minded that, he thrived on it really. Finally, a libido that could match his without making him feel too utterly guilty the next day. Someone he could actually wake up with in the morning, no less, instead of booting out that same night. His face darkened for a flash second as the usual guilt he felt over betraying she who had claim over him first, but he banished it with a quick fake smile so neither of his lovelies would catch it. Getting back to the matter at hand, he made a dismissive waving gesture towards the woman in question and took Verdant's hand affectionately and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"Just an old bit of trash that refuses to take herself out, no matter how clear I've made it I want nothing more from her," he smiled, being so cold and clinical about the matter that it was borderline disturbing. Never in the world was there likely to be anyone more detached from his vibrant sexlife than Dorian Cromwell. But he wasn't going to be like that with Ver or Shade, if the situation ever even arose with Shade. Which as of right now didn't seem likely, since Shade was like the side salad that you really weren't in the mood for, and Verdant was the juicy steak sitting right in front of you as the main course. Taunting you. Shaking its pretty arse right in front of your nose but knowing you can't have it until there are less people watching or when you feel like skipping out on a meeting......no. He couldn't think that way. He wasn't allowed to skip any more meetings just because he didn't want to go and probably knew the information they were going over already. But still.....it gnawed at his very soul that little Shade had sampled the schmorgesboard that was Verdant's body while Dorian had only had a few nibbles.
It was like an anorexic eating a fat kid's cake. RIGHT. IN. FRONT. OF. HIM. It was just wrong, and he was plotting how to remedy the situation, even while Verdant was worrying about said vulture woman. He was plesantly surprised that Shade seemed alright with it though, glad that the boy wasn't so immediately clingy like most children his age in relationships, growing instantly jealous and in love with a person they'd just met. Like the imp had with HIS nymph. Damn the little teenager. In all honesty, Dorian felt no real animosity towards Shade, though he was insanely jealous, which were two different things entirely even if they were in the same family tree.

Verdant nodded his head in understanding at Dorian's acerbic remark, sneaking a glance back at the woman that had brought on such spite from the doctor. The nymph, though he showed no signs of any discomfort or displeasure, began to grow a bit... concerned about Dorian's words. Would Dorian one day refer to him in such a manner? Would he feel the same way about Shade and Verdant, dismiss them as soon as they no longer held any interest to him? Needless to say, the very thought was enough to upset him, but, strange as the gesture was for Verdant, feeling so insecure was just one of his peculiar ways of showing how much someone meant to him; the fact was that Verdant was jealous of that woman, for he was certain that Dorian had slept with her and had yet to sleep with him. It only saddened Verdant more to realize that Dorian must be feeling the same way about Shade. Verdant wanted to tell Dorian that it was he who had made the first move, he who wanted the relationship with Shade in the first place, that there was no need for him to feel so jealous. For God's sake, Verdant wanted Dorian as much as he wanted Shade; if there weren't so many people, he'd have his way with both of them right there on top of the freakin' table, but he wasn't in the mood for spending an eternity in the slammer, so he kept it in his pants... for now. Verdant would be waking up in Dorian's bed tomorrow morning, of that he was very certain.
Of course, that was later. Right now, here in the restaurant, there was something Verdant needed to take care of. Dorian may have rebuked that woman over by the ballroom floor, but here she was, still trying to take him- but now she was trying to take Dorian away from him. The doctor was not wrong when he had pegged Verdant as the lustful possessive type and he never went down without a fight- and he was also a firm believer in that actions spoke louder than words, which is exactly why he broke his vow to never snog with anyone, regardless of the situation, and pulled Dorian into one of the most passionate kisses he could remember ever giving. For the sake of any children in the room, he used his hair to veil his actions, though that hand rubbing the inside of Dorian's thigh probably wasn't that easily hidden.

Here Dorian was. Quietly enjoying his time with Shade and Verdant, mostly ignoring his inner jealousy over Shade getting first dibs, and WHAM!
