"But I'm not--!!" She gasped as Paradox drew her ever closer, her denial of being scared of him dying on her lips as she closed her eyes, pain and ecstasy coursing through her. Mei felt herself grow somewhat weaker, even colder, and when she opened her eyes--mere slits--her vision blurred, but she managed to make out Paradox with vivid clarity. "Para... dox..." she whispered, "...give... you." Her words were somewhat slurred as Mei was still sorting through the cacophony of her emotions. She was somewhat drowning in the chaos, but Mei found that she welcomed the emotions. They were certainly a different sort of "adventure," and truthfully, she was the safest right here with Paradox. She just knew it, even as he drank her blood. She wasn't going to stop him.

The feeling of his tongue on her neck was somewhat exhilarating, seeing as it was the first time a male had brought himself this close to her, and she was allowing it. Mei was a friendly mare through and through, but she never let anyone get physically close to her like this, except her family (but they simply greeting by nuzzling welcomes, and after that, kept a safe distance). She shivered a little more and moved ever closer to Paradox, trying to figure out why she had to be so close to him, and not running away like a proper, sensible mare should. Mei concluded it was because she'd fallen for Paradox. She nuzzled him gently, her legs slowly folding beneath her. The drainage of blood left her feeling weak and woozy, but again, Mei found it was quite all right, if Paradox was being this affectionate with her.

"...liberties...?" She echoed, clearly still not thinking straight. She was being distracted into wakefulness with Paradox's little touches here and there. She shifted her wings, and using one of them, she brushed a few feathers against his side; a silent "thank you." Mei was slowly falling into unconsciousness, however; she was physically tired as well as drained, and she needed to rest to recover for the next day. Mei hoped that, when she next woke up, Paradox would still be there, and she hadn't dreamed the entire thing. She nuzzled Paradox affectionately. "Good night, Paradox..."

As she leaned against his side, her feathers brushing against him, Paradox felt the first stirrings of protectiveness within him. He was being foolish, he knew. But there was something vulnerable about Mei and the blind trust she showed him even after he had displayed the darker side of his nature.

But Mei seemed...affectionate, which he found odd. Fear, he was ready for. But this tenderness? He didn't understand how anyone could welcome his darkness as she had done mere moments before. His father had been entirely wrong...about this mare, if no one else.

"Yes, liberties," he said with a soft chuckle. "But you appear to be too exhausted...or even aware of what liberties you could take. A rain check, then, for another day." He watched her eyes slowly close, felt her snuggle closer to his side. "Good night, Mei," he murmured.

Nocturnal by nature, he stayed awake into the night, watching Mei sleep with a small, sideways smile on his face. Near dawn, he rose, gently pulling back from her so that he wouldn't wake the mare beside him. This night had been....the closest thing to wonderful he was likely to have. But it couldn't last. He knew it couldn't, because of what he was. If she stayed...he could barely control himself when his bloodlust caught him. He would bite her again, he was sure. He might even do worse than that. He shuddered at the thought.

It was best to leave, to spare her heart...and his. He had begun to feel something for her, something he could not push away--fondness? A friendship? Those words did not seem to do it justice. Whatever it was, the frozen wasteland of his heart was beginning to thaw...and he was afraid of what that meant.

And so he left, cursing his blood, creeping away into his black forest, leaving Mei alone in the dawning sunlight.
