Wow, I can't believe you two are actively encouraging me to vandalize RTD's home. What if I piss him off so bad that he decides to NOT leave Doctor Who, then decides to paint the TARDIS pink and changes Matt Smith's new costume to look like a reject from the Village People? gonk

I think I'll just do something a little tamer, like sneaking into his office ninja style and switching his coffee to decaf so that he's grumpy all day.

Besides the Ice Warriors, what other Mars references should they include? The Pyramids of Mars? The failed Beagle 2 landing? The candy bar?

Sycorax would be a direct ((or perhaps indirect)) reference ((Guinevere I's destination was Mars))

I just keep thinking that Mars = Master (as a case in point, so my brain pbfft -- gone!)

Becaaaauuse.... he has no power over Doctor Who now? xd

The worst he could do would affect Torchwood, or maybe bring the Slitheen back to SJA.

ninja *has been thinking about this for some time*

Do you suppose the Master has some type of connection to the Midnight monster??

The knocking. RoseTyler05 mentioned it in another board, and now I'm curious...

I know the knocking was different, just saying...

Well, the knocking is different, but it's knocking nonetheless.

Perhaps the Master beat was supposed to throw us off -- it is in the show theme, even. And that's a pretty fair guess based on the 'Waters of Mars' trailer.

Well the Master is blonde this season.

Lucy's blonde.
Skye was blonde.

Just a theory...do you think the Master is the Midnight monster, and the Doctor was just too scared and weak to see it?

Just saying...its not what you think it is...
and the Doctor's face...I don't know :/

Bahaha what.

Wow.

Uhhhhh as interesting as that could be, I'll say no, since I don't think RTD wrote the Master back in that early after finishing his storyline in S3, and also the Midnight monster is something pretty epic -- nothing could habitate that planet and then POOF.

I was just spouting theories I'm not completley convinced myself, and probably won't be until I sSEE the episode. Hope I don't have to wait nine months...

BIG FAT SPOILER :

The Master is NOT!!! the one who knocks four times. Ood Sigma is. Is a telepathic thing - preparing the Doctor for his regeneration. Yes, the Sim Master is there - as well as the Monk. Be afraid.

I loved it!!
The only thing I didn't like that I can think of was the scene when the doctor magic wanded the gadget robot to go faster, and flames came out the back, and then he did it again later on but remotely.
Apart from that it could be the single best episode RTD has done so far.

It was an okay episode for me, but I felt pretty ambivalent about most of the show. Partly I think it's because we know (or think we know) right from the start that everyone on the Mars base is going to die, so I didn't really care when people started getting picked off since I knew they were goners anyway. Then the Doctor decides to break the rules and alter Time, which is a pretty neat idea, expanding on concepts first raised in the Pompeii story. Except that all of a sudden the Doctor becomes a major jackass, which I found a little hard to accept. I mean, I like that he starts getting corrupted when he realizes that he wields the power to 'fix' all sorts of stuff, but that doesn't mean he has to instantly act like a total jerk. It should have been more subtle, I thought.

The Doctor's rationale for why the Dalek didn't shoot her 50 years ago doesn't make much sense, does it? I mean, weren't the Daleks trying to obliterate the entire universe? Why, then, would they have any qualms about shooting the girl and changing Earth's history... wouldn't blowing up the whole universe be an even bigger change?! I figured the Dalek didn't shoot because a little girl wasn't really worth the effort.

The water aliens were an interesting idea. No real complaints about them.
