Pixies are small. They have 5' reach. Unless I'm missing something...

They're halfling sized, not tinkerbell sized.

Sorry, keep getting them confused with petals.

Oh, and you don't use the wu-jen tables for size changing. Compression gives you +2 Dex -2 Str, and 1 size decrease per interval (max of two intervals).

That gets you to +4 size (+3 over what you already had), +2 DEX mod. not quite +16

Magnus, I like your Humaniod shape idea.

Since when do pixies get polymorph...

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/sprite.htm#pixie

They don't get polymorph on that table right there.

Anyhoo guys I'm thinking that my build isn't functional. It's sunk a bunch of feats and it's not really all that effective until level 10 or so. I'd like some suggestions on what else I could do with this pixie. Here's the sheet: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=125279

Right now I need to get into close combat and do stormguard warrior. Until 7th level that's what I'll have to be doing.

What do you guys think? Should I change builds, or keep with this one?

PS to JWM: I swear that until like yesterday we had identical stat arrays before I changed my CHA for INT.

Pixies have Polymorph (Self Only) as per the 3.5 Monster Manual, as seen here:

From the MM 3.5 errata -
Sprite, Pixie
Monster Manual, page 236
Remove “polymorph (self only)” from spell-like
abilities.

@Woodenbandman - I'd nix any idea that doesn't have power right away. PBP takes forever to level normally. I'm doing a build that has more-or-less constant (and decent) power throughout, and I don't have a plan with the character, just a lot of great feats that I can list out.

If you want to do a finesse style fighter, that'd be the way to go. Swordsage // Warblade for multiple routes to precision damage (dex + int) FTW. Maybe aim for Shadow Sun Ninja. Maybe use unarmed strike variant.

Just a thought.

Ah. Well, even so, it'd make for a nice thematic choice if we wanted to do an all-pixie party, but not strictly needed. My build is moreorless done, and pretty powerful right off the bat. It's not quite bullet hell, but the synergy between classes is really nice, and strafing enemies with fire, acid, and ice is really thematic IMO, especially with the breadth of effects I can unleash.

The buffs help the rest of the party out within fair radius (30 ft), and for combat, I have ones like swiftness (+10 ft speed stacks) or Vigor (Fast Healing 2 for creatures at or below 1/2 total HP). When I hit 12th level, I can grab 'Double Aura' which lets me project two. We don't seem to have a Healer yet, so I'll probably be our main source of intra-encounter healing- at least getting everyone up to half HP, and using my healing touch for in-combat use. At 6th level, I can basically heal 72 points of damage/day.

Not counting my invisibility, I've actually got fairly decent AC and some other very useful stuff.

I just had a fantastic idea for a new character concept. I could be a Shadowcaster//something. The idea is based around this quote from Captain Ahab:

"I own thy speechless, placeless power; said I not so? Nor was it wrung from me; nor do I now drop these links. Thou canst blind, but I can then grope. Thou canst consume, but I can then be ashes. Take the homage of these poor eyes, and shutter hands. I would not take it. The lightning flashes through my skull; mine eye-balls ache and ache; my whole beaten brain seems as beheaded, and rolling on some stunning ground. Oh, oh! Yet blindfold, yet will I walk to thee. Light though thou be, thou leapest out of darkness; but I am darkness leaping out of light, leaping out of thee!”

Now I think that the implications of being a pixie Shadowcaster//something based on this quote are hiLARIOUS.

So my basic build ideas are, thus far:

Shadowcaster//Beguiler for spells and such...

Beguiler//Warblade or Crusader, with great tanking powers

Beguiler//Nomad, with either Slayer or Eldritch Knight, for cool points.

This is a tough decision to make. Help, guys?

EDIT: I'm still having trouble choosing between these. Most of the psionic specialties suck, a LOT. Telepath, Shaper, and Egoist are the good ones, and the rest are kinda lame.

An interesting combination would be a Totemist//Telepath. I could take Shape Soulmeld for the cool Charming Veil from the Psionics of Incarnum web enhancement ( http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20060217a ). Hey Shoestring, what's the ruling on this feat: does the soulmeld shaped by this feat take up one of a meldshaper's daily soulmelds to be shaped? also, does the chakra bind accessed by the Open Chakra feats count against one of a meldshaper's daily chakras? I say no, but I was wondering if you see it that way.

If I go with this build I'll probably do the whole ranged totemist thing with the Manticore Belt, as well as doing the standard psion stuff.

I keep coming back to this idea, but I also can't help but think that a psychic warrior might be better for this build. Help?

