John kept his mouth shut throughout the entire exchange. He didn't really want to get involved with something so delicate. Over the years, Chris had become quite more adept at weaving words than John, so he let his vice-captain take care of Trice. Still yet, his hand lazily drifted down to his side as he eyed Trice. It was relaxed, yet could draw his dagger at a moment's notice. His eyes then wandered to the other personalities. They all seemed so uncomfortable with Trice in their presence. Why was that? Was Trice really the leader, or was she just the most dangerous?

Whatever the reason, he had to make sure that all his actions would not set off Trice. "Hey, uhm... quiet girl." he whispered to Emily, trying to stay out of Trice's earshot. "Have you found that paper and pen yet?"

A thoughtful expression befell Trice's face, though her smirk still remained. Her thumb absently ran along the blade of the knife she held in her sleeve. "Easier, indeed," she finally said. "But fun...not so much. I do prefer the latter." The indigo-cloaked girl knelt atop her perch, lazily draping an arm over her knee. "But...I suppose I could be generous and give you the information you seek. Or, I could leave you guessing." She seemed to be thinking aloud, rather than speaking to anyone in particular.

Emily was shocked out of her stupor by John suddenly addressing her. What? Paper and...oh, right. She nodded quickly, though she kept a careful eye on Trice. She brought an index finger up to poke at her own temple, a gesture that tried to tell John that Trice was...well, psycho. The mute sank to the floor and grabbed one of the yellowed, torn pages lying about. Fishing a pen out of her pocket, she wrote:

'Beware Trice. She's...different from all the rest of us. Mony told me...awful things.'

Chris fought back an eyeroll. Looks like someone was doing a bit of muscle-flexing - what vanity. Standing in the way of rationality and order for the sake of self-elevation? He supposed that it was evidence of her humanity... he couldn't afford to act uppity, though. He had to play her game.

"That's odd," Chris ventured. "For some reason, you struck me as the type who cut right to the chase, rather than play games..." he adjusted his spectacles. "Still, there is nothing I can do to sway you, I suppose. In which case... I'll leave you alone for now, so you can reach some sort of resolution."

The seeds had been sown; right now, Chris wasn't about to appeal to the girl's 'generosity' - that would have been too blatantly false. Perhaps she would be less inclined to withhold her aid if she saw that by doing so, she lost her audience. Negotiations were tricky business; it was all in the subtlety. However, he'd done all he could do for the time being. Right now, it'd be best if he made himself scarce. Approaching the bookshelves, Chris peered over to see what John was up to.

"Ah, there you are," He said to his friend. "You'd gone a bit quiet... I was wondering what you were doing over here." He eyed the girl by his side inquisitively. "Making acquaintances with one of the locals, are we?"User Image

At that moment, John was reading the sentence on the aged piece of paper. "Awful things", huh? That did not bode well for John and Chris. They could be stuck here for a while, at the whimsy of all these people. Trice in particular made John uneasy. She seemed very willing to bring these encounter to a more aggressive plateau, which John was fine with. Even with these cramped quarters, he'd give that girl a fight she wouldn't soon forget. Looking over at the muted girl, he reconsidered. He would not want her caught up in a fight like that.

"I think we might be stuck here." John said quietly to his friend. "And, as sad as it may be to admit, I think we're at the mercy of that Trice girl's whimsies. Look at how everyone else is acting now that she's here..."

Trice merely brushed off the entire conversation, twirling her knife in her cold, pale hand. Glancing down at her other counterparts, who had been fearfully silent the whole time, she commanded, "Go away, all of you. You all sicken me." And with that, she became lost in her memories...completely lost to her surroundings.

Emily gave a furious nod, and pointed to each of the departing personalities. Everyone left without uttering a word, just like Trice ordered. With a sigh, the quiet girl retrieved another sheet of paper lying on the floor. Her pen scribbled black ink across the sheet.

'Hello, new person. I apologize for Trice...she is kind of scary...I'll tell you anything you wish to know; just ask.'

A shaky hand held the message out to Chris.

Chris's eyes narrowed. "Huh... is that how it is?" His response to John was flat - he was perturbed that this Trice girl was so necessary in the whole scheme of things. That girl had a serious attitude problem, and he really didn't want to have to deal with it. Fortunately, he'd kept things cool - hadn't blown up when she'd called him scum. If she ever fell down in worth, though, he'd be sure to give her a good few whacks for it.

At least this other girl seemed helpful enough, though. His expression loosened as he read the note she showed him. Chris decided not to comment on the muteness and just cut straight to the point. "Ah, I'm glad you're willing to help us..." he spoke with a slightly hushed tone. "Let's start with the most important question - how do we get out of here, exactly?" Securing an exit was his priority right now - all other objectives were luxuries by comparison. It was important not to lose sight of that.User Image

Straight to the point, Chris was. Even though avoiding Trice didn't really rub John the right way, there really was no better alternative. They were on her territory and would have to play by her rules. He didn't want to admit it, but he was becoming a little more anxious with each passing moment. Maybe it was Chris' consistent effort of trying to get out.

