And his line was crossed. Even in his drained, defeated state, Kaosu could not tolerate hearing about his old wounds. They were his Pandora's Box. A hurt? Never fully heal? Usually, he would have snapped on her. Instead he simply straightened up and turned away, as though he intended to leave.
"Indeed. Never is a very, very long time," he agreed quietly. "No one knows how Fate functions. If we do meet again, hopefully we can talk about less pretentious things." He could not hate this Essentic. She... was confident in herself. In others. Something most of the brats he had encountered could not manage.
"I don't rationalize," he retorted almost immaturely. Liar. "But... if that the case... I don't think that request will be too hard." Liar again. He did not dare think about his injuries. Ever. He was afraid to think of them.

Fluttering around in a circle again, Rhian flicked her antennae softly. "I'm sorry, all this night has done is bring more pain to you. . . but maybe, maybe it's the kind of pain that can start healing. I hope so, at least. But thank you for saying you'll try, even though you're too scared to. There might come a time when you're not, after all." Rhian smiled a little, an odd expression on a butterfly face but something she managed, somehow.
"We will meet again, I know it - and then we can share some fluffy treat!" She chirped happily, picking up her fluttering speed and zipping almost straight up into the air for a good twenty feet, then drifting back down. "I have to go home now, but I liked talking with you very much, Mister-Sad-Man. "

More pain... Kaosu tried not to think about what she meant by this. Shrugging with a forced indifference, he curtly retorted, "Would you stop calling me afraid?" Stop calling him on the truth. Huffing immaturely, he gruffly took a step away. He did his best to ignore Rhian's friendly demeanor and charming, awkward smile.
"Maybe. But only if you're buying," he added despite himself. Her energetic attitude. Her optimism. He could not deny this Essentic was a cute one. For a brief, precious moment he forgot his burning guilt. "If we do meet again, please call me by the proper name. Kaosu." With that he opted to leave and find a place to sleep for the night.

"Goodbye then, Mr. Kaosu," Rhian called softly, then turned and headed for home. She wouldn't be able to tell Ellandra and Ellandra-husband that trystan was probably hurting very badly without letting this slip and getting in trouble. . . but truthfully, she didn't know whether he really was, mister kaosu seemed convinced he was okay, and it was likely her owner-Mama and Ellandra-husband wouldn't believe her, anyway.
Still, she had a lot to think about tonight. Maybe, if Trystan-pretty-eyes didn't show up for a while, she'd try and find a way to get them to check on him. She wanted him to be okay, after all. And she hoped Mister Kaosu-sad-man would be, too.