I think, speaking from a thematic PoV, that the shadowcaster would be great for a straight 1-20 side of your gestalt. The other side, given the custom ruleset for this game, I think might be neat to be Ardent with the Light and Darkness, and the Energy mantles as primaries.

Shadowcaster 6// Ardent 6 (eliminating the Pixie LA with -8 to your PB score, but counting the +4 from a lack of legacy weapon (given that there's no caster ones, and I'm not up to making a caster one)

Hangon, I'm working something up

EDIT:

Pixie

Shadowcaster 6//Ardent 6

1. Shadowcaster//Ardent: Alertness (Pixie Bonus), Weapon Finesse (Pixie Bonus), Dodge (Pixie Bonus), 'Wilder' (Cha as primary psionic stat), Fundamentals of Shadows, Apprentice Mysteries, [Light and Darkness Mantle], [Corruption and Madness Mantle]
2. Shadowcaster//Ardent: [Energy Mantle]
3. Shadowcaster//Ardent: Umbral Sight (Darkvision 60 ft), Practiced Manifester (Ardent)
4. Shadowcaster//Ardent: Bonus Fundamental
5. Shadowcaster//Ardent: [Deception Mantle or Death Mantle], Sustaining Shadows (Eat 1 meal/week)
6. Shadowcaster//Ardent: Feat

So the build's changed from initial conception, but it basically boils down to Captain Ahab the Pixie- Corruption and Madness, Light and Darkness. Darkvision 60 ft, a nice breadth of psionic powers, shadow casting, and some interesting synergy (light and darkness mantle ups your umbral sight/darkvision from 30 ft to 60, fi. Utilizing the Wilder feat, they both rely on Cha for casting (partly, for the shadowcaster).

Energy mantle provides mostly blasting powers, but they're thematic- lightning and chaos and whatnot. Mostly lightning. The granted ability is kind of meh, but it's got some pretty nice blasting power, which gives you some immediate damage at lower levels, and some heavy artillery at higher ones. Deception mantle is a late entry- it's got some neat, thematic powers and buffs, but you could replace it with Death mantle, which also has thematic connotations and the like. Or, if you're not up for blasting, you could sub out the energy mantle with Death and then take Deception at fifth level.

I'd also mention that Light and Darkness mantle gets you a totally cool line power- yeah, I know lines suck, but you can fire a 120 ft bolt of 5d6 [Light] (dazzles opponents that fail their saves), [Shadow] (-1 damage per die, but damages ethereal creatures without miss chance), or [Darkness] (+1 damage per die in conditions of shadowy illumination or darkness (so, like, all the time?)

Power costs 7 PP to manifest, but you can augment it, adding 1 PP to add 1d6 points of damage.

Did I mention I totally love that power?

But I digress.

I don't have Complete Psionic, so no Ardent.

I could totally email you a pdf copy, so long as you 'promise' to 'delete' it within 24 hours.

I do possess a hard copy, so by all rights I can 'loan' it to you. or make backup copies and yadda yadda blah blah blah blah.

Huh.

Well, I suppose I can go for a pixie, then, if that's the goal.

I apologize for the slow responses - most of the time I've been free lately was at work, and work blocks Gaia. Things have calmed down now, so I'll be about more frequently.

Definitely liking the Good Incarnate/Crusader combination, though. Gimme a bit to change tact - I was contemplating being one of the larger folk working with pixies, not being a pixie myself, so give me a bit more to come up with a backstory and to reanalyze my maneuvers and melds.

Hey hey, any room in this? I posted on BG, but I'm not sure if my character (built out of fluff instead of crunch) will be up to snuff.

Looking like:
Were-Leopard (3d8 HD, +2 LA) 5 / Bloodclaw Blade 1 // Warblade 6
(1) Two Weapon Fighting
(H) Improved Toughness
(L) Iron Will
(f) Weapon Focus (Kukri)
(f) Battle Jump
(3) Adaptive Style
(W) Battle Meditation (Tiger Claw)
(6) Improved Natural Attack (Claws)

Based on a badass lycanthrope kinda thing, side 1 would finish Bloodclaw blade, warshaper, maybe weretouched master (full? 1 level?), side 2 going either full warblade or spending the next 14 on swordsage for just a crapload more maneuvers, and some variety.

Whatcha think? Too weak? Too MAD?

I think I might try out this Ardent business. Maybe go for an Ardent//Soulbow.

Where is were-leopard from? I don't have all the books to hand, so I may need to say no.

What the hell is bloodclaw blade? Do you mean Blood claw master? Or blood storm blade? Both advance initiating, and can't be taken on the opposite side from warblade.
