Some people here might like Ayreon.
I've only heard one song by them, but it's spiffy sounding.
If you're into prog and stuff you might dig them.

If you like death metal vocals and mellotrons, I highly reccomend Opeth.
The mellotron is the coolest instrument ever and I wish Mars Volta would use it somehow.

I've just started getting into A Perfect Circle, partly because they were reccomended on here and partly because my boyfriend really likes them.
I still don't like them as much as Tool, but I think they're pretty good. They're much better at the softer songs than Tool was, but they're not as good at alternating between softer and heavier moments within songs.
I guess that is part of APC's appeal, I guess they're supposed to be like a more accessable Tool? I'm not sure.
My boyfriend loves APC but hates Tool (and most metal) and that upsets me.
Forgive me, I'm just rambling.

I'm familiar with a few jam bands, but none of them are as crazy or as energetic as Mars Volta.

Yes is my favorite band o.o I'm questing for Tormato even tough I got it from LimeWire but it's not the same mad
I like Led Zeppelin, APC, The Dresden Dolls, Tool, Pink Floyd, Guns 'n' Roses, etc. can't really think right now XD
