Faolan gave a shiver of pleasure as his wife teased his ear, looking up at her with half-closed eyes. He moved around so he was stretched out next to her again, hand resting on her belly, idling stroking it. "Couldn't hurt to ask. If'n he don't know, mayhaps Trystan does."
Zia walked through the front door, having returned from watching the piglet races. It was always amazed where the carnival managed to ever find tiny saddles for the monkeys to ride on. Stepping in, it noticed its sister fluttering about with . . . incense on her head. The things that went on while Zia was away, honestly. Perhaps Farstep just made everyone that lived in it long enough a little bizarre.
"Rhian, what are you doing?" it asked, walking over to her.

Ellandra nodded a little, snuggling up to him a bit. This really was just so very nice. . . "Speaking of trystan, when do you think he'll drop by again?" She askd quietly, more curious than anything else - though she smiled as she added, "I think Rhian misses him." Which was true, in a way. Rhian liked chattering at any visitors to their home, and Trystan was a welcome target for the, well, "social butterfly" of the family.
Rhian looked over at her sibling as she flew around in circles, trying to keep the smelly sticks on while she looked for something to tie them with. "I like the smelly-sticks because they're nice and calming smelling! I thought they might be useful since I need to keep Ellandra calm but I can't make them stay on." The butterfly paused in her circling and perched on Ziazan's arm, fluttering her wings a little. "Can you help me get them to stay on?"

"I never know when he's coming by, love. He tends to show up when the mood strikes him," Faolan admitted, moving to nuzzle his wife's neck and hair. He stopped after a moment, a thought occurring to him, and looked down at her. "You think maybe its about time to have you checked out by a doctor? We have a really good one here at Farstep, but I'll go with you if you wanna see an outsider doctor."
The alter tilted its head and chuckled. "They're good, yeah, but much more effective if you light them on fire and let them burn. I'll show you." Zia plucked one of the sticks from her and went over to a shelf where an incense burner was. After tucking the stick in, it lit it, then blue the small flame out and looked back at Rhian as sweet-smelling smoke wafted up from the stick. "See? Much better that way."

Ellandra blinked, startled by Faolan's sudden suggestion. "W-what? Um.... .actually, Faolan, I - I hadn't even thought about it," she admitted with a blush. How in the world could the need to see a doctor pass by her? Oh, right, between all of the things that had been happening, th trip to the beach, cleaning up the messes left by Rags and Rhian (made as she fled from the cat, and trying to squeeze in ways to be useful, all while dealing with severe morning sickness and trying not to wear herself out too much, it had simply slipped her mind. "I suppose . . . and I don't really mind who I'd see, Faolan, I mean, Ziazan could tell far better than any doctor I went to in my childhood what's going on with the babies, anyway...."
Rhian followed her sibling and watched as th lovely smells drifted up from the now-burning stick and watched with fascination. "It would b more seful if I could use them without setting them somewhere, though - to take the with me!" Still. . . they were suck nice smelly-sticks regardless of how you used them!

Faolan shrugged. "It can tell what's going on, sure, but its not medically trained to know if something bad or good or, if it is bad, what to do to treat it. I know you'll feel better going to a doctor. They might even be able to do one of those things where they show you the babies and let you listen to them." He grinned, warming up to the idea. True, he disliked and distrusted outsiders, but he couldn't deny that their doctors had better equipment. "We could make a day of it."
The alter nodded. "Perhaps some Essence of Lavender oil might help. I bet someone in the carnival has some. I can always go look around for you. Then you can just dab some of the oil on and smell like the flowers all the time."

Ellandra sighed softly, and said, "But I don't want to do something that would make you feel uncomfortable." And it was true, too. She did want to know if their babies were okay, but neither did she want Faolan to be forced to go somewhere he didn't like.
Rhian tilted her head and fluttered her wings gently. "Oil? Hmmm, okay! I'd like it!"

Faolan laughed, rolling onto his back. After a moment, the laughter ended in a soft sigh and he looked over at her, grinning and still chuckling a bit. "La, woman, we here at Farstep are backwards, not stupid. I don't like outsiders, but I know enough that their doctors are better than ours in some respects. I know you'd like to see our bairns and listen to them, too, and our doctor can't do that for you." Go somewhere he didn't like? That just wasn't possible with Ellandra. Wherever his wife went, that would be a place he'd want to be, too.
Zia grinned. "Good lass. You go back to sprucing up here and I'll find you some of the oil, then we can both finish cleaning. Sound like a plan?"

