Annis smiled in relief as the Elixir was thrown down to her, and she caught it easily out of the air. The contents swished easily within the bottle... potion, not ointment. She let Ganon take the bottle from her hands with his tail. The sight of his wounds mending (except for his hands, for some reason) made her smile widen a little more. "Thank the goddess," she murmured, brushing her hair from her face again. He would be just fine.
Annis looked around while Ganon affixed his instruments properly to his back, then flapped her wings. She followed him over the barricade, but lingered near it, not following over to the injured girl. Annis wasn't sure if it was really best to try to figure out what had happened to her if Ganon was preoccupied now (and the girl seemed really disoriented to boot).
Annis settled for turning to Large, one hand going to her hip. "So. What exactly is going on around here? The streets are deserted."

Leena was no worried that Chickenwire seemed all but silent when she was asking her questions. The rumors couldn't be true! Her best friend, Leon.. a traitor? A deserter? The FEF guild... rogues, cowards, rebels? No! It couldn't be happening... it just couldn't. "Chi-Chickenwire... they're lies, aren't they? Leon... FEF... they'd never betray us... they'd never..."

(Oh right, there are two barricades not one.. Ignore the post in response to Leena then)
Aran continued to work on the barricade, he realized they didn't exactly need an entrance, since they could just climb over it.
"That'll do for now" As he finished hammering a couple few planks in to secure the entrance. And just as he finished, he saw Large peak over the top and then watched him throw an elixir over. It sounded to him that somebody needed help, but he needn't worry as he saw a large scaly like figure hop over the barricade... First Ed, now Ganon. Who else? Right on cue, a raven laguz came over as well to address Large. Wait a sec, I don't remember seeing her.. She must be new. Aran thought to himself

Chickenwire stood for a long moment, tuning the talkative jeweler out as he thought things through. He knew all the rumors, and this explained where Leon was... But he, like his captain, was a long-time copper, and a criminal before that. They had cynicism burned into their brains. And anyway, he knew Leon. And he knew if something was unexpected, it usually wasn't really what was happening.
"No," he said at last. "Right now, I can't hardly tell arsehole from breakfast time, but I'm bettin' tha guild knows somethin' we dun', an' Leon wouldna' betray the cap'ns. They saved his life, an' he still owes 'em." He nodded. "Jus' hold still a sec," he added as he leaned down and carefully picked Leena up, throwing her over his shoulder so he could use his left hand to scale the barricade again. Once at the top, he carefully set her down and started climbing down with her.
"Magnet's at tha Watch House, he'll sign fer tha delivery, yeah?"
Large nodded over at Aran as he passed by, then turned back to face Annis. "It's a riot of sorts," he said. Of all the Watch, perhaps only Magnet exceeded Large in ease with which he could be understood. He pulled his hood back, shifting his light, dark-gray cloak back from around his shoulders as he looked up at Annis' face. "Rumors flying everywhere, those explosions up at the mansion, the fighting in the forest, everybody saw and heard it. Rumors about the Nine Heroes being back to kill the Dark God again. Don't know I believe it, myself, but... Rumors are also flying about that the guild is attacking 'em. People ain't too open to the idea maybe the Heroes ain't here to help, yeah?" He sat down on a little crate and took a little case out of a hidden pocket, then began rolling a cigarette.
"So what're you doin' here?" he added, slowly rolling the paper around the tobacco. "An' where you been?"

Leena was a bit surprised to be taken right over the wall. However... she'd seen scarier happening to her fellow shopkeepers. The riots as of late had put several of her cooperating businesses on edge, and when she saw the Watch putting up the barricades around her area as well.. she shivered. Why must people do these things? Why must they believe such horrid lies?
And she sighed with relief to hear Leon wasn't a traitor... neither FEF. She truly had unshakable faith in both, but it would be hard to choose between them and the Watch.
Making her way to the Watch house, where she remembered it being (but now behind all these walls!) and the vendor quietly knocked on the door. "Um... Magnet? The delivery's here, even your special order."

Huh.
What's this thing?
Ed started to pat whatever had slipped beneath her. It was...oddly soothing, and not just because it was fluffy. Or fleshy. Fleshy? She patted it again. Huh. Weird.
She decided to pull her eyes open for once to take a look. Her eyes ached just from the effort of keeping them open. Ed glanced down at her 'pillow' and, surprised, drew away. What was that? A fox? Also weird.
But hey, the fox didn't seem to be objecting.
So Ed put her head down again. This adorable beastie was a welcome presence, so Ed didn't complain either.
And then she heard Ganon, and pulling her eyes open again she also saw the musician hurrying toward her. Ed quietly extended her arms, weakly, in a gesture for a hug. She merely smiled at him.