"Yeah, how do we get out?" John asked along with Chris.

The furious scratching of a ballpoint pen on old parchment echoed in the silence that had settled about the place. With Trice left to her own devices, and everyone else going about some business or something, Emily was the only one who could help. She hadn't seen Mony around, come to think of it...where was she?

'The only way to get out of this place is if Ally herself comes to get you out. But...there is a catch. All of us have to agree to let you go...'

She held the paper up for one of the men to take.

Chris took the paper and read it over a few times, as if to make sure he got it right. "Hell," he said, shaking his head. He handed John the paper. This is how it had to be, huh... guess he better get used to the idea. Prepare himself to negotiate with his prison wards.

"Well..." he scratched his head, his brow furrowed. "At least we know that it's possible to get out of here." This statement was followed by a sigh. "At any rate... perhaps we should put that on the shelf for now. Take a look around." Chris looked over at John. "What do you think? Want to explore a bit before we get right to work on leaving? We may never have another opportunity like this..."

Then again, this might be all they get to do for the rest of eternity. But he tried not to think about that.User Image

John merely frowned at the paper. That certainly made things more difficult, yet it probably wouldn't be impossible. If they could get Ally here somehow, or at the very least, get her attention, they should be able to have her get all of these people in check. Still yet, that could take a very long time. Long enough to go through all these books, even.

"Yeah, let's take a look around. We may be able to find some other exit or at least something to help up." he replied as he turned to Emily. "Do you mind leading the way? I'm sure you know this place better than I do."

"Good luck trying to find another exit when there isn't one...," a saddened voice muttered to the trio. Mony sat on an elevated shelf, legs dangling idly off the edge. Her violet eyes were downcast, hidden behind curtains of long, black hair. She played with the long sleeves of her shirt, tugging and twisting the cuffs.

A smile lit up Emily's face. Mony was here now! She beckoned her depressed counterpart to hop down and join them, waving her hand in a welcoming gesture. It would be much easier to show their kind guests around with someone who could actually speak. Writing everything down on paper would be too tedious a method. The cyan-eyed girl pouted at the thought, then turned to face John and Chris with a cute grin. Her pen scratched across the paper, and she held up the message for them to read.

'Would it be okay for Mony to join us?'

Chris looked down at the scribbles. What kind of question was that? Of course, they had to let the girl join them, as they couldn't risk imparting any ill-will into any of the individuals. "Sure," half-smiling. "The more the merrier, I suppose." It looks like they got one of the more negative and depressing incarnations as well... what happened to the flirty one? Why couldn't she be the one chasing them around...?

Oh well, all in good time. "If it's okay with the rest of you, I'd like to begin perusing the unexplored territories of this mind..." He rested his free hand in one of his pockets, where he had a small notebook and pencil. He carried it everywhere with him, in case he was struck with brilliance or needed to write something down. Now, he could use it to record their expedition through Ally... indeed, this opportunity would cement him as one of Gaia's frontier psychologists. "So... what are we waiting for, hm?" His gaze jumped from one individual to the next. The concern in his eyes had shifted to fascination...User Image

Chris was becoming more and interested, which was fine, yet John was starting to become uncomfortable. If they were in her mind, does that mean that they were vulnerable to her imagination? If Ally was able to manifest her imagination her, she'd be a goddess in her own mind. John knew that Ally wouldn't use that power to harm him or Chris, yet some of these other Allys seemed less... trustworthy.

John saw Chris taking notes and blinked. He still had that old notebook? John has his, yes, but it wasn't on him, which was a shame. He'd certainly like to remember this strange experience, if he lived through it.

"So, how do we get Ally in here?" he asked Emily. "We could certainly use an exit."

Before Emily had the chance to scribble an answer, Mony leapt off the shelf and took a few careful steps toward the trio. "You don't want to bring her here," she uttered darkly, several strands of her hair poofing up as she spoke. Deciding not to elaborate any further, she turned away from the three and rubbed her arm--a nervous habit of hers.

Emily looked at John with slightly squinted eyes, her gaze then shifting to his dagger. A bright idea popped into her head, but...did she want to share it? It might just cause more problems...Her fist tightened around her pen as she shook her head.

"What is it you're looking for?" Mony asked quietly, glancing over her shoulder at the two men. "...Memories? Inner musings...weaknesses?" She had no idea why those two were present--though she had an idea of how it happened, anyway--but she'd be damned if she just let these two strangers probe through her keeper's most private treasures...and tragedies...without first knowing their intentions.

"Well," Chris started to say, "Ally is a friend of ours - I don't think it would make any sense for us to do anything detrimental, don't you think?" He crossed his arms. "Frankly, this is a mystery to me, and I simply want to explore the unknown. And how could I know what I'm looking for when I don't know what's out there?" He put his hands behind his back and turned to his comrade. "John, what do you suggest?"User Image
