"Oh that's pretty! Where'd you find it Kallan? Oh! Thanks for showing me...um..." She blushed, "I don't know your name..."
Dahlia frowned, "That's right. We don't know your name..."
"Maybe she's not ready to give it..." Kallan offered.

"Kaida," she muttered, flushing a bit. She hadn't realized she'd forgotten to give them their name.

"That's pretty!" Zaraya repeated it a couple of times, "Kaida Kaida, Now to remember that."
Dahlia laughed, "You're goofy, Zar."
Kallan's smiled mimicked his sisters, "It's nice. Does it mean anything special?"

She shrugged a little bit. "I think it means little dragon, but I don't know," she murmured, shyly. These were such nice people.

"That's cool!" Zaraya and Dahlia chimed in together.
"Dragon...That's suiting." Kallan poked a window in a tall tower and started cleaning it up.

"It is?" she cocked her head slightly, confused and startled by the declaration. She had never really thought much of her name, let alone whether or not it suited her. Absently, she put the shell back in the pattern, where she felt it belonged.

"Well yeah," Dahlia used a shell to make a sand garden area outside of the moat for the castle. "Names are important. Some are chosen specifically for what they mean."
Zaraya nodded. "Mommy named me Zaraya because it's the name of a priestess of water who watched over warriors in battle...I think."
"And sometimes name meanings can give us an idea about ourselves." Kallan's voice was quiet. He was concentrating on the window very hard now, and a small stream of water came up to help him smooth the inside of the window.

Kaida settled down to watch them work as she thought about what they had said. She didn't know who had named her, or why. She just remembered what her name was. Had it been random, or was there a specific reason she was named a little dragon? She wasn't one, she was a little kirin. What could she learn from her name?
"What do Dahlia and Kallan mean?" she asked, curious. Maybe knowing that would help her figure this out.

"Dahlia is a flower. It grows in the hot weather and is hardy. Just like me." Dahlia smiled brightly, not realizing just how much like the flower she really was.
"Kallan means flowing water. I don't know how much like my name I am...but I suppose no one other than Dahlia really knows anything like that."
Zaraya laughed, "Dahlia thinks she knows everything."
"Do not..." Came a sulky reply.

"You...don't know everything or don't think you do?" Kaida asked Dahlia, curiously. She was finding the three of them increasingly fascinating.

"I don't think I know everything." Dahlia replied.
"But she acts like she does!" Zaraya snickered. "Sometimes she talks like she's the dictionary of magical spells."
Kallan shrugged, "No one knows everything though. There's always something to learn."

Kaida's gaze bounced between the siblings as she listened. She decided she learned more by letting them talk than speaking herself. Besides, it was more fun to watch them conversing than trying to figure out how to respond to them.

"Well duh, Kallan. Of course no one knows everything." Dahlia rolled her eyes. "If they did, they'd be bored all the time."
Kallan snorted. "Then it's a wonder you aren't bored."
Zaraya's giggling rose up from behind the group. "Dahlia just got told!" She managed between giggles in a sing song voice.

Kaida allowed herself a small smile. Yup, these three were fun to watch. She settled down more comfortably, partly wondering if they'd remember she was there, and partly hoping they didn't. She felt like a scientist observing a newly discovered breed of ponies in their natural habitat. It was kind of fun.

"Zaraya..." Dahlia glared at her fiercely, "I'll turn you into a toad!""
Zaraya laughed and pulled out a wand. "You'll try!"
A low grumble came out of Kallan as he stood up and doused them both with some water. "You're disturbing the peace of my sand kingdom."
