"How man yof these things are there?!" Verdant was flabbergasted! He'd just found out about the PS1 and 2 only to find out there was a third? Those video game companies were pumping these babies out pretty quickly!
Shade seemed as eager to show Verdant how to play the games as he was eager to learn. He nodded furiously, his hair bouncing lightly on his shoulders. "What game should we play first? Is there something, you know, easy? I'm going to take it one baby step at a time."
Verdant hoped he wasn't coming off as too noob-ish. He had to admit, it was pretty silly that he'd yet to play a video game when he had the money to do so and was old enough to go buy one himself- was there a legal buying age when it came ot video games? So many questions, so little time!

Shade tilted his head as the thought about the question for a moment. "Well...Sony made the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP I think...um...Microsoft made the X-box and X-box 360...and Nintendo's made the Nintendo Entertainment System, the N64, the Gamecube, and the Wii...not to mention all the Game Boys and the DS..." Was it bad that he could name all the systems off by heart? Probably. He really needed to get out of the house more often.
"Um, lemme look." The impling knelt down on the floor and opened a cupboard beneath the T.V stand - inside it was a mixture of DVDs and game cases. "I have...Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2...Soul Reaver 2...Digimon World: Data Squad...Persona 3 and 4...and Disgaea 1 and 2." He glanced back to Verdant, blinking at the young man. Most of these games were easy for Shade - hell, he'd beaten them all at LEAST once - but he wasn't sure which ones would be considered easy for someone like Verdant.
"Lets...try Kingdom Hearts first." A game with Disney in it couldn't be TOO hard...right?

Verdant stared at the imp with nothing but awe in his eyes. "There are that many systems? Wow, I am os out of the loop, aren't I?" Verdant chuckled and perused the video games that Shade had extracted from the cupboard in the T.V. stand. "Kingdon Hearts looks like a lot of fun! I mean, it has Disney characters- how could it not be fun? And the artwork for... how do you pronounce that, Disgaea? The artwork for that game is interesting. I like it."
Verdant watched as Shade popped in the game into the PS2. He scooted a bit closer to Shade so that he could get a better look at how to put in the disc. It looked a lot like the music CDs he had, but had funny characters and symbols all over it. "That's Kingdom Hearts, right?" He smiled and picked up the little booklet that was inside the game case. He saw that it was an instructional booklet on how to play the game- that sure was helpful! He read through it quickly, trying to memorize the button cammonds and all, but it was proving difficult. Instead, he just admired the artwork. "That Riku person is a boy? Right? 'Cos he's pretty like a girl."

Shade grinned a little. "This is what I usually do when I'm not at school so...I just know a lot about it." His tail flicked as Verdant commented on the artwork of the Digaea game and nodded. "The game itself is pretty awesome too, once you get the hang of it." Maybe Verdant could try that one next, if he had the time.
The impling nodded to Verdant's question as the young man scooted closer. "Yup, that's right." He glanced over as Verdant began flipping through the booklet, blinking as it was brought up that Riku looked like a girl. "Does he...?" He moved to look over the older male's shoulder, blinking again as he looked at Riku's picture. "Huh...I guess he does." He'd never noticed it before...but that might've been because he'd been busy killing Heartless. Now that he looked though, Riku WAS kinda pretty...
Alright, um...game's up." He moved his eyes back towards the T.V screen, pushing the previous thoughts from his mind. "I can show you how to use the controls...I find it easier to learn them by actually playing than by using the intruction manual."

"Oh, no, it's okay. If I don't try it out myself, I'll never learn. I've always been like that, actually. Oh!" When the menu appeared, Verdant moved the control stick and chose to start a new game. He watched the game intro with wide-eyed enthusiasm. The artwork, while digitalized, was awe-inspiring and the character designs were awesome as well. Were all video games this cool? "Whoa, this is so cool! I didn't know video games were this detailed and stuff!"
When the intro finished and a few questions were answered, Verdant was finally able to move Sora, the game's main character, all over the Destiny Islands. "Okay, let's see here..."
***An hour or so later...***
"I give up! That stupid, big, shadow Heartless is annoying, with its big hulking body, shadow punches, and mini-heartless!" Verdant had been trying to kill the giant Heartless that had swallowed up the Destiny Islands, but had failed all fourteen times. He gave Shade the control and sighed. "I think I'm not cut out for these games. Maybe I should've played them some more earlier one..."

Shade took the controller as it was handed to him and scratched the back of his head with one hand. Maybe they should try doing something else...because obviously, Verdant wasn't enjoying this. Then again, the impling remembered being frustrated when he'd first started playing. 'You were eight though.' He supposed playing for a few years did make somewhat of a difference...
"You wanna...do something else?" His mother wouldn't be home for another few hours, so it wasn't like they didn't have time. He wasn't sure what else to offer Verdant though as entertainment - Shade spent most of his time with technology, but his new friend obviously didn't. There had to be SOMETHING around here that Verdant would like to do! Alas, they didn't exactly have musical instuments laying around the apartment...he DID have a music player though. "I could put some music on."