Annis spread her wings again, flapping them once, and let them rest loosely behind her as she sank to a sitting position on a conveniently-located crate. She watched as Large removed his hood and adjusted his cloak. Being the kind of man he was, the loose, dark-colored clothing came with the territory. Annis listened in silence, looking down to her fingernails. She nodded as he spoke to let him know she was paying attention, slowly picking bits of dried blood -- Ganon's blood -- out from under her nails. Need to be trimmed... hm.
Her gaze went up as he spoke more personally, directed to her and not the situation they found themselves in. "So what're you doin' here? An' where you been?"
Annis stretched her arms high above her head, then cracked her knuckles, taking each finger in turn. "Mm... I had a few contracts to settle outside of town, one near Bad Noving and a couple out in the country, not really definitive in the country lines. Mostly acquiring some goods. Got it done, got paid... really nice, too. Had some of my previous issues settled with that money. Except this pompadour-haired b*****d in black leather stole my ******** wallet," Annis told Large. She flicked a lock of black hair away from her eyes. "By what I can tell, he was one of those Nine Heroes. Castello, his name is."
She rubbed one finger against the bridge of her nose and leaned forward. Her elbows rested on her knees while she laced her fingers and put her chin there. Her green eyes went over to Large, watching him fix up his cigarette. "But enough about my problems. I can make that money back, and if I can get a hold on that guy for more than five seconds, I can figure out something to get that money back. The point's that I'm back and no one here's after me for nothin', right? What about you? Been keeping up with the Watch well enough?"

Aran returned Large's nod, he decided he'd join in on their conversation.
Don't know I believe it, myself, but... Rumors are also flying about that the guild is attacking 'em.
He waited until they had finished talking, and then said "Pardon me to interrupt, but the FEF guild is really attacking these nine heroes? I remember hearing one of Ganon's tales that talked about these heroes but if they're back, then the guild has to be attacking them for a good reason." Aran wasn't too enthusiastic about trying to qwell the mobs, because after all he was apart of FEF as well.

Magnet looked up from the Duty Officer's desk as Leena entered, and smiled. "Oh! Leena, glad to see you're alright. I know your shop is inside the riot area... Some people just go a bit crazy when what amounts to the government is... doing something, I honestly don't know. Here, let me just check," he murmured, taking the jeweler's parcel and checking through it quickly, piece by piece, before he turned and took up an official pad issued by the Royal Bank of Eyris, upon which he wrote Leena a check from the Watch. "Er," he said, pausing a moment. "Of course, I'm only a Corporal... Only a captain or Lieutenant is authorized to sign this. When any of them arrive, I'll sign it and send a messenger to bring it to you, alright?"
Ganon smiled, removing his instruments from his back again, and leaned down to gently hug Ed, being sure he didn't cause her any more pain. "I'm so sorry," he murmured again. "It's been a long night. Got sidetracked by a... duel." And he blinked as a fluffy fox tail tickled his cheek.
Something familiar about that.
Large shrugged, scratching his neck. "Huh. They really are back, you think? Not just a load of impostors? Well, long as they don't try to make trouble here, ain't really our problem," he said, nodding to Aran in agreement. "I've never known the guild to start fights, just end 'em. Somethin' tells me we'd be hard-pressed to arrest 'em, though. We're keepin' up well enough here, except the Lieutenant and Constable Amelia's missing." He frowned, crossing his arms. "We had an all-units call, even off-duty they shoulda come. I heard Leon's off with FEF, so he's probably okay, but you seen Amelia?"
He paused for a moment and added, "And you know anything about the break-in on Wandering Street last week? 'M still investigating that."

"Ah, sure..." Leena nodded. "It's always a pleasure to help you, especially since you controlled those... ruffians near my area. I don't know what I'd do without all of you guys. I really don't." She too smiled sincerely. "Do you think I should return? I'm unsure if it's even safe out there anymore.... and to top it off, no one really knows where Leon is. I'm.. so worried about him... aren't you too? We're... both good friends of his... aren't we?"