Verdant hit him like a hormone-induced 18-wheeler. It was kinda spontanious and fun though, so Dorian just growled deep in his throat, a pleasurable rumbling sound muffled by Verdant, and swung his arm around the nymph's neck while running his other hand through his hair to push it back so EVERYBODY could see how passionate he and Verdant were. Especially Shade. He wanted to steak his claim right here and now that he fully intended for Ver to be his FIRST. No matter if Shade had been with Ver or not, Dorian would be the one to reign supreme in the relationship. But to distract him from his devious thoughts, he had Verdant's hand pleasantly rubbing his inner thigh, which did nothing to help the doctor curb his lust for the nymph. That he was so incredibly willing made it that much harder not to get himself thrown in jail for going at it in public. Though he HAD gotten away with it before......no. He couldn't do that with Shade here, the kid would only get him and Verdant into trouble. It was like having an untrained puppy around two dogs in heat.
Diving just as passionately into the kiss as Verdant, Dorian swung his leg over so he was sitting on Verdant's lap, running his hands down the nymph's neck and chest contently. Breaking away only because he felt the need to breathe, he found himself gasping for air for the first time in a long time from anything as simple as a kiss. It was a warm feeling actually, and he practically glowed with pleasure as he looked to Verdant, then looked over his shoulder at the vulture he was sure this spectacle was for. Giving her the iciest smile he could manage and a hard glare that got the message of 'drop dead, nobody here wants you anymore' across quite clearly. As he leaned down to start kissing and nibbling on Verdant's neck again, determined to give him a hickey the size of Texas, he didn't notice the woman stomping over to confront Ver for taking what she thought was hers. Poor poor delusional woman.
As Dorian was happily busy with Ver's neck, the woman got to their table with a look of utter fury on her features and cleared her throat to get the doctor's attention, to which he lazily and VERY reluctantly pulled away from his nymph to look at her with unmasked boredom and annoyance.
"Can I help you Anita, or can you not tell I'm on a date? You know how much I hate discussing work when I'm off duty...." he drawled languidly, taking some measure of inner pleasure at the fact that he could keep someone crawling over glass for more of him no matter how badly he treated them. And Anita had been treated badly when he'd lost interest in her. Mostly because she'd dared to bring up the fact that he never let her stay the night and it was high time he forgot about Marianna. It had incurred a hatred in Dorian so strong that he snapped every time she dared to speak to him at work. She'd even been moved to another sector of development altogether because of it. But she didn't waver, she just stood there shaking in her own quiet fury.
She wasn't unattractive really, platinum blond hair up in a pleasantly unkempt bun with tendrils hanging down here and there, clear blue eyes that while pretty were quite generic for her coloring, and pale pale skin that had most men fumbling over themselves at the chance to touch it. All in all, she was textbook barbie material, and quite frankly not nearly unique enough for Dorian to take much notice of her besides giving a small nod to how intelligent she could be. But even that was dwarfed by many of their other coworkers. Anita had simply gotten the job over other less pretty applicants because the boss wanted eye-candy sashaying around work.
"What is THIS Dorian? You may call it a date, but you're really only going to shag him and be done with it. You only ever keep the boys around your apartment for one night, don't even lie, what you NEED is a good woman around the house. Honestly, do you think changing to the opposite gender is going to remedy your complex over Marianna? Please, don't fool yourself. You and I BOTH know if you'd only let me back into your life because of that one mistake I made, you'd be over that long-dead corpse by now and be happily celebrating our one year anniversary........did he tell you little boy, that we were together for seven months? It's only been about five months since we broke up really. All because he felt he was replacing his precious little "Anna" because of that hunk of junk doll of his back home reminded him that they didn't need a new 'mother'. They're going to scrap Claudia's project too you know, and then what will you do without a woman's presence in the house? You should know by now that they won't be able to take Marianna's place, and you'll always end up alone if you don't come back to the person who actually cares about you, drugs and all." she hissed angrily, making sure to hit every sore point with Dorian she could to make him waver just enough to come running back when he saw the sense in her words. But unfortunately for her, what she'd failed to learn from her past mistakes is that pointing out his character flaws and mourning nature for Marianna as WELL as threatenining Claudia only made him a very mad papa. She turned to Ver and smiled wickedly, cocking her head.
"But I bet he hasn't let you in enough to be honest with you about the drug spells and the nightmares about her, has he? Give it up, you have no place in his world."
Looking at Verdant's lap, his face shadowed by his hair, Dorian abruptly stood up and gave her the most beaming gentlemanly and polite smile he could muster, but his eyes radiated a cold fire that if one got too close to it it would freeze them completely until they shattered like fragile ice.
