Gregory glanced at the butler and grinned just a bit. Can't avoid them all, he thought to himself. "Just trying to get the lay of the land," he replied, then paused to select an hors d'oeuvres. He was reasonably sure he knew what it was.
"Besides which," he continued, "it seems the riff-raff at this ball would float straight to the top of any other party." As he spoke, he glanced around. Tension was subtly going up in the room. Sir Mark La'Crosse's musical usurpation? No... Tracing the ripples back to their source, he was just in time to see the hostess depart with several members of the household staff in her wake. Probably some incomprehensible protocol violation, he guessed, then turned his attention back to the food and the butler.

Lady Delamere entered the room. The portraits that lined the walls were all sliced up. A messaged had been scrawled across the wall and there on the desk. Her large golden cage that normally held half a dozen happily chirping canaries. She covered her face in horror.
The monster had killed her canaries! She felt a bit sick but kept herself in control. "Like lambs to a slaughtering...." She read and was not amused. "Clean the mess.....be subtle about it. We do not want to alarm our guest. That would probably just excite the fiend...."

Kagamine pranced downstairs back to the party hearing and seeing the commotion with the hostess; what WONDERFUL gossip there was, perhaps this party wouldn't be a bore after all!
She looked to her hand and froze. A rip in her glove! This was UNACCEPTABLE! She hurredly ran to her brother, viciously thrusting out her hand to his face, ignoring Gregory. "My glove is torn Len! Fix it! Now!"
Len smiled and nodded taking his sister a little ways from the buffet table, pulling a needle and thread from his pocket, it seemed this to be a common thing. Kagamine pouted as he sewn up her accesory, but gave a smile to anyone who had watched her outburst.
Finally the deed was done and Len bowed, pulling her back to the table. "I'm afraid there was not any brioche to please your delecate pallette..."
He speared a chocolate covered strawberry and pinched his sister's cheeks, placing it gently in her mouth. "But perhaps this will gain her majesty's approval... Kagamine chewed a bit, then nodded cutely.

---Sir Mark La'Crosse------A Wealthy Laid Back Famous Musician Mark La'crosse was also slightly dazzled that the hostess of the evening would withdraw from the festivities. but for what perhaps. Mark walked over through the guests, asking questions, though no one seemed to know why. Curious. Before his eye caught out of the corner the commotion a certain woman was causing. An empress type, or high royalty spoiled girl. Though he had to admit, she was visually attrive, he had to give her that.
"The best approach is a bold one." he whispered to himself, striding over to the girl and man, he bowed curtly, eyes never taken away from her or him. He knew better. "Bonjuar Madam Mouiselle and misieure. How are we this evening If I may so ask?"

Lady Delamere sighed as returned to the party. She plastered her fake smile on once more and wished the weekend was over. Why had she made this a weekend affair? At the time it had seemed like such a stroke of brilliance....now...it seemed like she had been out of her mind that night.
The hostess made her way to the table. She was hungry. Time to snack. Dinner...was to be served at midnight. Another so called brilliant idea of hers'.

Loud princesses notwithstanding, everything seemed to be going well. Happily, even that wasn't a problem anymore thanks to LaCrosse's timely intervention. Gregory's survey of the room was essentially complete. He was pretty sure he had a good idea who was doing what where, and how to navigate around without getting into too much trouble. Now as long as nothing changes, he thought, and I haven't made a mistake, I might actually come out of this alright.
That was about when the hostess came back, minus most of her attendants. Well, she looks happy, he thought. Of course, we all look happy... "I stand in awe of your timing, m'lady," he said "They have just put out a new plate of..." he looked down at the dish in question. He had no clue what it was. More than that, he had no idea what was in it. But it looked amazing, and it tasted even better. "To be honest," he admitted in a lower tone, "I've no idea what it's called. But it's outstanding." He stopped, hopefully before he embarrassed himself further, and wondered at the stress putting together a high society event must cause.

"Hmmm?" Kagamine snootily looked towards the man, clearly unimpressed. "WE are fine, thank you very much...not much to do at a dull drab gathering such as this..." Len bowed and smiled in agreement.

---Sir Mark La'Crosse------A Wealthy Laid Back Famous Musician ok old accent and speach style not working, something a bit more relaxed. "ah I'm sure. But I must disagree though. There's quite a bit of excitement going on, you just have to find it." he said smiling from under his mask. "would you like to explore some of the options I can already see for an exciting night?"

"An exciting night, you say?" Instantly she clung to his arm and waved to Len, laughing shallowly. "You go ahead Len, don't wait up for me!"
He frowned and shot a second's glare at the man who took his sister away, but he smiled, bowing rigidly. "Yes...my Lady..."

Lila smiled at Sir Gregory. She replied in a soft tone "Caviar stuffed potatoes...." She ignored that plate though and went for one of the others. "Smoked Trout on Pumpernickel over there." She glanced at him once more. "Seared Scallops and Leeks over here." "If you prefer something sweeter...Honey Cream filled Crescents." She accepted another glass of wine and sipped it.

---Sir Mark La'Crosse------A Wealthy Laid Back Famous Musician Mark smiled, after he had flinched from her moving so fast, he bowed his head to noble brother. "I shall keep her safe." He spoke, guiding her away from the crowd, his identity as what he looked liked hidden under his mask. once out of sufficient ear shot, he spoke. "How much sneaking around have you done in your life?"

His ears perked up at the mention of the word' leek'. And Len eagerly, looked over the table for the ingrediant.
Kagamine laughed, waving her hand. "PLENTY of times!"

(( I have the hardest time writing anything for this thread sometimes. Oh well... ))
It was strange, hearing the whispers of the rumor mill start up right from the beginning. Evidently, the princess's exploits were no stranger to the gossip circles of high society. Gregory shrugged it off, though, and kept his attention on the hostess, and the table full of food.
His eyebrows rose slightly at the mention of the scallops. "I don't believe I saw those," he said. "Thank you." He was silent for a moment as he made his selection and sipped his wine.