Annis didn't shift from her position, her eyes still on the short man next to her. "I think... this is one incredibly elaborate, well-thought-out hoax if it's not real," Annis finally responded. She nodded in agreement to the last comment about the Heroes and yawned. While Large continued, she flicked away the tear that had come to the corner of her eye. At the mention of missing units, Annis' brows furrowed. "I don't really know either of 'em, what with being out of town so long... the names are famliar, though. I'm sure I've seen 'em a couple times." Annis considered this for a minute. "...Those kids are responsible, right? Duty-bound? You know where Leon is, but not her..." Annis adjusted her hands a little, but stayed leaning forward with her chin on her fingers. "You ever consider that wherever she is, something's preventing her from leaving? I know you guys well enough, and I wouldn't want to face Dan's wrath from bein' late." Annis grinned at him. The expression didn't fade when Large mentioned a break-in.
She glanced to Aran, then laughed a little, almost teasingly. "If you think I did it, then you can forget it. My hands are clean of this one." She sat up and brushed some dirt off of her knees. Her clothes were still blood-spattered from helping Ganon, and while she didn't mind the smell now, the feeling of dry blood on her clothes, seeping in places towards her skin, was making her a little uncomfortable. She didn't say anything, just added to Large, "I'd suggest checking around the center of the city. Guys there are kinda rough. And you do know what was taken, how they got in, all that jazz, right? Different people, different tactics... different targets, y'know?"

Ed closed her arms around the hgi-val as he knelt down and nuzzled against whatever was there. She didn't seem to suffer from an action as simple as that. The pain had evaporated, leaving only tired muscles and bones. To those with a more distinguished sense for the spiritual, she had unknowingly set up a defense against any further spiritual or magical disturbances, making it more difficult for such to affect her. The defenses would slowly wear down over time. Within her shell of protection, Ed was still fairly raw from whatever had ailed her.
"'Tis fine," she replied feebly. "I'd reckon yeh had a long night... Ain't got a clue of wha's been happ'nin'." She let go after another moment and looked up at him with smiling blue eyes. Ed then took notice of where Ganon was glancing and too turned her head to the fox she was using as her pillow.
"Oh. Dunno where tha' came in from. Slipped under me head, it did."
She grinned and patted the beastie, not displeased to have such random company. Such soft fur. Ed was glad to have become a chimera —
Her eyes darted toward her belly before settling for Ganon again. Ed frowned a bit, and when she spoke, her accent reverted to her usual public dialect.
"Ganon? What's happening?"
Suddenly she seemed quite younger.

"I hope they're impostors, because then our job would be so much easier." He laughed at the thought "I can imagine the townspeoples' faces if they found out their heroes were fake." He continued the conversation, also nodding at Large. "They don't start fights unless they're attacked first. And as for Amelia.. Well, I think I saw her go into a restaurant and then go back to the manor, so I bet she's also with FEF"
He waited for him to start speaking again, and he began after Large finished. "Hmm.. I remember a break in last week. I forget if anything was stolen though"
After that, he looked at Annis and said "No, I doubt you did anything wrong. And I'll have to trust you for helping Ganon"

Large nodded, striking a match as he put his little cigarette between his lips, and he inhaled a bit as he lit the end of the paper before waving the match out. "Aye," he murmured, "You don't need to tell me how to do my job, you know. Been coppering for years now, I think I got the hang of it a little better'n you do." He grinned, then glanced over at Aran.
"This is Annis, a... buddy of mine. We can trust her about as far as Cap'n Dan can throw 'er, which is far 'nough. She's light and tends to glide."
Magnet coughed. "Yes. We're good friends. I'm worried, but there's not much I can do... I'm sorta stuck here, Leena. And even if I wasn't, I couldn't exactly set off and go looking for him! I can't fight, I'd be in the way. Leon knows how to take care of himself, and I'm sure he's with friends. He'll... he'll be safe," the priest finished uncertainly, picking up his Guiding Ring, just holding it up to look carefully over every inch of it.

Annis grinned impishly over to Large and sat up once more. She stretched her arms high above her head and arched her back a little, taking in a deep breath. It was good to be out in the open air, much better than indoors... "I bet you do, mister Watchman," Annis responded. "I'm not exactly cut out for that law thing, but... you seem to do well enough with it." Annis stretched far back, letting her head tap against the barricade, before sitting back up and giving Aran a casual 'V for victory' handsign with the same impish grin.
"Hey, how's it going?" she asked Aran. She winked at him, then turned to Large. She watched him take a puff or two on his cigarette, then rubbed her hands against her knees as her stomach growled, quite audibly.
"You going to offer a lady something to take the edge off this hunger or are you going to make me sit here and let my stomach make awkward noises?"