"Yeah, something else might be better. I'm going to get a headache if I keep trying to beat this guy." Verdant smiled at Shade's latest idea. "Music is good. I can totally handle music."
Goodness, was he that out of touch with today's youth? Hell, he was part of today's youth! He'd need to get a little more video game savvy for next time.

Shade grinned and nodded before getting up to head for his bedroom. He'd have to make sure he got something out that Verdant liked. He remembered a few songs being mentioned...one of them was 'Anna Molly', if he remembered correctly. 'That's by Incubus, right...?' He wasn't sure if he had one of their CDs though...maybe something else would work. What though?
"Verdant?" He peeked out into the hallway, peering down it and into the living room. "Any requests?" He might as well ask...he'd have a better idea of what to put on then.

"Hm? Oh, um, you have anything by Alesana or AFI? Nightwish? Disturbed? Incubus? Slipknot?" He wasn't sure what CDs Shade might have, so he was just naming the bands he liked off the top of his head. He should've bought a few CDs himself o Shade could check them out. Another day, perhaps. "How about Saosin? Nine Inch Nails? Ooh, how about Tool?"
Was Verdant being annoying? He hoped not. He decided he should just pick something out of Shade's collection, so he got up and followed the imp to his room. He knocked on the door frame and meekly asked, "Mind if I come in?"

"I have Distubred and Nightwish!" He knew that off the bat. As for the others...he might've, but he wasn't entirely sure. He had a fair amount of CDs in his room, as he sometimes tended to buy new ones whenever he saw something that looked interesting. If it turned out to be bad, well...it kind the case would kind of end up getting burried beneath the ever-growing pile in his room. "I think I might have Slipknot!" By now, he was digging through said pile again, trying to see if he had any of the other bands that Verdant had mentioned.
The impling glanced over his shoulder as he heard a knock on the doorframe and nodded a bit. He hoped Verdant wouldn't mind if his room was a little messy...it wasn't much worse than any other boy his age though. His bed was unmade and some clothing was strewn across the floor - apparently, the impling sometimes didn't bother to throw it in the hamper. People didn't usually come into his room though, so he'd never worried about keeping it clean. There was a small computer desk in his room - sitting atop it was a rather old-looking laptop. The impling had bought it off a friend at school for $40 and had fixed it up. It was kind of slow, but the boy took what he could get - he wasn't picky and so long as it worked, he was happy.
"Yeah, sure, but just watch it - Mom says there might be something growing under my bed." Which wouldn't be TOO much of a surprise, considering all the stuff that was cluttered underneath it.

Verdant grinned at Shade after taking in the sights. His room was cleaner than Verdant's normally was and smelled a little better too; try as he might, the smell of musk just would not go away. He was also impressed with Shade's CD collection; he couldn't see what bands were in it, but there were quite a few. He took a quick glance at the space under Shade's bed and gigled at what the imp's mother had said.
"I doubt anything sentient is growing under there besides dust bunnies, dude. So, you've got Disturbed and Nightwish? Which CDs?" Verdant walked up to Shade and peered over his shoulder, accidentally rubbing up against him. "Oh, sorry!"

"I thought I heard something move under there one night." Shade smiled a bit, his tail flicking as he continued to dig through the pile. He was about to answer Verdant when he felt the older young man rub up against him. The skin beneath his dark fur immediately flushed a little. "I-It's alright." He quickly jumped back to the subject of the CDs, glad that his fur would cover up his currently-pink skin. "I have 'Ten Thousand Fists'...'The S-Sickness'...and 'Dark Passion P-Play'..." He glanced up to Verdant, wondering if any of the CDs he'd just named interested him.

Was Shade stuttering? Why?
"Ooh, 'Ten Thousand Fists' is a great album! So is 'The Sickness', but I just love listening to Land of Confusion!" Verdant sat down on Shade's bed and smiled at the impling. He wondered if he would be interested in the other bands he liked? He hoped so; it was always cool to talk about bands he liked. The nymph then thought of something Shade had said earlier. "Yuo don't like school very much, huh? How come?"

Shade nodded a bit, feeling himself starting to calm down as they began to talk about the albums. "Yeah, me too - I heard the song was originally done by Phil Collins, but I've never looked into it." His voice was steady again, thankfully. "It would probably say if I looked on the internet."
The impling blinked as he was asked about his dislike of school. He scratched the back of his head, chewing on the inside of his cheek before he spoke. "Well...I guess I don't really see the point to a lot of the stuff they teach us..." His tail flicked as he tried to gather his words. "I guess it'll make sense later, but right now...a lot of the stuff doesn't seem very important." He was somewhat quoting his English teacher on that statement - the man was always lecturing the class about how everything they learned would benefit them later in life. That didn't make it any less of a pain to do though. There were a few others reasons he disliked school, but he decided to keep those to himself - they were somewhat personal.

"It was a pretty good song, the original, but Disturbed put so much more intensity into it; I love listening to the cover because it's just so powerful!" Verdant liked talking about music, especially music he liked. He could go on for hours just talking about one song by Alesana.
Verdant frowned a bit at Shade's reply. Was school that boring and unnecessary? "I guess they might be right; I never got the chance to go to school, so I wouldn't know..."