Ellanra tilted her head and thought for a moment. "You know... we could go to both - the doctor here .... and one that would let us see the babies -and me hear them, since I can't without their equipment, unlike you." Among the rest of her family, Ellandra felt like she was probably the one with the least knowledge of the babies - bcause she had the feeling Rhian pestered her sibling into telling her about them
Rhian nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! I like this idea! And thank you for offering to help me, sibling-Zi!" She chirped, fluttering off to start cleaning some more.

Faolan twitched an ear in thought. "You mean go to Farstep's doc for the most part, but visit an outsider every so often to see the babies? Not a bad idea, I guess. Let's go to the outsider doc first, though, okay? I wanna see what the weans look like. I imagine they're a bit like giant brine shrimp at this point."
Zia nodded. "I'll come back soon." It left its sister to the cleaning and bounded back out the door to hunt down the precious lavender oil.

Ellandra blinked, then laughed a little. "Brine shrimp? Really, Faolan that's - that's............. rather a good description actually." Silly fortune-teller.. . . her silly fortune teller. She kissed the ear he'd just twitched, amused by the thoughts that ran through Faolan's head.
Rhian watched her sibling leave, then pouted as she returned to the difficult task of cleaning up the mess she had made. "So much mess. . . ."

Faolan gave a soft moan of pleasure, eyes half-closing at the kiss. He rolled onto his side, looking at Elle, and smiled. "You think they get movin' much yet? They probably got plenty of womb to go swimmin' about in while they're still little. Ain't too cramped in there yet, yeah?" He rubbed on his wife's belly affectionately.
Zia moved quickly through the carnival, locating the booth that sold perfumes and oils. After buying a vial of lavender oil with some of the money Fao gave it as an allowance, it hurried back to the vardo.

"They're attached, Faolan, I don't think they swim," Ellandra said, smiling a bit. "I'm hardly a fishbowl," she added, closing her eyes and snuggling up to him. Really, these babies were being so very hard on her... maybe she had been pushing herself too much or something, she was tired again. the babies always seemed to make her tired lately. Hm... oh well, she probably just needed a nap.
Rhian nearly pounced on Ziazan when it returned to the vardo. "Sibling-Zi! Did you get it? Did you? Did you?"

Faolan gave her a look. "Babies do actually swim, kinda. They move around in there some while they're growin'." He watched her a bit, then stroked her cheek gently. "Bairns are wearin' you down, lass?" He frowned, moving his hand to feel her cheek better, then moved his hand to her forehead, eyes getting wider. "La, woman, how long have you had a fever?"
Zia nodded, holding up the vial. "All you need is one drop on a pulse point, the vendor said. I'm not sure if you have a pulse, sister, but we can try putting a drop somewhere like between your wings so when you flutter them, you move the smell around."

Ellandra blinked. "A fever? What...? What are you talking about, Faolan...?" She didn't know she had a fever - but then she'd never been ery good about reading her own body temperature. But it could explain why she was so tired, she supposed. "I don't know, I didn't even know that I had one," she said, worry rising in her gut now - did this mean something was wrong with the babies? Sure, she'd been tired (and admittedly a bit grumpy) lately, but sick?
Rhian fluttered around Ziazan in excited circles. "Yes, yes, that sounds very good, very good - maybe my antennae too, since I move them a lot?" Suddenly she paused and dropped to perch on her sibling's arm, antennae flicking wildly. "Something's wrong."

"I donae know, lass. Best we should get you to a doctor sooner than we'd planned and have you looked at," Faolan said, then sat up, ears going up a bit. "I think Zia's here. We could ask it if it can get a bead on why you're feverish." He looked to the door and called out for the Essentic.
Zia was trying to get the vial open to dab some of the oil on Rhian when it heard her next words, then heard Faolan calling. "We'll make you smell pretty later." It set the vial on the table and walked into the bedroom with Rhian. "You bellowed?"
Fao nodded and motioned the two over. "Elle's got a fever, hinny. See if you can tell what's goin' on with that."
"Fair enough," it replied, getting Rhian to let go so it could be focused on Ellandra. Laying its small hands on her, it closed its eyes, brow furrowing in concentration, then opened its eyes wide and looked up at her. "By the Morrigan. Elle, you have to go to a doctor. Now."