"You're right, Anita. Remind me to talk to the superior director at the meeting today to make sure that you're fired for harassment and misuse of company funds for all those escorts you rent to try and make me jalous," he smiled pleasantly, to which he promptly slapped her soundly across the face, his own features turning dark and cruel as he continued to stare at her. He was looming over her almost and to all onlookers it appeared as if he was going to murder her quite literally right there.

Verdant moved back in his chair, giving Dorian some room to get comfortable in his lap. Hell, this date was just getting better and better, now wasn't it? He was in the company of a libidinous doctor and a cute teen, he was in a fancy restaurant, and hey, he was gonna get some tail later tonight! What could possibly ruin this evening?
Well, maybe that furious platinum blonde bimbo that was approaching the table could...
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Who the hell did this b***h think she was? How dare she even bring up Marianna?! If Verdant couldn't, if it hurt Dorian so much for the topic to even be brought up in passing, how DARE she act like she had any right to talk about her, refer to her as "that long-dead corpse"?! Then speaking of Claudia so... Jesus, ********! This whore was asking to get her a** handed to her! He almost got up out of his seat to say something incredibly rude and witty when he heard her speak again. Drug spells? Verdant turned to Dorian with something bewteen confusion and disappointment in his expression. "Dorian, is she..."
Then SLAP! and Anita was no longer quite as confident or angry, just very, very scared. Verdant got up and planted himself firmly between Dorian and the b***h. He pushed the doctor back, held him back really, and glared venomously at the stupid, stupid woman who was so clearly obsessed, not in love, obsessed with his Dorian. HIS Dorian.
"No. No, he hasn't told me about the drug spells. He hasn't told me about the nightmares, he hasn't let me in enough to know about that just yet." His voice was a bit shaky, but otherwise calm and composed. He was furious, anyone could see that, but what was the point of screaming and yelling? This was a matter between the four of them, though the room had gone silent enough for even the people seated in the farthest table from them could hear his words clear as day. "You're the one who has no place in our world." He reached back and held Dorian's hand tightly for emphasis. "You can be as spiteful and rude towards me, I could care less, but don't you ever speak of them that way. You are nobody, you are nothing, just an insignificant speck." He let go of Dorian shortly, just so he could walk up to Anita and stare down at her diminutive frame. Her eyes met his vindictive gaze and Verdant found himself imagining a serpent glaring at its helpless prey, a rat immobilized by the fear of its impending demise. "You are nobody, you are nothing. Don't you dare pretend like you mean something to Dorian because you don't. I'm his lover now, not you, so get over it- and yourself. Now get out of here before I really lose my temper." To be truly honest, Verdant couldn't possibly get any angrier; hell, this was a whole new level of rage for him.
Not caring to see whether or not Anita left, Verdant pulled Dorian back into his lap, his arms wrapped gently around him. He rested his head on the doctor's shoulder, his mind already turning back to what Anita had said about the drugs and nightmares. Was she just saying those things to piss them off? Oh, how he prayed that was the case...
In all the turmoil, Shade had been completely ignored. Verdant glanced over to him and reach out, placing his hand on Shade's. He gave it a tight squeeze and smiled weakly; he was going to make it up to Shade and Dorian for causing them so much trouble, somehow.

Needless to say, Shade didn't know what to do when Dorian and Verdant basically began making out at the table. His face immediately went red and, after a moment, he glanced off to the side. He shouldn't stare, right? The impling figured that it wouldn't be very polite if he did...it was hard to ignore though, especially when Dorian began messing around with the nymph's neck. It didn't appear as though they were having any problems, however.
The boy blinked and looked over as he heard someone come over to the table - he quickly spotted the woman who'd been watching Dorian earlier. She didn't look happy either. What happened next could only be described by Shade as one of the most awkward 'conversations' that he'd ever sat through. It went from awkward to disturbing however, as this woman tried to convince Dorian to be with her - she was obsessed! He didn't particularly know much about what Anita was talking about, but things were obviously getting personal. This became quite apparent when she mentioned a woman by the name Marianna - was that the person that Dorian hadn't wanted them to talk about? He didn't dare ask.
It appeared that Verdant was mad now as well...and the impling couldn't remember /EVER/ seeing him mad before now. Then again, both him and Dorian had more than enough reason to be ticked, what with what Anita had been saying. Shade, however, was left rather speechless - he hadn't seen a conflict like this since his parents had been together, though those encounters had been much more...physical. He just hoped that this one wouldn't get like that.
Finally, Verdant sat back down, and the impling was a little surprised when he felt the nymph's hand on his. He hadn't thought that Verdant would risk showing him any form of affection while out in public, but apparently he'd been proven wrong. Shade returned Verdant's smile, though he tried to make his a little stronger than the nymph's - clearly, he was upset, as was Dorian. So much for all of this being relaxing. He couldn't think of anything that he could say to make it better either...

Dorian didn't know what to say, he was still furious, regardless of Verdant's open affection and concern. Turning his head ever so slightly, he peered over at Shade. What could the boy possibly be thinking at this point? If the shoes were on Dori's feet, he knew he'd be bolting by now, considering himself and Verdant far too much drama to have to put up with. Though perhaps that was his jealousy popping up again, since part of him really DID want Shade gone. A little boy had no business trying to be in a grown-up relationship. One of the three of them was sure to get ignored constantly, and Dorian knew it sure as hell wouldn't be him if he had anything to say about it.
And yet the boy looked at such a loss, so confused and bewildered, that Dorian's paternal instinct to care for him kicked in. Sitting up slowly and leaning over, he brushed some hair out of Shade's face, tucking it behind his ear. Cocking his head a little, his eyes seemed to ask 'Are you alright?' to the imp. Bah. Curse the father in him that made him want to take care of others. He couldn't even handle his OWN life, let alone theirs. Who was he fooling in all of this? With a sigh, he looked up to the ceiling, glancing over to notice that Anita had retreated all the way out of the restaurant. That was good. He wouldn't have to hear from her again.....oh wait, they had a group meeting later, didn't they? Damn.
As his thoughts turned to the meeting, he grew even more somber. Today would be a bad day, because the boss had mentioned Claudia SPECIFICALLY. He didn't know how Claudia had come up, but one of his friends and coworkers had warned him he'd be going over something about her today. It didn't sound great, but maybe it was? You never knew, he HAD proposed a few radical ideas.......maybe they'd gotten approved by some miracle? You never knew at meetings. Usually lots of things were covered, and the team jumped from one topic to the next with reckless abandon as if they WEREN'T affecting the lives of millions with what they accomplished everyday.
The waiter had come over while he was thinking, and looked at the three oddly, giving Dorian an out with one of those 'man looks' where you know someone will cover for you if you'd like to just bolt. With a soft sigh, he ruffled in his pocket and pulled out a key, sliding it into Verdant's hand and closing his hand around it, giving the nymph a peck on the cheek.
"Mmm. It's about time I left for that meeting.....I'm sorry our time was cut short by that insufferable witch........here's the apartment key I promised, Marius will let me in later, so don't worry. Feel free to go back to my place if you want, I'll be home sometime later this evening. Probably around six, the driver will take you wherever you want to go, work is close enough that I can walk," he said, more tired sounding than anything else. Nodding to the waiter, the man bowed and knew to place anything the two ordered onto Dorian's account which was on file. With that, the doctor took Shade's hand, gave it a quick kiss, stood, and kissed Verdant one last time before walking towards the elevator.
((Do you guys want to wrap this up? I feel like I'm really behind as far as timelines go for Dorian. oAo;; Everyone else is so far ahead and I'm waaaaay back here. ))

Shade's attention turned to Dorian as he felt a hand pushing some of the hair out of his face. Figuring out what the older man was wondering, Shade nodded a little. It wasn't as though he hadn't dealt with drama before - he could do that. He'd just have to adjust. Things had been fairly quiet with him and his mother for the past 7 years, aside from the boy's school issues. The next time something like this happened, he'd try to help...he wasn't sure how much help a 16-year-old would be able to give a couple of adults, but he could sure as hell try, right?
Shade blushed slightly as Dorian kissed his hand after saying his farewells. "I h-hope that...your meeting goes well." the boy said as the doctor began heading towards the elevator. He sincerely hoped that the rest of Dorian's day would be more pleasant - that woman had upset him so much! Maybe something good would happen to take the man's mind off of it though - the impling could only hope.
The boy turned, looking back to Verdant with a worried expression. "Are you...okay?" Anita had upset the nymph too, Shade knew that. He couldn't blame Verdant for getting angry either, really - that woman had seemed like she was a few bolts loose to him. Actually, she'd been a little scary, really...
((I'm fine with it, if everyone else is cool with it. :3 Seems like a good idea, since Dorian's left and such. Perhaps we could discuss what we'd all like to do next?))
